Purchased directly from ISP Technologies last year, the Waller DFX65 combo is a 65 watt, solid state combo amp that really gets it done. It features a single Eminence 12" speaker in a closed back cabinet for nice tight bass. This two channel combo amp has a bright switch for the clean channel as well as a boost feature for the gain channel, along with a master volume control and eq for Bass, Mid, and Treble (separate eqs for each channel would be sweet, but not a biggie). The digital effects on board include chorus/flange, delay, and reverb. There is a tap tempo button and "effects level" knob to adjust where it fits in the mix.

The biggest (and the best) feature that this amp provides is ISP Technologies patented "decimator" noise reduction system, which can be activated with the push of a button. This noise reduction feature is flat-out awesome! I can have high gain, high volume going, and if I don't touch my strings, you can't even tell the amp is on! Great feature for a combo amp.

I also picked up the 6 button footswitch, which controls Channel switching, gain boost, Delay, Chorus/Flange, Reverb, and tap tempo (FX and Tap are run by MIDI). I honestly only need 2 buttons for channel switching/gain boost because I leave the reverb on all the time and the other effects are left off (any effects I need come from my digitech RP 80). You could actually run two "channel" footswitches and have access to all the channel and boost features...

I play in a rock cover band, spanning from Cream to Judas Priest to Van Halen to Ozzy, etc.... and this covers it all. I play Ibanez RG models with humbucking and single coil pickups and the pallate of sounds you can achieve from this amp is awesome. In the clean channel, I keep the bright switch on, and in the 2/4 positions of my guitar, I get an almost "electro acoustic" sound. In gain mode, between boost/non boost and different pickups, I can get any sound I want. The dirt is very "musical". In fact, we do a song that features a lot of dynamics and some feedback and the DFX responds perfectly!

Reliability : 8
This is my gigging amp and has been wonderful. I did run into a problem with the DFX "wigging out" on me, but Buck and Shelly (the owners) worked with me and got things fixed in a jiffy. The only other issue I had was that it was cutting out. This ended up being that a speaker wire was getting loose. We crimped it, and haven't had a problem since. Very reliable....

Customer Support : 10
As stated above, Buck and Shelly Waller are awesome! Good people and easy to communicate with. They were both very helpful, in my initial purchase, as well as the minor issues that I had. My band also uses ISP Technologies PA speakers and have had a very positive experience across the board. Proud to have a Michigan company doing things right!

Overall Rating : 8
Good amp that has been "road tested", with a good company behind it.
