Features : No Opinion
sounds like you've got an early 72-74 model
i'm guessing the greenbacks are celestions
i picked up mine for ??250 GBP half that of what a minter would go for in london, mines a 79 with the fane pale blues which were introced in that year and ran to the end of ac30n-roduction in 1984 and has three inputs normal a rerverb/ speed channel which when put through an effect with echo creats a welcome tho the jungle intro effect, and brilliant which when used in conjunction with distortion pedals sounds brilliant .it also has a cut function which when used under heavy distorted effects can be turned up and down accordingn the desired distortion it has more than enough power with 100 watts it does well in a large pub / hall although it has no external output.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
for a 31 year old amp i9t sounds amazing extremely powerfull but ver gentle and creates not much crackle . when under distortion it sounds really goood great for any styles blues classic rock metal what ever i want to do. it sounds just great, the one problem is when on brilliant input there is no happy medium either extremely quiet or very very loud. due to its age and technology there is not much variety of sounds but the variety of tone and clarity of sound it creates is amazing

Reliability : No Opinion
i probably would the original owner had used it for relitively large gigs and had no trouble with it,

the only problem with it is a small rip in the speaker cone lining i dont know how this happened it was like it when bought but on phoning the much trusted music shop i bought it it they will repair it for free,

Customer Support : No Opinion
vox company haqve very good services though they cannot produce spare parts for this amp of a vintage they will direct one to a trusted source of pukka part so its all good.

the warranty unfortunately ran out before i was born so theres a slight hitch but hey ho

Overall Rating : No Opinion
i've been playing for 6yrs now i constanly play when i can each day i use with this amp my standard fender strat sounds awsome or my 84 epiphone e series explorer imported from chicago. or my humbley jay turser sepertent les paul copy, i use in conjunction with this a boss distortion pedal or a zoom zo6 , its awsome.

i chose this over other products because i love the looks of it the retro tone and sound it creates is so pure and amazing, its pure british handbuilt quality just something u don't get today unless u pay extreme amounts for the new heritage handbuilt series. you can tell its hand put together by the un-rounded corners and the way its put together it's great. and the fact i didnt have ??1500 + to spend on a 60s valve model , o well maybe next time , i,m gonna hang on to this one though.

70's Amp bought by mistake I thought it was the Valve version that's why it was very cheap. Very loud amp 3 inputs no channel switching.
It's not as heavy as a valve amp so good for gigging. It has reverb and tremelo (which is not working on mine - I think it just needs a new switch.

Sound Quality : 8
I tried it with my Strat very clean - not very good. But with my high output Les Paul it sounds very valvey and with a TS808 it sounds great for lead and blues rhythm better than another valve combo I have.
I never like carting Valve amps around for gigs so this will do nicely.
It's a classic blues break up type distortion - no good for modern stuff. But I'm in a blues band!

Reliability : 9
Only just bought it but it's been around for 30 years!!!

I've been playing 35 years. I use a Les Paul Classic (custom shop) and an Ibanez Artist 2619 and a Jap strat with Seymour Duncan alnicos.
I don't know if I would buy it again - let me live with it for a while.

This is true VOX but solid state form '70. Thre chanals like his tube brother, but 40 wats amp.

Sound Quality : 9
This amp have mixature of tipical resistor (litle hard) sound and classic Vox sound. Difrence is more mute sound; solid state doesnt have sparkling, presence, airy sound like tube vox.
I use just normal chanal, with JMP-1 preamp and fx, like slave amp, and that combination is great.I give my rating for that combination.

Reliability : 10
This amp doesnt request special care, just plug and play!

Customer Support : 1
In Croatia(Europe) we dont have authorized service, and warranty!

Overall Rating : 9
Great amp for universal playing, and many stiles of music, in combination with jmp-1 and t.c. m-one xl, it sounds great, I heard just one amp to sounds better, handmade amp based on marshall 50 plexi!

The amp was made in the early 70's. It works well with modern mutli-FX units making it quite versatile. Mine has greenbacks but apparently most have fane speakers. It has all the usual features of an ac30 but obviously non of the valves. It is 40 watts but can seem much louder. It would suit pub gigs and smaller venues, and it can take more than one instrument. Obviosly there is no channel switching or effects loops but there is an output for an extra speaker.

Sound Quality : 9
THis amp is very clean and very generic solid state, but with a multi-fx it is capable of a wide range of styles. It distorts nicely when pushed. It produces very little excess noise. These amps were used by Queen and Status Quo in the 70's, so if its good enough for them it's good enough for me. The vib/trem feature is pure vox, beautiful

Reliability : 10
This amp is a tank, it may not be a valve ac30 but it is 100% vox quality all the way through.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never been any need

Overall Rating : 10
An excellent all rounder, it takes on any sound you want to give it. It may not be a valve ac30 but it is a beautiful, reliable amp. I dont think it's fair that some people are hard on these amps but if you compare it to a valve ac30 it's obviously going to come of worse, some people cant bare having an amp that looks like one thing but sounds like something else. Its a nice amp in its own right.

Probably made in the '70s. Features are pretty identical to a tube AC30, but this particular sample also has reverb. Vox labelled

Sound Quality : 5
Nothing like a tube AC30, more "generic solid state", and actually quite muffled at that. Induces a hellish hum when linked to my '65 Twin Reverb reissue.

Reliability : No Opinion
It seems reliable, probably hasn't been in need of service. That's about the only advantage over the tube model.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The amp isn't mine.

Overall Rating : 5
Some solid state amps actually sound very good, but this one is utterly uninspiring, and couldn't touch the tube AC30 with a ten feet pole. If I owned it I would be really embarrassed by it being a Vox AC30, but not a good or attractive one. Really no reason not to buy a Vox Cambridge, a newer Marshall Valvestate, a Fender solid state amp or a JC-120 if you're after a good sounding solid state amp. The Vox AC30 solid state is a premature solid state design and rather lame.

This is the late 60 early 70s solid state AC30 Has all the usual, 3 Channels normal Bright & Tremalo Normal is the Nicest letting the Guitar or effect show through not getting muddied on the way. Tremolo is great for that true sixtys sound.

Sound Quality : 7
Great sound you would never Know it was only 40w but the 2 12" spreakers help. As I only play at home I have never used it in anger YET. I normaly use it with a telecaster but do put my acoustic through it sometimes and that sounds great aswell

Reliability : 10
IT hasnt gone wrong yet & its not much younger than me

Customer Support : No Opinion
I think the waranty ran out when we went metric?

Overall Rating : 10
Other than getting a Valve one it would be hard to replace
