This little 30 watt practice is amp has an input jack and headphone input. The chicken head knobs make it look like a Fender blues amp. It has clean/overdrive channels switchable on the unit itself. The tolex is more like wallpaper. It has no texture to it. It looks like tolex from 15 feet, but up close it appears chip. It's a closed back case and the power cord isn't not detachable.

Sound Quality : 4
I've been using my stock MIM Fender Telecaster through it for about 8 months now. I play primarily blues in all styles with a little rock thrown in for flavor. I'm practicing with a some other players right now in hopes of getting the blues band up and running so I've carting this around to practice for a few months now. It's quiet when on, no buzz, even if the overdrive is on 10. The clean channel is very quiet, in fact, probably useless. It sounds limp and lifeless. Even with endless fiddling with the treble/mid/bass doesn't help. The overdrive is tinny and lifeless. It really has not guts at all. I always had to put a pedal in front to get any midrange out of it.

Reliability : 7
It's been dependable though. No problems in the months since I bought it. The tolex wrap is peeling in some spots but the case seems hardy.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No warranty. Bought on eBay for $50. Never had any problems so it never needed to be serviced.

Overall I'm getting rid of this thing ASAP. In fact I just picked up a used Fender Bronco and it's so much more a better amp and it's only 15 watts. It's much louder and ballsier (is that a word?) than this Washburn. If you're looking for a small practice amp that has a blues look to it don't buy this one. Get a Bronco.

Picked up this 30 watt Reverb combo on Ebay. Called Washburn South Side VGA-30R. Only difference in the VGA-30 is no reverb. Having said that, the reverb is pretty puny and not very deep, but better than nothing. Amp has 1 channel switchable between clean and overdrive and a master volume, and tone stack. Very nice warm sounds from a transistor combo. Suitable for rehearsal recording or small gigs. Nice retro look, very thin tweed covering, 10" speaker, gets pretty loud and usable when cranked to 10 (doesn't distort into mush).

Sound Quality : 5
I tried it with a Strat, Telecaster, and a couple of Rics. Sounds real nice - if you are looking for a small solid-state combo with a retro look and a nice even tone (not a lot of bass), get one of these amps. Not high powered but enough volume for small situations.

Reliability : 5
When amp was shipped, one of the wires on the reverb tunnel was broken, which I fixed, otherwise everything else worked, so I would say it took a beating and came out ticking.....

I emailed the Washburn website support and asked for a schematic, they sent me a PDF. You can't find a schematic on the web anywhere, so kudos to them.

Overall Rating : 7
Nice sounding small combo, light weight, suitable for recording/rehearsal and small club scene, but not loud or over the top distortion but quite a full sound. I liked it but I like the Brownsville Thug combo MUCH BETTER....... so I sold the Washburn and kept the Thug (see the review on Harmony Central).

Basic controls, no reverb, boost switch for overdrive, vintage styling, 10" speaker. 30 watts but sounds like about 10RMS. Headphone jack (you don't want to listen to this amp through there), solid-state but VERY NICE TONE CIRCUIT. Nice vintage-style cosmetics, made in Korea.

Sound Quality : 8
Best feature of this amp is a very warm clean sound with decent tone control range. Boost switch adds thickness, not solid-state fuzz, and you can turn this amp up to 10, back off the volume with the guitar, and you have a nice thick sound for practice or recording, not loud enough for playing with a group (unless miked into a PA). If you are looking for high-gain, this is NOT the amp for you, but if you want smooth clean sound and adding some thickness (crunch), use the overdrive button, this amp delivers. I play R&R, mostly for my own pleasure at this point (being an old geezer now who grew up in the 60s playing for a living), this is a no-frills good sounding transistor amp, kind of like the Vox Pacemaker but with a warmer tone circuit.

Reliability : 7
Unless you throw it down a flight of stairs, it should hold up fine.

Customer Support : 5
No idea, this is a cheap amp, if it blew up, probably isn't worth getting it fixed - just buy another one on Ebay.

Overall Rating : 8
I like this amp, it's non-reverb, so I sold it after I found another one that does have reverb built-in. Good amp for practice or recording (through a mike to speaker). No tubes to worry about (and I AM A TUBE AMP GUY), good tone and overdrive. If you want a good small amp, you can't go wrong with the Washburn VGA series. Substitutes would be the Orange Crush 10 (not the 15), which is my favorite mini amp. Forget the Vox Brian May, it sounds like a fuzztone, other good small amps are the Vox Cambridge 15 (has 1 tube), and the Pathfinder (no tube). Also the Epiphone Tube 30 (better).

Unsure of the year. This amp is AMAZING. A little champ through and through. No reverb on mine, but has bass/mid/treb, Overdrive, and footswitch and headphone jacks. For a small little NON-tube amp it has balls. BIGTIME. Loud, clear, and clean.

Sound Quality : 9
I play my Gibson Les Paul '78 custom and my Epi PRE-5 with it mostly. The Epi sounds crystal clear, but punchy. My LP sounds like it has a new set of nuts! I play a marshall jcm-900 live and gigging, but this little amp takes the cake for anywhere else. The clean is great, and can break up if you adjust the gain. The distotion channel is good, but I have heard better. I would say it is equal to a marshall valvestate type dist.

Reliability : 8
I have only owned it for a bit, but I can tell it can take a beating. This is an amp I will own for a long long time.

Renued my comfort with Washburn products.

Overall Rating : 9
This amp is great, period. I will replace it if I have to, but only with the same model. DO NOT PASS UP THE CHANCE TO BUY THIS AMP! It can't be very pricey no matter where you find it. Great for you who want to have a new toy to smile about.
