so i have the vox 212 bn extension cab which is intended for the ac30 this is one of the of the new ones made in china. i was skeptical, but never too skeptical to give something a try. this particular model includes the vox custom wharfdale speakers. its a 30 watt cabinet 8 ohms per speaker. for 300 dollars it cost for this cabinet it couldn't be better. the alnico blue's on the higher end version are sure nice. but if you dont have cash and like the vintage vox sound you wont be disapointed. if you want a bit more clarity cough up the bucks for the more expensive one 212bnx.

so i used this with my traynor ycv40 and it brought new life to my amp. its very clean and warm sounding. bass response is a little less than perfect, how ever vox stuff was meant for treble tones. this cabinet is great for the sound im looking for, great for the hobby guitarist looking for a vintage look. if youre looking for clarity and versatility look around a bit more. but if you like jangle guitar pop rock, look no further.
im now using it with a 1966 black face fender bandmaster and rewired the cabinet in paralell to drop the ohms down to 4. and it sounds immaculate . 1960's tone for everyone
for guitars im using a fender telecaster as well as fender stratocaster.
single coils sound great through this cab especially with a tube amp.

solid construction can take quite a dinging. i take it on public transportation to gigs and its still kicking like the day i bought it. grill cloth and tolex of course will probably wear over time like most. but thus far no wear or tear from what ive put it through.

havent dealt with them directly. but have had friends who have recieved good service from them. im sure my warranty is void with me rewiring it. but the cab as wried well to begin with. so they get points for that.

ive had this cabinet for about a year and its served me quite well. for somethign i thought would just tide me over for a cabinet until i could afford something i really wanted. ive stopped looking. if it were stolen i'd probably buy another one or upgrade to the alnico blue specs. or maybe even the 4x10. but for the price of this cab you cant beat it. if your in to the vox sound and look this cab will not disappoint.
i might buy a second to run with my other amp and a stereo rig.
the only thing that might make it better is if it were closed back cabinet but, thats merely preferance.
for a gear list of stuff i use:
2000 squier fender telecaster (upgrade pickups to american standards)
rosewood fretboard
1982 american fender stratocaster (stock) maple fretboard
1966 fender bandmaster head
2003 traynor YCV40
electro harmonix big muff (russian)
electro harmonix holy grail
boss ds-1 distortion
boss tr-2 tremelo
dunlop crybaby
this is my main gear. have some other pedals but this is what im using currently for my fx chain

My Vox cabinet was built in 1964 by JMI Vox Co. It is a sealed back design. It has 2x 12" celestion G12 alnico blues made for Vox. One handle on the top center. Rather heavy for it's size.

I have a 1966 AC-30 Supertwin head which I use to run the cabinet. It sounds absolutely wonderful. Unique! More of a punchy bottom end response than a combo or open back design. Beautifully articulate and full sounding. A must for supertwin owners IMO.

I treat it with kid glove as it contains 40 year old 15 watt speakers.

I'm so happy to be able to have found this cabinet. Previously I've been using a fender bandmaster cab loaded with G12s. The vox cab is much more solid and handles the bass frequency much better/tighter. My experience is as a pro player of over 20 years, and a student of guitar for over 30. If I lost this cab I'd be devistated as I had it shipped here from Holland, and was very difficult to find in the first place. I suppose I'd order a replacement from NCM too. I would like to get one of the stands NCM makes, and that would complete the package.
This amp only go's out of my home for studio work or fancier shows. I would never take it on the road. I'm giving it a ten for being such a pretty sounding rig. Not for value, as it was expensive to say the least.

Vox 2X12 open-back cabinet loaded with Celestion G-12 alnico blue speakers, wired for 16 ohms. Total power handling is 30 watts. Cabinet is the size of a standard Vox AC-30 combo but without the weight of the amplifier chassis, easy to carry around.

Amazing! Many reviews have already been written about the Vox designed "Bull Dog" speakers, they are certainly the best I've ever heard. The cabinet sounds best when elevated just a foot or so above the floor. You may want to set it on a chair or, even better, on an amp stand. I enjoy playing 60's rock and all types of country music. I have used several different amp heads with this cabinet and they all sound good. The best sounding so far has been with an old 10 watt single-ended 6L6 class A Stromberg-Carlson amp. Through this cabinet, it's so loud it will drive people out of the room. The cabinet is made from 3/4" Baltic birch which I think really allows the sound to resonate in a bright and useful way.

Vary solidly built cabinet. The speakers are only rated at 15 watts each so I will have to be careful not to exceed the 30 watt max. This is not a cabinet that you would want to loan out to someone who might connect it to a 50 or 100 watt Marshall head. This cabinet is built to the original Vox specs which means it looks pretty, but be gentle, the corners are made of plastic and the grill cloth will not take much abuse.

North Coast Music builds these cabinets, under exclusive license, from Vox UK. All communications have been via e-mail and I've always gotten a friendly response within a day.

I ordered the cabinet on blind faith, but there was no need to worry. It arrived in perfect shape...good job on the packing and shipping. It looks as beautiful as it sounds. The workmanship is absolutely perfect in every detail, inside and out. One item of note; like the original, a male XLR connector is used for the speaker input. You will need to use a speaker cable that has a matching female XLR connector on one end. The main reason I bought this speaker cabinet (instead of the standard AC-30 combo with built in amp) is because my hobby is electronics and I'm in the process of building my own AC-30 amp head. I hope to include reverb, master volume and channel switching, all built into one unit. I am interested in hearing from others who, like me, wish to bring this wonderful classic 50's amp design into the 21st century.
