1966 Vox Super Twin (AC30 top-boost)with a trolley and a pair of graytone Jennings speakers. This is tone heaven for players looking for EL84 dynamic class A tone and responsiveness! I have been playing for over forty years, have several HIWATTS, Fenders, Ampeg, even a Matchless. This old Vox made me a BELIEVER!! I don't know what it is about this amp, but it has to be one of the best amplifiers EVER BUILT; at least sound wise. A tone monster!

Sound Quality : 10
I have used all of my guitars with it and it delivers. I have a 1971 Sixth version Les Paul goldtop with P-90's, 1971 ES335, 1991 Les Paul Classic w/ Duncans, G&L Legacy Strat, 1957 Fender Strat Reissue, etc. The amp really reflects the tonal palette of whatever you plug in, and it is really surprisingly quiet for such an old beast. I haven't dimed it out for long periods as it is a valuable piece of history, but it is very loud for a 30 watt amp! It grinds it out with style and authority. Clean jangle too die for! This is the one that wrote the book on that sound.

Uhhhh, well I dunno about taking this one out on the trail! It runs hotter than a Tijuana sauna, and I wonder how long the tubes can absorb that kind of saturation, but as my tech-friend Brent Bagby from Solderhaus (best in Seattle area BTW) if it has been kicking it out for 40+ years, it is probably pretty reliable. You could fry a frickin' egg on this one! When I use it for rehearsal it warms up the room! Seriously.

I have my VOX guy right hear in the backyard. I wouldn't trust this amp with anyone else!

Stolen! I don't think so, unless they have SWAT team logistics. This one is treated like the "Crown Jewels" and I have a team of Rottweilers that are hungry, thirsty, and well trained for break-ins.
I am never parting with this one; it is in my will!

Simply an AC-30 TB head. Made in 1966 by Jennings Musical Instrument Co. Three chanels, all tube, hand wired, etc. Rather odd controls for this Fender guy but funtional none the less. I own a matching super twin cab with blue bulldogs. I use a variety of new and vintage effects with it. It's a little sensitive with the noisier stuff but the tone is worth it.

Sound Quality : 10
I like the Top Boost chanel. It's very bright sounding but that's the charm of it. I play differently when using it, as it's hard to make it sound bad. Really an amazing amp! You should recognise zillion of classic UK tones with it. A nice alternative between Fender and Marshall. I could use it all the time if given the oppertunity.

Reliability : 8
It runs very hot, and likes good tubes. I wouldn't want to depend on it, but I love it none the less. I just keep it serviced regularly and baby it. Definately not my daily driver

I think that if you play jangly rock and roll this is the holy grail. I used to own a Matchless, and I prefer the Vox. These amps are magic, and wonderful for those accidental sounds and overtones. They crunch and chime and you hear every note in the chords you play. I consider myself very lucky to own one, being the po boy I am. Playing for 30 years. Blues, Rock and Roll. They're expensive, not good value, but the sound is second to none. So that rates a ten in my book.
