i got this essentially brand new for $150.. so I have huge bias towards this amp. The 11 voices deliver and the ability to shape and store your own "Sound" by tweeking the pre set is very satisfying.
The effects are -- well effective..careful with the gate adjustment- it has a tiny bit of odd bleeding -- kind of a short after hum.
The power level adjustment should be on ALL AMPLIFIERS
The tube sound is genuine -- and will fool your snobby friends with Blues Jr.s.. upgrading the tube is a must and easily done - and cheap.

Single Coil (1974 Strat) == Creamy and glassy and shimmery...
Hummers = AS you would expect fatter and the aggressive dark metal settings jump with hummers.
This amp is quiet, the two 12 inch speakers deliver - but I am tempted to upgrade them -
What's nice about this amp AGAIN is the Attenuator -- it can be brought down to 5 watts and have a natural break up at room temperature... NICE... not as wonderful as it is at 10 watts cranked but satisfying and no giant compromise
I lean towards glassier settings but I am enjoying the various distortion settings and some have actually changed my song writing style a bit..its great when a guitar or amp bends your ear a little.

100 watts two 12s - 11 presets - most cool - Attenuator - really cool - warmer than you would ever expect - a value even at $300 or a bit more used (Don't blame me for finding a new one for $150 - don't blame the player blame the game... Overall ? A deal - and serious amp - not a toy or a gimmick at all.

I use a cheap double humbucker les paul knockoff, and an Ibanez artstar hollow body, also double humbuckers. I love the AC30 setting. some reviews criticize the Vox amp settings as flat or hollow. I don't agree at all. Original Vox amps aren't designed for late 90's alternative/pop, so I'm not sure why you'd try and use one for that kind of music. I run heavy delay and reverb and get airy harmonics and rich high notes that ring for days. This is a shoegaze or psych. rock bargain. Don't waste your money on a vintage AC30 unless you've just signed a record deal, once the bass and the pedals kick in nobody can tell the difference. Nobody. Love the AC30 and UK 70's settings.

I picked this amp up a couple of years ago now. I was looking for a 2X12 tube amp but had to stop and look at the vox because of its price, and the fact that its stainless grill caught my eye. Although it was a hybrid tube amp I really liked the sound, and its options (11 models and 11 effects). Like I said i really like the amp becasue it has just enough amp model options and effects. In essence you have 3 channels (channel #1, channel #2 and the manual mode). I like that it has a headphone jack for when my kids are sleeping but my favorite option is the power switch on the back allowing you to adjust from low watts for small rooms or home practice to 100 watts for larger gigs. The power switch allows you to drive the amp to your liking at any range in the spectrum.

I play an Epiphone 335, a hagstrom Super Swede, and a fender Strat through this amp and they all seem to work fine. I really like blues, classic rock, and regular rock and it seems to track with my style just fine. I use the amp mostly at clean settings and use external pedals for added effects. Each of my channels is a different clean amp setting. I like the Boutique clean setting and the AC30TB setting. for manual I dial in one of the more agresssive distortion settings like the "80's" or "New Metal" settings. As you can probably tell i use the amp footswitch to access these settings during play.

The only problem i had was the nut on the input jack seemed to pop off quite easily with a little tension on the jack causing the jack to fall into the amp once the cable was pulled out. I have fixed it twice on my own and now tie off my guitar cable on to one of the hadels to see that it doesn't happen again. I switched the jack nut on the input jack with the red nut from the back pannel for the external speaker. It seems to work better and it looks cool.

I have e-mailed in to vox with a concern and wasn't happy with the answer. When i ordered the footswitch for the amp the footswitch cable was a lot shorter than expected. I am sure that this would do just fine in a bedroom but on stage or gigging I knew I would need more length. When i e-mailed they did respond and i will give them that but they were very dissinterested and just told me to go and but an extension from Radioshack. I ended up having a friend who works in the sound industry add a bunch of cable to it for me.

I like the amp and play on it once to twice a week out. It is a little heavey but what do you expect from a 2X12. I would consider another Vox product again in the future if i was amp hunting. I love the versatility of the amp, the cool steel grill look, the sound, and the power adjuster option.
I just wanted to add that I thought it was pretty cheap of Vox to not add an amp cover or footswitch with the amp. I know they are trying to cut the overall cost but I just thought that was cheap.

All the details are listed on the Vox site and above this review...I believe my amp to be a 2006 model, which I purchased in 2007. There are enough options with the sounds to require a degree in sound engineering, but by taking things on one by one, I am learning the value of this amp.
I had tried out a lot of combo amps before settling on this model which suits my style of music-surf-heavier rock quite well.
It is loud as hell for 100w.

I have a 62 strat, which sounds great through this amp-I really like a clear top end to things and this certainly delivers without sounding tinny.
The distortion levels on this amp are not great-but with the addition of an overdrive pedal, this can crank out some noise.
The chorus delay and reverb effects are fucking brilliant, and the flanger reverb is really great.

I had my main imput jack come loose, and it wouldn't stay threaded, so I used some "lock tight" which is a liquid compound (mainly used for autos) that helps in these situations, and it did the trick. I wasn't impressed with having to do this, and living in the country, it would have been a pain in the nuts to haul in for such a minor thing.

I have had this amp for almost a year, and have finally broken down and bought the 2 phase pedal which I will get in a week or so ($29.00). With all these splendid options, you need a pedal to change sounds in a song. In my opinion, this should come with the amp to start with.
Overall, this is a great amp, and having come from a 100w 70's Traynor tube amp, this still delivers a wallop. The lone tube it comes with does not replicate that sound, but if you want a clear high end, with a lot of options, this is the amp to buy.

This thing is stacked with some pretty damn high quality features. Two channels, 11 amp models and a shitload of effects. You create your own channels which is an excellent feature. A third channel would be great for a solo tone but a boost pedal would handle this fine. The thing with this amp is that the features are all really high quality, but using them live is a bit of a letdown. There is only one switchable effect per channel, and this means that most of the time all those cool effects never get used. Other than that though, its a loaded amp.

This thing handles my style of playing with ease and power. I play funk based rock that occasionally gets a bit prog when we start jamming. My gat is a mexican tele thats been beefed up with a duncan hot-rail for when shit gets heavy, but its also coil tapped to get those sharp funk sounds. The boutique Od rips for soloing and riffige and the cleans are great for staccato funk rythyms and high seventh chords. I like a bit of metal in my own time, and although the amp does this admirably its not its strong point. The high gain settings are heavy and strong but a bit muddy. But for the price, pretty gnarly.

This amp often gets a bad rap on this point, but I appear to have gotten lucky. Frankly, I've been thrashing the shit out of this thing for nearly two years and its never let me down. I've played about 30 or so gigs with it since I got it in Jan 2006 and its still ripping.

This thing dominates other amps in its price range. Its all valve marshall or fender but it costs a third of those amps. The only fault I can really say it has is the fact that you can't really reap the benefits of its versatilty in a gig situation.

I got this amp in our local shop and payed a little over the top for it at 550 euros. I was desperate as my other amp ACX 1000 had broke down, yes I know the ACX 1000 is an acoustic amp, but I accidently plugged my Yam LD acoustic into this Vox in the shop, the clean settings are so very ringingly acoustic and I was bitten, now I can introduce some distortion into my acoustic ramblings in bars here in Ireland and the punters love it too.

Its certainly a powerfull and loud amp when its needed, OK feedback on acoustics is a problem, but I get this amp up high as possible and swivelled to point the right angle in the room, then my swell pedal does the trick, any feedback is instantly quelled without having to stop playing, by easing the swell pedal up or down as the people move around in the bar.
My Yam LD has a very advanced pickup system which somehow suits this amp.
I'm getting a Gibson electric soon with an acoustic bridge pickup, I hope this will bring out the full potential of this amp and me too.

The size of this amp is what makes it the powerfull beast it is! Its a bug'un and prety heavy too, but it has "stage pressence" and certainly draws the punters while setting up your gear, so you best be a capable guitarist to keep them punters around!

I'm not sure where this amp was made in but my guess would go for China or Korea. It has two channels (you can get three of them if you count the manual mode aswell).
This amp also has an effects loop and a line out jack but I haven't needed them yet. I use this amp with my band, mainly at our practise place which is a big bunker. It cuts through the mix after some testing and such. Cut the gain and add mids and it should sound great. 100 wats is more than enough: I usually crank the master volume all the way up and then set the power knob to around 10 o'clock. Even then it's very loud and has some of that tube feel into it. Too bad that the foot switch didn't come with the amp!

I love the clean sounds in this Vox! It depends on your pickups whether the sound gets distorted when playing with a clean setting. The sounds are in general great and luckily there is some variety in the amp models. I mainly use the UK'80's and tweed amp settings and they are doing their job well.
I mainly play classic rock with a punk flavor and this amp is great for those styles. But take this hint: you really can't get very metalish sounds from this amp. The heaviest sounds are the likes of, let's say Trivium and Metallica. So no death or doom metal with this amp, I'd say.
I wish the amp would give a more trebly sound but that's more of my guitar's fault since at the moment I use a dark-sounding Les Paul. So it's in your hands (or should I say ears) whether the sound is trebly enough or not. Otherwise it sounds awesome.
The effects are good aswell. At the moment I don't use any other effects than Whammy and delay. I use the amp's built-in delay effect and it sounds great. Sometimes i also like to mess around with the auto-wah which doesn't sound bad at all. Well I wouldn't use the auto-wah for solos but it's a great effect to fool around when playing new riffs.
The amp can be a bit noisy depending on your pickups. But it has a built in noise cancelling which has been enough for me.

I have been playing about 6 years now and this amp is my main amplifier that I use. As I mentioned before I use a Les Paul but I'm about to buy a new strat soon. I can't wait that: single coil strat-sounds + this amp's clean sounds = one way ticket to heaven! If it were stolen I would buy a second one if I had the same amount of money. Or I would buy the AD100VTH-head and a Vox cabinet because I like this amp so much!
I have compared this with amps that cost approximately the same amount (Line6 Spider III, the bugdet model Marshall head and so on) and I would say that this one will give the most for your money! But if you play VERY heavy metal I would suggest the amp my friend has, Line6 Spider III. That one has metter metal sounds. But in other areas this amp kills even some of the more expensive ones! A great value in my opinion!

This has been covered well.
I wish it had more than one input, and the ability old more than 2 patches would be good as well.
I got this amp in a trade. I needed a practice amp and a friend had been afer a fender vibrolux that i had in storage. I also got a strat in the deal as well.
The power control on the back makes this thing perfect for a bedroom amp even though it is a 100w beast.
I wish it had the foot pedal, but it's only about $25 more.
It has enough features to get good sound if you know what good sound is.

This will go from clean to extra dirty and all points in between , no complaint there.
I have used a les Paul, a strat, and a jazz box with the amp and it works well with them all and can get amost any sound you want.
The tube is easily changable, and was one of the first things I did.
IO went to a tube that breaks up a little easier, and the tone improved greatly.
The noise gate is a nice addition which keeps down noise even with old gretsch single coils.
This will do it all - no question.
I waited for about 2 months to write this as I wanted to form a good opinion before I wrote.
Unless you are going to spend huge $ on a lot of amps and effects this is the bet.
Suprprisingly it has a warm tube sound.

I've been playing long enough to have gray hair, and it was long and dark when I began.would I buy it? probably not, just because I have sooo much gear already. Like I said I got it on a trade. I think the strat I got was almost worth the trade.
Change the tube if you want even more warmth.
I used a grove tube with a medium hardness that I had laying around just to see what it would do and I love the change.
I think this is better sounding than some of the multi-effects I have run through tube amps; because you can push the tube at low volumes and make it scream in the bedroom with out the rest of the family sh*ting bricks.
The hole multi thing is great, but you still have to used them with a tube amp while pushiing the tubes to get a good sound.
This just seems more warm and responsive to me.

Manufactured 2005/6. Has plenty of modes but none of them were really what I wanted once I got it home and in a band situation. I ended up using a digitech multi effects unit to get my sound back. Despite having lots of different amp models each setting was really one dimensional and hard to tweak.
The power control is exceptionally cool though.
Not much chop for a modelling amp.

Cleans were pristine and lush, distortions were pretty good but each one I found had a glaring flaw. The US Hi gain lacked a lot of highs, numetal lacked far too much midrange and had excess buzz. UK Modern didn't have enough bottom end.
The milder overdrives I can't comment on.

It sounded pretty good, and I got an excellent distortion out of it with some outside effects. (For the cost, you can't expect it to be supreme). Even if mine was still working today, I couldn't overly recommend it. Because mine killed itself after three months AND the replacement was a complete dud this amp simply isn't worth its admittedly low cost. Modelling fans save your money and get top end Rocktron, Line 6 or Tech 21 gear. If this amp is the best you can afford, get something cheaper and worse. It will probably last many times longer.

Features have been adequately covered before. The philosophy on this amp seems to be, "Everything you need, nothing you don't need". There are comparatively few amp models, but the ones that are here all sound great and cover all the usual styles. Same with the effects. I sometimes wish it had even 4 preset channels - doesn't seem like that would have been too expensive to add - but you only get two. That's still good enough for me 90% of the time. And, the effects editing is a bit inconvenient, as you have to hold down multiple buttons simultaneously to use the single edit knob for a variety of parameters (the Line 6 Flextones use the same scheme to cut down on the number of knobs, so it wasn't really a shocker).
I don't know if it was in the manual (I only skimmed it, you really don't need to read it as the amp is very self-explanatory), but I discovered quite happily that the effects settings are stored with the presets even if you don't save the effect as engaged with the preset. I rated realistically for what it is advertised as, what I expected of it, and what it's reasonable to expect at this price point, not of what I wish it would do in a perfect world:

The 11 amp models are all great; there's not a weak link here. I especially like the AC30TB, JCM800, Dumble clean, and Soldano models. Like their tube counterparts and unlike a lot of other modling amps, these push a lot of air when cranked, and the dynamic tube feel is markedly better than that of other modeling amps. The power reduction knob is great for maintaining a "pushed" power tube feel at bedroom volumes, although honestly, the master volume knob seems to do just as good a job, and the power reduction knob seems to cut some high end presence out of the sound. I experimented until I found a good balance of volume using the power reduction and master volume knobs.
The amp does lack a little high end; there is no presence knob, no allowance for a presence control with any of the presets, and I think the cheaper speakers could be a culprit, too. I compared this to the AD60VTX, which has a presence knob, and the AD60VTX did have a little more sparkle. For distortion sounds it isn't a problem since you generally want darker eq, but for clean sounds it doesn't quite have that Fender or Vox sparkle and sheen. I don't know what they did for the amp models that originally had a presence or "cut" control in terms of modeling...did they model the presence part of the circuit at 100% and gave the treble control more range to make up? Sometimes it frankly sounds like they just modeled at presence setting "0". Seems a bit weird since this is a Vox product and the AC30TB's are famous for the presence cut control.
However, I will say that, with treble and presence-equipped amps, I'm always second guessing which is which when I'm tweaking the high end, and I've never found an acceptable balance between treble and presence on real tube Fenders and Voxes, anyway. Seems like these amps are always too bright or too dull, and with only a treble control, there's no time wasted tweaking: turn it all the way up, and these models still sound great. I think better speakers might open up the top end, too.
Effects are surprisingly good. The delay is supposedly modeled on tape echo, but I don't hear the distinctive tape echo smear...just a really good analog delay sound. The tremolo, rotary, and chorus are good and rich, and the auto wah is surpringly usable (I usually think of this effect as a useless toy unless you have a really good one). I was able to tweak it so much to my liking that I rarely bother plugging in my wah pedal anymore, which is fine since it's a tone suck on my guitars, anyway. Spring reverb model also sounds good.
Obviously, there are limits because these effects have only basic 3-paramater tweaking and you can't store more than 2 presets, but since they do sound really good, it's nice to have some effects if I'm just plugging straight in and don't want to have to fire up my pedalboard.

Made in Vietnam. Seems study enough but at this price point and with Vox's history of poor reliability, hard to say. I've had it for a few months now, no problems, but I've owned a lot of other Vox products in the past and all of them have had problems sooner than later. It must be a real tribute to Tom Jennings and Dick Denney's amp voicing that people still love that sound so much that they're willing to pay for an unreliable amplifier!
I suspect that the cabinet is made of particle board at this price. I don't have the heart to rip off some vynhide (sp?) and look, I'll just accept that I like the amp and leave it at that. One very cool feature: the tube is easily accessible from the back! Replacing it would take 10 seconds, unlike the full tube AC30 Custom Classics (and, for that matter, every English-style Vox amplifier ever made) where you literally have to remove the chassis from the cabinet to reach the tubes!
If I were touring, I think it would be foolish not to have a backup, but with reasonable care exersized it seems sturdy enough. No creaks, poorly joined parts, or other things making me blatantly nervous. Even though I prefer the older basketweave fronts, the chrome speaker protectors are kind of cool, makes the amp feel not quite as prissy as a real AC30. Corners are plastic, though.
As with Vox's recent history as a brand name, the current crew running the company are not the same people who did the 90s reissues, who were not the same people who did the 80's/70's Vox, etc., so you have to evaluate using a fair and fresh perspective on the new company's mission. The stuff is made in a SE Asian factory where we frankly can't see what the build quality is one way or the other, but the company seems committed to making this business model work, and the prices are ridiculously affordable for what you get. When I first decided that I wanted a Vox AC30 in 1992, there's no way I could have had one for less than $2k. Hard to be too critical here, to be fair. We'll see. I have to give it an 8 based on its relaibility for me and my confidence so far. I also own a Tonelab SE and it seems VERY well built, nothing shaky about it, all good-quality metal parts, and they are made in the same factory, so it's a good sign...

Been playing for 20 years. Favorite bands are The Beatles, The Who, Zep, and U2. I don't play professionally anymore, otherwise I might go for a more expensive, more tank-like amp, but for occasional friendly jams and the fact that I finally have a Vox amp that sounds like I think they're supposed to, it's great! (I had an AC30 reissue in the late 90's and really didn't care for it, it just didn't seem to have the characteristic Vox sound in spades...with this one I plug in, dial the knobs for 5 seconds, and it sounds like the Vox tones I love from my favorite records). My guitars are Epi Casino and Fender Am. Strat, and I generally don't use effects anymore if I can get away with it.
I compared it to the higher line AD60VT from Vox and Line 6 Flextone III. The AD60 had more features (preamp pedal effects like a variety of overdrives etc.), more effects, and more programmability, none of which really appealed to me (save the missing presence knob!) so I couldn't see spending the extra money. The Line 6 stuff sounds great at bedroom whisper levels but always seems to sound sterile, lifeless, and thin with any kind of healthy volume. The Flextones are probably more rewarding at the music stores since they seem to be tweaked to sound better at lower volumes and seem to capture more of the "characteristic" sound of the various amp models (plus they have more variety), but only the Vox modeling amps are as fun (nearly as fun, anyway) to play as a real tube amp. I've gigged with a Flextone and still cringe every time I hear my guitar tone on a recording we made that night.
I'm guessing a simple speaker upgrade might help this amp a lot. The middle of the road speakers included don't sound like anything, really...you can't quite get the boxy Beatle tone of the AC30 model without real Blue Bulldog speakers, etc., so I plan on some experimentation here. But I still love this amp.

I have a love/hate relationship with this amp. Although it features 11 different amp models, I have to say that the modeling on my Line 6 Duoverb was much better. There is alot of bottom end to this amp, and I find it difficult to tweak a good tone on many of the amp settings, especially with single coils. By far, I think the best tones on this amp are from the Fender and Dumble models. The Marshall models are good, but too much bottom end and the distortions get too muddy above 12:00 on the gain. I'm playing American Standard strats through this amp, and play mostly rock and blues. Honestly, I'm a bit disappointed that I parted with my Duoverb for this.

I've been playing for 35 years now and also own a Hughes and Kettner Edition Tube 112 20th anniversary combo, as well as two American Standard strats. If this amp were lost or stolen, I would definitely not buy another one...too much low end and muddiness with this amp, and the time I spend tweaking this amp could be spent playing guitar. I compared this to a Flextone III XL, but chose this amp because of the built in power attenuator which makes it a good amp for home and live playing. This is a decent amp, but I wouldn't say stellar.

Features are, from the Vox website:
Eleven realistic amp models using sophisticated modeling technology
A total of eleven coveted amp types are provided. Starting with the classic AC30 and ranging from vintage to modern, higain to clean, a variety of amp models are built-in, giving you an incredible range of sound-creating potential. Selecting the amp model and adjusting the tone controls is as intuitive as it gets ? just turn the knobs!
Eleven high-quality effects cover the basics
Nine standard effects indispensable for any guitarist are built-in. These include auto wah, compressor, phaser, chorus, flanger, tremolo, rotary, delay and reverb. With the addition of combination-type effects, you have a total of eleven effects to choose from. Each effect lets you adjust several parameters. There?s also a Tap button that makes it easy to set the delay time or modulation speed.
Save your user programs in CH1 or CH2
Channel Select mode lets you save two of your own programs, including the combination of amp and effect settings. You can access either channel at a touch, for immediate switching while you play.
Easily select the classic sound for each amp type.
The new Preset mode gives you a tonal starting point for each amp model. You can enter Preset mode at the touch of a button, and then simply choose an amp model to automatically get the preset sound for that amp. Select a Preset, modify it and save it to CH1 or CH2.
Manual mode lets you hear your exact sound settings
In Manual mode, the sound you?re hearing will be exactly what the knob settings indicate ? just as on a conventional amp. It?s visually intuitive, so it?s quick and easy to create just the sound you?re looking for.
Convenient line/headphone jack for home recording or late-night practising
You can connect the line/headphone jack to your mixer, multi-track recorder or headphones. Since the character of the cabinet is also added to this signal, the sound will have a sense of ?air? and depth even when you?re listening through headphones or recording direct. The AD100VT & AD50VT both have an external speaker output, and effect-loop jacks have been built into the AD100VT making it convenient to connect with external effect processors.
Adjust the output wattage of the power amp
The AD100VT, AD50VT & AD30VT let you adjust the output wattage from 1~100W(AD100VT), 1~50W(AD50VT) & 1~30W(AD30VT) so you can lower the volume without losing the sense of drive that?s unique to tube amps. You can get the great distinctive tube sound at a volume that?s appropriate for any location.
Footswitchable control
If the optional VFS2 dual foot switch is connected, you can use it to switch between user programs (CH1, CH2) or to bypass the effect. Alternatively, you can choose to have the footswitch activate Manual mode instead of Effect Bypass, which gives you hands-free switching between three different sounds (the two user programs and the Manual settings) for convenience during a live performance.

I bought this amp. for my niece who is 16 and been playing about a year, she also has a 15 watt fender bullet 150 amp. We tried a line 6 spider II, 75 watt modelling amp before this one but she just hated the sounds and effects.
So, I decided after a lot of research, that what she needed was an amp. that gave her a variety of different amplifier emulations and effects (so she can experiment with a variety of sounds rather then get stuck into a certain genre (rut) because her amp only has one sound), but unlike the line 6 which was very strident and unrealistic in it's modelling, the Vox amp. sounds great.
I especially like the UK 70's sound, which is (I've read) based on a Marshall. The 2 fender amp models, and the 2 Vox models are great sounding, and since Vox has modelled two of it's own amps, it seems likely they would have got that right! All in all the 11 different amp. sounds seem well done and give an enormous versatility to a guitar player.
My niece is playing an epiphone Les Paul studio through it, her first electric, and it sounds great, and at a 100 watts, the amp. is overkill at this point (however one can adjust the power output of the amp. from 1 to a 100 watts without sacrificing any overdriving of the tube-it's still all there but not to the point the neighbours are complaining), but someday when she ends up in a band, she'll have all the power she needs.

The reliability of this amp. is great so far. There have been no problems with it at all, it's very well built. I would suggest one goes to a music store and buys one, rather then getting one delivered from a music megagiant store, that way you have support locally, and you can listen to the amp and inspect it before you buy it.
There are some reviews I have read, that suggest the guitar jack falls inside, when I told my niece about that she basically said, well if it get's lose I'll tighten it.
As for other reviews stating that the user gor a few Vox lemons, well that's fair, it's possible but this amp. we have is flawless.
If you're a gigging musician I would suggest you have a backup, no matter what brand of amp. you have.

I would give these guys the benefit of the doubt on customer support, besides I would always take my equipment back to the dealer, rather then try to get someone to fix it over the phone or the computer. One of the reviewers here was complaining he/she wanted info. on the speakers but Vox didn't get back to them. My question is; is it Vox's responsibility to tell you about the characteristics of the speakers? Go to Celestions website with the info. on the speakers and do your own web work. Anyway how is knowing the frequency response or other info. going to help you?
The question is (or should be), do you like how the amp. sounds?
If you do buy it, if not don't.
I don't have any need to call customer support, when and if that time comes I'll deal with the store I bought it at, so I won't rate this section.

My niece has been playing a year of electric and acoustic. She also has an Alvarez AD60CK electric acoustic and a nice little 30 watt crate amp. to go with it
And if it was stolen I'd easily try to get her another one.
It's solid (heavy 63 lbs) and reliable and beautiful, and compared to other amps. in it's price range probably the best buy out there.

Most of the features have been listed already, so there's no need to rehash them again. This amp is a modeler which has 11 different amp sounds, 2 12" speakers, and built-in digital effects. It's a 2 channel amp with an effects loop and built in adjustable power feature. My only gripe is that it doesn't come with a footswitch.

This amp can go from super clean, to bluesy overdrive, to downright balls to the wall distortion. I compared this amp to the sounds of my Line 6 Flextone XL and although the Flextone is a very good amp, the sounds on the Valvetronix are much more livelier, with better clarity and presence. The Valvetronix, like alot of 2 x 12 combos, has alot of bottom end to it. All of the amp models are useable and sound very good. My favorites are the Twin Reverb, the AC30, and the Boutique Overdrive, although as I mentioned, all of the amp models sound great. The effects are equally as good, especially the tremelo, and are easy to tweak. I use strats with this amp, and on the bridge pickup, the tones are full and well-rounded. This amp produces some good midrange tones. I don't find the amp to be especially noisy, as there is a built in noise gate, which is adjustable. I found this amp to take pedals pretty well too, although not necessary as this amp kicks out alot of gain.

I've been playing for 34 years and was looking for a good amp that could be played at bedroom levels as well as put out some power. This amp fits the bill. I love the tube in the power amp section (it's NOT in the preamp) and the adjustable wattage feature. This is not a tube amp, so I'm not going to bother making any comparisons. This amp does the job of modeling tube amps and comes very close. I like the fact that this amp is only two channels, rather than having numerous patches to go through. Overall a very good amp. Better than solid-states, and much better than Line 6.

It models all the usual suspects. I bought it mainly for the Vox models as I have owned many AC30s that I always sold on due to reliability problems.
There are a bunch of in-built effects that I don't use. I'm a middle-aged stompbox man.
The power control on the back is great. For smaller venues I just ease it back a little and it pretty much keeps my tone but quieter. Not very rock and roll but that's how it is.
I gave up with footswitching between sounds on stage as it had a habit of returning to default settings even though I'd saved everything. Lose one point.

I bought this after I borrowed the 50 watt version. It took a bit of work with the tone controls but eventually I was happy with the AC30 setting. Then one day my fingers slipped and I went one beyond and found the UK70s setting. Woah!!! I never had a Marshall that sounded that good (I've had JCM800s and 900s and JTMs). It gave me that Pete Townshend "brraaanngg" that I've searched for since I was a wimpy teen. That was it for me. No looking back. I play Lone Star Strats in a rock/pop covers band and the other guys all agree it gives me a quintessential 70s rock guitar sound. Overdriven but still clear, not mushy. Apart from my sloppy playing. And loud. Oh yes indeed. Top marks here.

Ah the curse of Vox. Sound wonderful for the 10 minutes they work. I'm hoping this will be better. I've used it on half a dozen gigs and it hasn't let me down. Yet. But I can't give any Vox amp 10 out of 10. There's too much history there.

I've been playing for 30 odd years now and this is possibly the best amp I've ever had. I can't believe I just wrote that. I've had Voxes, Fenders, Boogies and Marshalls and they all had their (many) good points and (some) bad points. I know it's crazy but this one just seems to have a sound that my ears say is THE guitar sound I like. And it was ridiculously cheap. God bless the Chinese. Forget the effects. Forget switching between presets. If you're an old school "one sound" man like me this will not disappoint. It's the one amp that makes me forget I sold my Carlsbro 50 Top. Sniff.

iv owned the amp for 5 months now.i got it as the ultimate all rounder.as you know a nifty little knob on the back to adjust the wattage output. it's so flexible. its a practice amp and gigging amp in one. you can programe in two of your own channels. this is not enough at all. any regular guitarist needs about ten at least. i had to buy a channel switching pedal for it, it should have come with one of those too. iv used this amp at home mostly so far.fills my garage nicley with sound. has lots of effects but it'd be nice to mix more than two at a time and ones you pick yourself. but it really is a good alrounder in features beside these little mistakes

It sounds awesome, but you just have to do a bit of tweaking. The guy before who was saying it sounds like crap is an idiot and probably didn't read the manual. You can get some of the best clean sounds around from this amp, as well as some pretty good distorted/overdriven sounds too (These are admittingly a bit harder to tweak). The effects aren't top notch, but they're adequate.

the amp has lots of features. unlike its smaller siblings in the AD range,it incorporates an effects loop. it can be set up as a 3 channel amp if needed...has lots of user friendly fx but with the exception of the reverb and delay,i think they are pretty worthless. plenty of power for my needs and so far does not have any problems keeping up with the band.

i play in a R&B band in vegas...i aint playin sweaty, greasehog whisky bars...im a professional who plays the best showrooms...the only SOUNDS I USE ON THIS AMP is boutique CLEAN, TWEED,AND 70S MARSHALL. the clean sounds can be thin if you dont have the gain up..i like the reverb and delay on this amp but i think all the modulation effects sound like typical digital crap! i traded my ad50vt in for this amp thinkin the 100 watter would sound better but believe it or not i preffered the sound of the 50 watter...all this aside, the 3 settings i use are very wonderful... the clean sound is top notch, and u.k.70s is very warm, even with a stock bridge strat pick up...i never mess with all the hi gain crap...im not tryin to be 18 again.

i bought this amp 4 weeks ago. i was trying a couple of different amps in the shop. amongst others i played the 50W version of this mp and really liked it at low volumes. so i thought the 100W 2x12 should be just what i need! i didn't care much about the modelling/sounds-like mesa, plexi, dumble shit - just liked the over-all tone pretty much (especcially the uk70's setting). so i ordered myself this amp to play it in the rehearsal room and on stage with my band.
well...it arrived - i first was very impressed by the building quality and weight...but when first played it loud i was completely
dissappointed.
we're playing stoner rock-foofighterish music and i thought this amp should be just right for it... but it isn't.
the only setting that works at all is the uk80's amp.
its tonality really gives a little bit of a punch with a smooth distortion but all the others just didn't work at all for me.
all the amp models either create not enough punch (numetal, us-higain,boutique-od) or weak sounds with honky mids (ac30tb, ac15)
but the worst for me is the plexi simulation. that one was the main reason for me to buy it- sounded amazing in the shop or played just by myself - but in the band you just CAN'T create a sound that
you can actually hear through the other instruments. at high volumes it just gets bassy, mushy and ugly. and no way to tweak it right.
the effects are of very bad quality also. the compressor and the reverb work quite well but all the modulation sounds are just weak, flat and digital sounding. i've honestly rarely heard a chorus sounding that bad.
the noisegate (normally a very useful feature) always influences the input signal, even when turned to minimum. so when your guitar volume turned to let's say one third it still cuts your tone.
The preset sounds are not useable because of their completely exaggerated effect amount. the manual mode leaves you unsatisfied
because of the completely exaggerated amp-modulation tonalities.
the tone controls are supposed to work like the tone controls on the
original amps. well, i used to have a plexi and a jcm800 and i
played ac30s and twin reverbs. sorry but the tone controls on either of these amps worked completely different than the rip-off versions on this AD100vt because the vox designers were so keen on getting this thing to sound like for example a recto that you just can't
weaken the annoying tonality that seems to be vox's interpretation
of a recto by tweaking the tone controls.
if a mesa recto would sound like THAT noone would ever play it.
but to be fair i need to say that the clean sound are really quite good. it's just that i never use really clean sounds.
over-all said: this amp is completely useless for me.
i'd say the 15-50 watts are nice little amps. they sound great at low volumes and give you a versatility and quality that is outstanding at this price.
but a 100W 2x12 combo is usually built for high volumes and professional use. and that's were it just doesn't work!
it is NOT a professional amplifier and everyone (like me) who thought 'wow, what a bargain!' should consider to spend slightly more money and buy a real thing.
it's a toy! a great, big, very loud one but still a toy.

i played this amp with a gretsch duojet and a godin artisan telecaster.
as said above i hated it and just returned it to the shop.
i've spent some extra money and bought an AC30 head with 2x12
and some stompboxes and now seem to have found what i need.
though everybody denies it i am now convinced that modeling amps still are miles away from a tube amp's tone quality. the AD100VT sounded good played by itself but had strong weaknesses within the band context. and -sorry- what should such a huge amp be built for if not playing with a band?
i would recommend the smaller versions but not this one.

The preset selector knob was out of whack! For exapmle if the knob was pointing to "AC30" I would be getting a "70's British" preset. Just a misplaced knob---fixed easily. Also my replacement was a bit noisier than the original. These amps have a nice look, sound, and are solid enough physically, but I just can't trust this model. I have never had to return products like this before and I have been playing professionally for over 20 years. Hopefully others have had a better experience. The amp models are pretty convincing for a lower budget model. I especially like the AC30 setting for clean and the Nu-Metal for crunch. I use Les Pauls, SGs, a Parker and a Haggard Tele. There is a handy wattage knob that adjusts the power amp wattage while allowing you to keep the full krank sound. Very handy.

This amp died on me during the first studio session!!!! Musicians Friend replaced it without a problem. Normally I would have NEVER given Vox another chance. It caused me quite a bit of frustration when it quit working. (not to mention the session $$$ I lost....maybe I should go after Vox for the lost wages!!) Due to the great sound I am giving this amp another shot. Defects are a fact of life when products are manufactured but it just seems to me that I have seen quite a bit more problems with quality in recent years. I believe manufacturers need to step up and take care of the working professionals who get burned by their defects. Unfortunately in the corporate world today it is more about sticking it to us than making great products. It has become pretty scary to go on stage without a couple of back up rigs!

I play this amp in a band and has the power to push but the speakers are not not that good I have know idea what kind of speakers are in this amp all it states on the back of the speakers is VOX. I bought this amp at North Coast Music and has the gril cloth that makes it look like a AC/30 cause that metal grill has to go, I don't know why Vox would ever come up with that style of gril....what were they thinking of when they installed that gril.

I compared this amp to the AD50VT and this amp blows that one out of the water so for me spending $200.00 more was well worth the price.
And if you want a amp that works right the frist time and want a nice looking amp get the amp from North Coast Music and get the black gril upgrade you will be happy you did. Remember that North Coast Music don't send you a amp with out them testing the amp 1st and checking it over to make sure that it looks GOOD and everything WORKS when you get this amp from them. So it's your money but go to that web page before buying any Vox amp from any other company you won't be sorry. Have any questions about this amp you can e-mail me.

Used with a 92 EVH Musicman / USA Strat. I like the versatility of the 11 amp modes, effects and use this for smaller gigs. I already own the AD 120 VTH and 4x12 cab but this was just too big for some smaller venues. So i use this AD100VT. I like the simplicity of this model as opposed to using the V12 floorboard on the other amp. What i didnt really like was the stock speakers supplied with it. Ok they do a reasonable job, but i changed to G12 Celestion Centurys and the results are unbelievable !!!Using a footswitch and tweaking i can get all the sounds i like, clean and distorted I just put my Morley Tremonti wah in front and a programmable delay (Boss DD20)in the effects loop and ROCK. Give it a full 10 with the speaker change, 8 without.

Amp seems to be ok for the short time i have owned it.Only one valve to go wrong....All valves are guaranteed only for 3 months so carry a spare !!! Nice to have only one to change instead of the armfull i had on my AC30 TBX or Marshall DSL 100.
Nice thing is NOS Mullard Ecc83's are still out there..
Check out Ebay and have a play !!!Only one valve to find, like to hear from anyone who has changed the stock valve on this. The stock valve is probably a Sovtek / Electro Harmonix Ecc83 but still sounds good. Stock speakers are probably NOT Celestions as in the AD 50 VT, I believe they are more likely Korean copies of the Seventy/80 16 ohm Celestions made for Vox. The speaker is not that bad but i didnt like the bass break up at volume.

Have been playing for 25 years plus, Used many different guitars/amps and effects.I like this amplifier, it does exactly what it says on the box, the speaker change has breathed life into it and gives the full speaker emulations a chance to work through some good drivers.
It is loud nad the effects are good quality sounds. I have read some Odd reviews from other people re: The Vox Valvetronix amplifiers. I say Odd as i get such good tone and sounds out of mine. Let you into a BIG secret here, read the manual, put the master all the way up, with a high volume on guitar for a full on distortion, roll back the guitar to clean it up. Use the Amp Volume to set level of amp simulation, not overall volume and control the whole lot with the rear power level control. The valve harmonics are awesome doing this. I play in a classic ROCK band AC/DC, Velvet Revolver, Motorhead, etc...This does it all i love the 80's Marshall sound, but all of the emulations are spot on...with the right drivers.

I am using a fender USA strat and its sound great... it suit all style of music (unless your a heavy distorted metaliica fan but a #40 footpdeal would sort it out). It sounds absolutly beutiful on some of the cleaner models... my mg30DFX sounds crap clean... this is like skating on glass.. its very soft and smooth (if you want! so so versitile!)
It is loud!
I play funk, blues, and proper rock (i.e. before i was born!)
It will work and is loud enough for gigging!-- if the gigs big... mic it!!

Brand new model from Vox/Korg, plenty of features with 11 amp models and 11 single and combination effects. 2x12, VOX original speakers...not sure if these are made by celestion but I doubt they are as this would be a marketing point for them. Built on the Valvetronix chassis with a low power 12AX7 in the output stage as opposed to the pre-amp section. It has plenty of power. I played on an outdoor stage last week and it had no trouble keeping up. Typical VOX chicken head knobs, 2 pre-set switchable "write" channels. The usual compliment of rear input and output jacks.

I use this amp with a Korean Squire bordello tele, Stratocaster and Turser hofner copy six string. The amp models cover everything from very clean to brutally distorted...I'm not sure how accurate each of the amp voices are but they all seem to do a different job. There is no noise to speak of thanks to the internal gate but you need to be careful that it is not clamped to tight or you lose the musicality of the instrument. I would guess that if you can't find a suitable sound with this amp that you are not really trying very hard. The only thing I find odd is that the 100 watt version seems thinner than the 50 was..this may be attributed to the open back cabinet on the AD100 or the speakers. It just requires a bit more tweaking of the EQ.

I've owned a number of VOX amps in the past from a vintage Berkeley II combo to a cambridge 30 twin. The 30 twin was a nightmare with to many problems to list here. I liked the sound and had hoped for more from this amp. It broke down twice and took over 3 months to fix...I swore that I would never own another VOX but an AD30 and 50 later, here I am. I still don't trust it so I'll split the difference.

Korg (the North American distributor) was of no help when I had the problems with my Cambridge 30R a few years back...I can't begin to tell you how poor the service was and how difficult they were to deal with. Perhaps, things have improved in this area but I guess I won't know until I need to contact them again. I tried to contact VOX in England to discuss the issue with their product but the machine that could measure their indifference to my problems had obviously not been invented yet. The saving grace of course is that my local music store will be responsible for the duration of the warranty but after that, I'm afraid you'll be on your own.

Been playing for about 25 years. I am an average rhythm guitar player and I always hope that my gear will be a help rather than a hinderence. I also own a KUSTOM Quad 100DFX with twin celestions that is a fantastic amp...I'm not sure the VOX will take its place yet. I like most features of the VOX amp but I'm not crazy about the effects selected automatically with the amp presets and how the volume can jump wildly if you move any of the controls when in preset mode. I usually use the manual mode for each of the amp models and dial it in the way I like it. I came to this amp via the AD30, which I liked but was to small...to the AD50 that I liked but was not quite gigable and finally to the AD100. I think I'd buy it again but not sure the AD 50 wouldn't have been a better amp to have around as a backup.

One point here, it says Options VFS2 dual foot switch, but the owners manual has an asterisk next to the sold separately item and the asterisk says something like VFS2 Included w/ AD100VT, but mine DID NOT include one. I need to get to who I bought it from and ask about that or ask Vox themselves

I currently have a Gibson SG w/ normal dual humbuckers in it, but I have a Fender Stratocaster w/ three gold lace sensor pickups I'll try later. It's not here w/ me yet. I play typical alt rock, and electronic type music and the amp has some great tones, from clean and even subtle effects like chorus, flangers, phasers, leslie etc, as well as some good OverDrives and Distortion. The tube section of this thing really warms up the tone and makes it feel like a full tube amp. It sounds clean so far, I haven't had a chance to really crank it up loud and hear it but at lower volumes it still sounds good and clean or nice and crunchy. The variety of what you can do in the amp seems really nice, but I haven't had a chance to twirl it around a lot yet.
I'll have to update you more as I get time to play it, but since the amp wasn't here yet I wanted to create a section for it.

I'll find this out soon too when I ask why the users manual says the AD100VT comes w/ a footswitch but mine had none.

I've been playing guitar for quite a while, and I have a fender amp right now, all tube blues deluxe, and I love the tube sound, I've been wanting a vox, but didn't want a full on top of the line one right now, my fender is out of commission for a bit and I needed a second combo amp, this lil guy seems to be able to handle that job for me, and may become my main amp.
