bought new on boxing day sale .chrome series valvetronics 1 input, has preset, manual and 2 channel memory, models 11 amps, has 11 effects.some are 2 effects at once, like comp and chorus together, but i wish you could use more effects at once.also it only runs at 8 or 16 ohms.my cab was wired 4 ohms or 8 stereo so i had to use the 2 outputs to the cab and set it to stereo.that causes the output to be reduced to 50 watts.its still plenty loud and the sound is awesome. i slipped a behringer fbq800 eq into the effects loop to fatten up the sound and it made a huge difference

this amp sounds awesome it models marshals, fenders, boogies.its good for any type of music.the cleans are clean the dirt amps are dirty.oh ya one thing i forgot to mention.when switching to different ampsthe preamp changes.what i mean is like a fender twin didn't have a middle control,so when you switch to a twin the middle knob becomes non funtioning...its a little confusing..but its their way of keeping the modeled amps accurate..i guess.also it only takes a 2 pedal footswitch ,and thats just stupid.all this good stuff and no switching for it

i'm a long time player.i bought this because my blues deville fried and i needed a cheap replacement.this at 234 canadian was the right price.if it got stolen i would try to find its big brother the ad120vt blueface head to replace it.it has more amp models and takes the bigger footswitch.but for what i paid,i'm happy

11 amp modeling valve reactor technology built in Viet Nam the music capital?what?Viet Nam?I'm callin this thing Charlie!I love Charlie! He models amps and sounds that I've been trying to find for years. This amp has 1 channel,1 line out,2 main outs a power output knob and apresence knob on the rear as well as a load switch for either 8 or 16 ohms.I'm running it with both outputs to the stereo jacks on my bg412v cab,its loud as i'll ever need and its sweet sounds make it hard to turn it off

I'm using a Switch innovo III signature guitar with it and its exactly what i have been searching for.it has noise reduction so pretty much a straight quiet great amp.at higher volumes my innovo sometimes wants to squeel, probly my fault,i forgot the shielding last time i worked on it.this amp clean is incredible and the valvetronix patches you can get off the internet are easy as pie to implement.no pages of bull**** like some amps and multi-effects just turn some knobs.I wish it had more than 2 channell memory but hey,my old blues deville had no memory

Can you depend on it?This is a tough one,it doesn't seem all that tough ,and has a cheap looking input jack that i can see breaking someday.these amps have been around awhile so others may have better opinions than me about reliability.I'm just gonna be careful and enjoy it.

I'm older than dirt and have had marshalls ,hi-watts,fenders 0f every size and shape. For the last14 years i've used a 212 blues deville and loved it. this amp can model that in a heartbeat.I bought this because the deville broke down and this was cheap, what an awesome suprise when i plugged it in for the first time. The new models are coming out already and this will be a dinosaur, but i'm one already.Go down to your nearest vox viet nam dealer and try one out, they are exceptional amps

I'm using an Epi Les Paul Custom (one that really smoulders too) and the hard rock/metal tones coming from this inexpensive hybrid amplifier are OUTSTANDING. Now there is, as stated elsewhere on this review, lots of tweaking involved and various cabs to try but if you wanna play hard rock/metal, get an axe with GOOD pickups and it's all in here. I've played many tube amp brands and yes, there are some that really do smoke but this amp and cab for the dollars are really, really good too. After twenty five plus years of playing and being a bit of a self admitting tone/tube snob, I'm keeping this amp for small gigs, recording and noodling around on without hesitation.

Vox Valvetronix 100W head. 11 effects, adjustable wattage (1-100W)
different amp models etc
solid state modeling amp w/ tube preamp I believe?
I play rock from Paramore to Breaking Benjamin styles, but some Beatles and System of a Down thrown in there too I guess.
It's a hugely versatile amp, from that vintage Vox AC15 - AC30 sound to a crazy nu-metal gainy sound.

Using it with an Epiphone Dot Studio and Schecter Tempest Custom both with stock pickups.
The amp sounds pretty good at most volumes, and the clean channel retains it's clarity at pretty loud volumes too.
I've been able to play a variety of distortions to try to refine what suits my style best, and for that this amp is great.
The distortions sound good too, with the actual tube and all. Much better than the Line 6 modeling amps I've used.

I've been playing for about 6 years on and off, so I'm not exceptional as far as playing and technique goes, but I know a lot about tone I suppose.
I would get something else if this were stolen, but for the price, you can't really beat it, since it sounds so much better than other modeling amps.
I've been going through heads such as a Crate Blue Voodoo, Marshall MG and now this and I have to say this is my favorite, especially the most versatile.

I,ve had this amp for about 1 year now, and after much tinkering, have found my perfect tone. I play any thing from Pink Floyd, to Lamb og God, but prefer neo classical styles. I mainly bought this amp as a practice amp. I never intended to gig with it. I love tube amps, but I hate spending hours dialing them in. I decided to go with a modeling amp, to spend less time dialing in a tone, then playing. This amp is very easy to use and dial in. Honestly, some amp models sound better than others. This amp has a real tube like tone to it. The boutique clean channel sounds great, as well as the US high gain channel. It does a very good job of capturing certain amplifiers. My favorite is the 80's Marshall channel. It has the right preamp tone for my style, but lacks a bit of sustain and overdrive. I've had a marshall jackhammer pedal for years, and put this in front of it with just a hair of overdrive, and volume, and it helped out immensly. It has a very fluid tone to it that really sings, and screams. I can switch from Yngwie to David Gilmour with out changing any settings, just my playing style. The delay is awsome, and so is the flanger. It has the "unchained" sound. Tone wise, a great amp, for very cheap.

After about 3 months, the amp blew a fuse, and several transistors. I had a local amp tech service it, and now it almost sounds better than before. Cost about 100$ though. I wouldn't trust it for touring at all, as it seems it would just not physically hold up. Have used for several smaller gigs, works just fine.

Great as a practice amp. Like I said, you don't have to spend a lot of time finding the right tone. I do love the tone, and I've been playing through it a lot lately, but I just don't trust it on the road.

2007 model w/ 2 user preset channels + a manual setting.
11 amp models - 11 FX choices (some are doubles such as chorus-delay).
There is an FX loop in the back but NO send/return level conrols; and an adjustable power setting control that goes from single digits to 100 watts. It's a hybrid SS meets 12AX7 (with a mini-tube as well) for warmer sounds than Line 6 gear.

The amp models are pretty good for the most part, but their boutique (Dumble) settings are not quite the same as the real thing. The various distortion/Marshall style settings are better than other amps in this range. It works well with both single coils & humbuckers. But there are limitations: it really can't cop the chime of the AC30 and blackface Fender tones. It just doesn't seem to get really clean; and the same is true when you crank all the full wattage. It starts to hum and crap out slightly. Checking the bottom of the head to see if the EH 12AX7 is going bad is also smart to do (no mention of that in the manual).

At a current strett price of $399.00, it is made with plastic input jacks & amp corners. It's decently vented and has good rubber feet as well. But if you AB it against other companies with better build quality, you will see a difference. Bring back up if you're on a important gig. One year warranty.

A good spare amp for practice or lower importance gigs, this thing will spare you packing extra pedals or a rack. But they have cut corners in the areas of build quality & components; and this thing starts to lose body/tone when pushed to it's limits. Bang for the buck, but what do you want for under $400?

It has a number of really good amp modeling settings. It really like the built-in effects. The adjustable output wattage makes this easy to get some really crankin' sounds at low volume. And this will get loud enough to play a big room, without a PA.

Tube pre-amp help this get this kind of subtle distortion and tone I like. I use a Danelecto and a Les Paul (some combination, yes?), with not outside effects. Speaker cabinet is old 2X12 Peavey.

New Valvetronix modeling amp head. 100 Watts at 8ohms. Two foot-switchable, programmable channels, one "user" channel (third channel). LOUD and sounds great. Perfect for gigging. Effects loop, headphone/line out. It has an attenuator on the back that lets you dial in how much power to use, from I think 1 to 100 watts, so you can get cranked up tones at low volumes. I've tried it through my Marshall 4x12 with celestions and through a 2x12 with Carvin speakers and it sounds great and LOUD through both. Its mono and has a preamp tube.
On the line out, I am dissapointed that it cuts the power to the speakers when you use it. It would have been handy to use the amp and run a line signal to the board for gigs.

The sound quality considering the price and options is outstanding. There are several great amp models. My favs so far are the AC15, AC30 and 70s marshall. They have a lot of character and fullness. Easy replaces a tube amp for me for gigs anyway. Very loud and clean.
It has some other models that have a lot of different types of distortion. It has a noinse gat I believe and is pretty quiet without it anyway.

Heres the problem. My first one that arrived FedEx was broken. I opened it up and the box was broken, the chassis was bent and the circuit board was broke, wires broke loose etc. It is one of the flimsiest constructed amps I have ever personally seen. bet one good drop from a 4x12 and it might literally go splat- splintering into shreds. The box is made of thin particle board and was broken on mine. The wires were harnessed together tightly with plastic straps so tightly that they pull loose if the chassis flexes. The chassis metal is way too flexible and thin.
Aside from physical damage I dont know yet about reliability.

Benn playing long time. Used various amps Marshall, Fender, etc.
I've got a replacement coming. I think its perfect for live regardless of the fragility. I might build a better box for it.
I;ve tried POD, I own Johnson. This is the best.
Wish it had line out that didnt kill the power to speakers.
