Replaced the blue marvel with the veteran in my peavey classic 30. WOW!! i didnt like the blue marvel that much but man does this thing sing nice now.. the speaker hasnt even been broken in and this thing sounds so good. I dont know what people were saying about cone cry in a 1x12 because i aint hearing nothing but warm beautiful tone. Trust me you will love this speaker.

All i can say is these speakers are put together as good or better than the celestions as for the components. But the sound is much better. i have a celestion 2X12 with vintage 30's and I want veterans in there. I also want to pull my sheffields out of my 5150 cab as well. I have went through countless gear in my lifetime. 25 years playing guitar. This is a great deal for these speakers.. much better than celestions imho..

FEATURES: Well, it is a 12" speaker w/two terminals and flange holes to mount. Not much else to say or want? On second thought, speakers "feature" a specific sound. Or at least they are marketed that way. And because the Vet 30 does what it is said to do, and then some, I will give in and assign the unattainable.... a 10.

Sound quality is as advertised. Very much like what it professes to clone, minus the WGS "improvement" over the original. Tone is subjective from ear to ear. WGS professes to smooth out the Celes's upper-mids, and it does. However, when I A/B them in matching cabs I hear a more smooth response (w/my ears) across the entire mid spectrum. As mentioned in "Features", it does what it says and more. In fairness to the original Celes's, I like them a LOT. They're great. Overpriced, but great. The WGS speakers are still a bargain even after the price hikes. Bottom line for sound, I like the WGS speakers better. So much so that when I was done w/extensive A/B'ing, I sold off the Celes's and never looked back. Both of my matching 2x12's are sporting the Vet 30's. They work very well w/my SS rack rig and sound slightly better w/my Tube head.

OK. Normally I am pretty careful w/my equipment. Though I am not OCD about nicks, bumps, bruises, etc. I have absolutely punished these speakers for over 2 years. I do not recommend but, I have thrown well over the rated watts at these things on a regular basis and they have not replied w/one single blurt, flart, pling or gonk.

I was able to speak to "The Big Guy" on the phone before I ordered. Not sure how possible that is now w/his constantly increasing customer base. He was extremely helpful, considerate and professional. My 4 speakers arrived on time and in perfect condition - extremely well packaged product.

I'm not going to go into the musician's self-indulgent resume crap. You could care less, nor should you. You want to know about THESE speakers. So I tried to keep my comments mainly focused on them. My categorical ratings for this product is on the higher side of most others - even those I am quite happy with. They are as advertised, and more. They seem to be overbuilt and have withstood my constant abuses. A no-brainer 9 for overall.

Not too many "features" on a speaker. It's labeled "WGS 2007". Has a small dust cap (when compared to even a 10" Jenson "mod" which is a bit smaller than the 10" Laney it sits next to, surely smaller than any other 12"). Has some sort of light weight cast basket. Looks to be a nice big solid magnet. Mounting ring and gluey stuff on speaker appear to be well-done. Electronic connections solid.
As you read my review...keep in mind I'd rather have a sharp stick in my eye than shop for speakers. I love to tinker, maintain my amps and guitars, change pups trouble shoot what have you...but I HATE trying to decipher what a speaker will do to your sound.

This speaker was used to replace a Gallien-Krueger Paragon 100 watt speaker in the Backline 100 1x12 100 watt combo. This is important, as the amp is solid state, so you can reasonably expect even better performance in your tube amp. If it can improve SS, then... Fist thing I noticed is the overall tone tightened up. I had thought the amp "mushy"...indistinct. The amp brightened up without getting harsh. Notes became more intelligible. The tone is very even across the spectrum....doesn't seem to pick any frequency to over-stress. I admit I wasn't prepared to crank the VERY loud 100 watt amp, but I did turn it up to practice/some gigs volume and it stayed tight and pleasant.

I can't imagine being negative about the speaker. I have quite a few lying around (I think I counted about 24 w/PA gear), so I have a lot to compare it to. The guy below with all the technical problems?...well...he COULD have a dud...or he could just be a know-it-all never pleased kind of guy too, the speaker seems very well made at a great price. I once bought a close-out Carvin for just a bit less and I ditched them IMMEDIATELY. I believe this speaker would serve you well in nearly any application in a low/mid watt combo, as well as bigger 2 and 4x12. The small dust cap is my only concern...only because I haven't seen this type. I know we over-value the cap...it can be smashed even punctured without a noticeable effect on your sound...so...might be nothing. Check an expert for that.

WOW !
I went from a Celestion Vintage 30 to the Veteran 30 because I did not like the low-mid produced by the Celestion. This speaker solved that problem and more !
Extremely well rounded with smooth highs and creamy mid. I love this speaker ! I have since compared the speaker again in the same amp to make sure it was not just in my head......no comparison.
I have been using Celestions since the 80's, until now.

well it makes the amp come alive with a balanced and fat sound. my music style is just rock nothing really heavy. i run strats and strat types through a home made amp that is in the 18 watt camp, or a pro junior and both sound good with this speaker. i like the tightness of a heavier (higher wattage) speaker with my low wattage amps so the amp is doing the work. i was initially worried this speaker would have a fizzy top end but that is not the case at least with these amps. and its not brittle with the low wattage either.

i sent an email before i bought it and never got a response but i still bought it based on the reviews and advertising. it is possible my question was to in depth to cover, or they just said whatever. i am used to not expecting customer support though. purchasing stuff is a journey into the unknown and you are left to decide for yourself, before you buy, what the important factors are in your quest. if you are poor enough you will reach an understanding of all the questions in some way before you ever make the purchase. somehow this releases the seller from responsibility, but if you do need service and are pushed aside, it is understood that you can tell everyone about it on the internet. technically its to soon to rate the service since i wasn't a customer when i sent my question. and that is another subject.

I was 7 years old in 1974 when i began playing and i am worse now than when i was 17(i wanted to be the first person here to NOT act like i am great). i would repurchase this item even though the price just went up again. love /hate i don't know. no i did not compare it to other products(really) i got it based on what it should sound like, i have never even played through a vintage 30. its price was for sure a factor. it just sounds like i thought it would after doing extensive research and listening to samples and calibrating what everyone says to my own specifications. yes i am poor and things like this can become an obsession when you have more time than money.

Very nice! I love this speaker & it is well balanced. Does well with humbuckers/single coils, heavy distortion, and cleans.
If you like playing more of an '80's hair/metal with lots of distortion, this speaker handles it well. It can be pretty tight with good articuation. This speaker handles heavy distortion picking very well and does a nice job with lower distortion-> clean picking as well.
I've only been able to test this with a Rivera R-55 & a Budda SD18 at lower volumes, but it stands out as the best all around speaker among the lists below.
I'm only using singles so far and I have a couple of amps/cabinets I can use to A/B speakers.
Speakers I've been able test directly with the WGS V-30:
Celestion G12T-75, WGS Green Beret, Budda Phat-12 & Eminince Man O War.
Speakers that I've also tried in the last year and sold:
Celestion Alnico Blue, V-30 & G-12H. Eminence Govenor.
At the going price of $45 plus shipping, this is a steal. I think that one day WGS speakers may become very respectable speakers and that some amp makers will start using their products in their amps/cabinets.

I have the WGS Veteran 30's in a 1977 Sunn Alpha 212R Combo Amp, and in a 2-12 cabinet. I think it's important for users to know that new speakers need to be broken in. Once I played these for about 10 hours they really opened up. In the Sunn amp, the sound was immediately different. It made a big change in the sound quality, and all for the better. I have played the 2-12 cab with a Marshall JCM 900 SL-X (50 watt), a Genz-Benz El Diablo, and a Silvertone 484 Twin Twelve, and it works well with all of them.
The highs and mids all come through fine with plenty of tone, without being harsh. The bottom end (bass) has found that sweet spot between being too flabby, and too tight. It's nice that you get plenty of bottom end, but it doesn't overtake your sound.
I've had no problems with them being able to handle clean, just a touch of overdrive, or over the top distortion. They handle everthing just fine.

The very first thing I noticed when I got these speakers was the quality of how they were built. It can be tough to buy speakers sight unseen, but I was immediately impressed with the quality. I have never had any issues with the speakers, and they have held up to any and all playing.

I can honestly say that I have talked to the owner (via e-mail) and he's a very nice guy. If anyone were to have any problems, I'd highly encourage them to shoot an e-mail to WGS. This is one music company that is actually very customer friendly.

I've been playing music for 20 years, and playing guitar for 10. I have owned mostly british style amps and speakers (Marshall, Genz-Benz, Celestions.) I do love Sunn products, if you can find someone who will actually part with one.
I would definately buy these again if they were lost, stolen, or destroyed.
I love the sound, I definately love the price. The customer service is wonderful. The shipping was quick, and not by any means overpriced. I can't think of anything that I don't like about them.
Compared to the Celestions, they are less expensive, and have a quicker shipping time. To my ear, you are not getting any less of a great sound. 10 out of 10 times, I'd choose the WGS over the Celestions.

Great speaker, blows away the Celestion Vintage 30. I usually hate vintage 30's because the high mid spike just kills my ears after about an hour. The Warehouse speaker solves this problem, they do a better job then Eminence does with the Governor. The Governor is Eminence's take on a V30 but it is a little different; the Warehouse speaker is a much better clone of the original without all the negative attributes.
How anyone could bash this speaker is beyond me, I've listened to all kinds of speakers and nothing is perfect. If you want early break up then you sacrifice loud clean power, and the opposite is also true; the guys who want everything need to come back to reality.
One thing I did find with this speaker is when I turn it up it seems to keep getting louder, it doesn't reach a certain level and then start compressing or should I say lose steam. It has bite, but is not harsh and warm without being too bloated. With overdrive, the harmonics cut through and the tone does not getting buried in the mix.
Of all the speakers I have ever tried this might be my overall favorite for all applications.

As I said earlier these are flat out great speakers. They would be a great deal at double the cost, luckily right now they are far less expensive. With all the choices available it becomes tough to decide what speaker will work for you. I'm glad I took a chance on these speakers and I would recommend them to anyone.

The review is for a pair of 12" 16 ohm Warehouse Veteran 30 Guitar speakers.Intended copies of Celestion Vintage 30, they are mounted in a 2'x2'x1' 1" pine cabnet, parallel wired for 8ohms. It is powered via a Peavey Clessic 30 with JJ power tubes and Tong-sol preamp tubes. Replaced a pair of Eminence Legends.

I use them with moded Ibanez Roadstar, a Moded Lado Hawk, a G&L ASAT Special, and an Ernie Ball Rosewood Axis. I play country twang, clean jazz and instrumental/melodic rock. It works for twang...but there are twangier...it works for clean jazz...as well as any...It works for distorted rock...more sweetly than a real v30. Sweet and characterful, rich and smooth, fullbodied and colourful...like a good coffee...or a woman. I could hardly be more pleased. But I only give it 9 beacause it doesn't do it all (see twang comment). If I played only rock, it would rate a strong 10 on the "plus" scale! Blew me away.

If you want addictivly sweet warm distorted sounds coming from your speakers. Get 'em.
I wrote this review in absolute terms, without factoring price. When one consideres, the price however, I can hardly recommend purchasing from another company at this point...unless you like paying more for less. Fear not...these are not "rip off" cheapo's using the old marketing tool of offering the "same for less" just to unload some junk. They are good speakers and would be competative with other brands at 2-3times the price.

To me, it sounds like a smoother and less harsh version of a Celestion Vintage 30. The bottom end seemed similar to the Vintage 30, but the mids seemed less "honky" and the highs were smoother.
I compared this speaker to a Celestion Vintage 30 and an Eminence Tonespotter with my Gibson Goldtone GA-15RV 1x12 EL84 amp in two applications: as the internal speaker and in a Mesa 1x12 3/4 back cab.
Using the Mesa cab, all three speakers sound pretty much the same except the Vintage 30 is harsher. Perhaps the cab's bottom end masks the differences.
The differences in speakers was much more apparent when used as the internal speaker for the amp. The Celestion Vintage 30 is very aggressive and "in your face". It has a somewhat "honky" tone that is tamed if you use an EQ to make cuts around the 800Hz frequency. The highs are harsh. In contrast the Veteran 30, is mellower. Much less harsh and honky. Yet it retains the low end of the Vintage 30. I found it to be even smoother sounding than the Eminence Tonespotter, which is known for being smooth.
Another reviewer mentioned this speaker has "cone cry" in a 1x12 configuration, which is also a common complaint leveled at the Eminence Tonespotter. I don't know what "cone cry" sounds like, so I don't know if I experienced it. However one day, I noticed my guitar sounded "bigger" than usual, almost 12-string-like. I thought I had left my chorus pedal on, but I hadn't. I wonder if that was cone cry. It sounded pretty cool. But I haven't experienced that since that day and I don't know if I could attribute that to the speaker.
