I bought this new in 1977 - my first electric guitar amp. I assume it was made that same year. It was a good amp to start out with and was OK at the time. It was replaced as my main amp in 1990 with a Marshall half stack: a JCM 800 2210 100 watt head and a 1960A speaker cab. Let's just say there's no comparison. You can read my other reviews in this forum. I'm "Dr. Sound Good". I play rock, blues, gospel, Contemporary Christian, Country Western, Bluegrass, folk. It's limited in it's versatility only because of the quality of its sound, which is not as musical as I need it to be. It's one channel so no channel switching, front panel: 2-way on/off toggle switch w/ pole reversing, high/low inputs, controls: volume, bass, middle, treble, bright, distortion, reverb; rear panel: reverb & distortion pedal jacks, recording output, secondary & primary fuses. I wish it had tremelo which I use on my other amps when fitting. I don't use this amp anymore. It was pretty much retired in 1990 when I got the Marshall half stack. It has more than enough power, but it's VERY solid state, as you'll see in the following sections, and to say it's "tinny" sounding is accurate.

Sound Quality : 3
This amp makes solid state, transitor sounds! Tinny, no warm bottom end, and not much variety. I've never driven the clean channel to distortion because it has built in footswitchable distortion. It's a very brutal, solid state, tinny distortion! I own and play a 1994 Fender Eric Clapton signature stratocaster, a 1976 standard strat, 1976 Les Paul Custom, a 1989 Gibson ES-335, mostly blues/rock stuff. Also play Takamine and Esteban acoustic guitars with pickup. For the 13 years as my main amp, from 1977 to 1981, I played a hollow body Guild electric guitar thru it which I traded in for another guitar. From 1982 to 1990 I mostly played my '76 Strat through it, but also my Takamine w/ a pickup. It became very noisy/hissy in all settings and in all environments which began to drive me crazy. So I got the great Marshall half stack, all tubes, and retired the Yamaha. Some day I might have a good guitar amp tech check it out to see if the hiss can be gotten rid of, and I'll use it again. I recall that prior to the hiss, it sounded OK. I will admit that at one of my Country Western gigs a very accomplished player cranked out some awesome sounds from it. But I was sideways and about 10 feet away from the amp so the hiss didn't get to me.

Reliability : 10
I can depend on this amp for a very hissy sound. I wouldn't use it unless the hiss could be removed, and I would only use it as a back up amp if it was the only option available. I have 8 guitar amps altogether, 6 of which are all tubes. It is however, a great amp to lend someone because I have no worries about it! It has never broken down.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never any need for warranty work. I think I will have it checked out, however. It would be fun to revive it if the hiss could be removed. Sometimes old funky stuff becomes popular again. But I don't see this amp in that category.

Overall Rating : 3
I've been playing guitar for 43 years now. I have piles of gear. A Crate PCMB 500 watt P.A. amp, a Carvin FET 401 monitor amp, Cerwin Vega 12" 2 way floor monitors, dbx 160 compressor, 2 Soundtech B2E 12" 2 way main speakers,Digitech 2101 studio tube pre-amp, Shure SM58 mics, Yamaha 4 track cassette deck, Marshall 8008 Stereo Valvestate Power Amp, a 1997 '65 Fender Twin Reverb Reissue tube amp, 1977 Fender Vibro-Champ tube amp, Mesa-Boogie V-twin tube pre-amp pedal and Boss foot pedals. I think it could be a viable amp if it didn't hiss. Because apparently you can't kill it. I'm pretty sure it still works, but haven't played thru it for several years. Compared to other products, that is, the stuff that I own and use, it's really bad! But then all my other stuff is world class/classic stuff. I chose this amp because it was a good starter amp with a lot of power. That's all I knew back then! I really would like to try and get this in useable shape. I wonder if it's possible?

Had this amp for about 12 years now, for $250au though havent switched it on for at least five years... I bought it second hand for a guitar rig and it looked well used if not utterly abused. I never used the distortion but that wasnt a problem due to outboard fx. The reverb worked when i got it but not for long, again not an issue. I never turned it above 1/4 volume so it was pretty loud, if a little shrill in the highs.

Sound Quality : 7
Used to turn the bass up and the treble/brightness down for a usable tone which worked well with most of the patches in my yamaha fx900. Stayed pretty clean to a high volume but never needed to push it. Built in distortion was weak and the reverb stopped working. I used 2 different samick strats, + another amp for stereo fx thru the fx900 which while not pro was adequate. Used to play a mixture of metal, funk, fingerpicking and electric folk with psychedelic edges. Had a bit of background noise but that couldv been the pickups and fx.

Reliability : 9
Besides the spring reverb isse was very reliable and am 99% sure it still works. Was taken to jams, rehearsals and gigs every week for 6 -7 years without one breakdown

Been playing guitar for 17 years, though less so since i discovered electronica in the late 90s. Also own 2 really nice samick electrics, a takamine classical guitar, b-1 mic, sm-58 mic, m-audio ozone, yamaha promix01, yamaha fx900+fc900, many boss pedals, behringer bcr2000, ulra di-pro, alesis 3630 comp, motu 828mkii, korg padcontrol, Truth b2031s + 2 decent laptops and a bunch of software these days.
I would get a fender twin reverb if this was stolen, or a nice old tube amp. I remember wishing it had a decent amp out on the back as it used to sound terrible thru a mixer, also some sends and returns would have been useful but i think its magic was in its simplicity.

As far as features go this amp is kinda "no-frills". Hi and Low inputs, standard eq fair, a bright control, one lousy distortion. It's only saving grace in the "extras" is the nice and warm sounding spring reverb. Oh yeah and the 50 watts doesnt hurt.

Sound Quality : 8
Im using a matching, by matching i mean an older yamaha, guitar. I've been playing around with it for only a couple days, but it sounds very clean, if a little bit tinny, but the tinny can be compensated by taking treble and adding bass. The distortion is painfully weak, but the beautiful reverb makes up for it.....very lush. Ive been playing everything from Cannibal Coarpse to Incubus threw itr and it sounds good, and thats using a Ibanez black noise sound tank for distortion duties.

Reliability : 7
I just got this amp an for all i know i could be the 300th owner. It looks like its had it's ass kicked. The tolex and corners are fine, as is the cloth, but its been pretty scuffed up abd the power switch is broiken off in the on position. But it still work great with no scratchy pots, and no anomalies.

Overall Rating : 7
Overall I think its a pretty cool amp to own. Ive owned marshalls, randalls, yamahas, washburns, Ive had alot of amps and such over the past 20 years. To be honest i kinda like this amp, it looks tuff, sounds good enough, it's fairly small, yet has enough power to gig. If I had the same offer made to me, i'de buy it again.

One channel. Distortion and reverb with footswitch imputs for both. The distortion is pretty weak, but I like to use it turned down a little for more of an output distortion sound. For some reason, though, it sounds terrible when I have my pedals attatched. It has real three-spring reverb that sounds great. I can set it to either subtle or over-the-top extreme.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a rosewood guitar with five pickups in a HB-SC-SC-SC-HB config, and it sounds great with all settings. I play rock-oriented psychadelic, with a lot of effects. This amp tons of warmth and depth to modulation effects. even at very high volumes, the clean tones are amazingly bright, clear, and ear piercing. It also adds about ten tons of balls to my Ibanez smash box.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have only had it for a few months, but so far nothing has gone wrong. I prefer solid-state amps for their reliability and lake of need for maintenance, and this amp is doing fine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I purchased it at Guitar Center, and they offer a 30 day warranty, but nothing has gone wrong.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for about eight years, and this is the most pro-grade piece of gear I own, other than my guitar. At this price, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. It sounds great, and I love the series EQ. I can shape to almost any sound I want or need. It cuts through clear and clean, even over my bassist's MASSIVE attack and sound. I only wish that it had speaker-out jack, but I can install that myself, and an effects loop, which I can have pofesionally installed.

I don't know what year the amp was made. It must have been in the late '70s though because I've had it now over 20 years.

I don't push it much. I use it mostly around the house for my own pleasure and practice. I play in a band for my church and I use it for both my acoustic guitar and my electric.

It is a solid state amplifier. I'm not sure how many watts of power it has. It has one 12" speaker.

It has two inputs, high and low, but has only one channel. It has Bass, Mid, Treble, Bright, Distortion, and Reverb controls. There is a footswitch in the back for Distortion and Reverb control. There is also a polarity switch and a phone jack for external speaker in the back. I've added an additional three pronged output jack in the back to connect to our mixing board.

I never have to turn the volume up more than 4. It has plenty of power. The distortion is not very good in my opinion. I don't use it much so it doesn't matter much. I wish it had a vibrato effect.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar with a piezo-electric bridge add-on pickup, a Gibson Les Paul Jr., and a Gretsch Country (Gentleman) Classic II through this amp.

The amp does not have much in the low end. It's sound is a little "tinny" for my acoutic so I tend to turn up the Bass and turn down the Treble and Brightness for it. My electric guitars sound fine with the "tinny" sound because I usually set them more toward the treble end anyway and can tone them down with the guitar controls.

The sound is always very clean and I never push it so much that I get distortion unless I have the distortion set for that.

Reliability : 10
I've had this amp for over 20 years and have never needed to get it repaired. I took it in the other day jusdt to have it checked out and nothing was wrong. An input jack had worked itself loose and the pots need cleaned, but that was it. Everything has worked flawlessly the whole time.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with the manufacturer. I bought it used so I couldn't rate their service.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for over 40 years, but I've only had two other amps. I had a small Gibson single channel, single speaker, no frills amp when I first got started. The I replaced it with a Fender Twin Reverb. That was the best amp I've ever had. It was really more than I needed, but I wish I had it back.

This amp is easy to get in and out of the car. Except for it's "tinny" sound and the lack of vibrato, I think it is a very good amp. It's especially good for someone playing through a mixer or for private use.

This was a one channel solid state amp with plenty of power--fifty watts. Only one volume, no pre and post gain, but a distortion knob.

Sound Quality : 2
I gigged with this amp may times playing my Akai AX60 keyboard through it. I also used it occasionally in practice playing my Steinberger bass through it. It sounded way too tinny and awful to play a guitar through it.

Reliability : 4
It was reliable until it finally died, then I gave it away.

I have been playing for more than 20 years. I would not get this amp again, unless like the first one it was free. Other amps I have owned include Fender, SWR, Peavey and Lab Series.

its got controls for volume, high, mid, low, a brightness knob, and footswitchable distortion and reverb. It handles anything i try to put through it, i have a boss multieffects and no matter what effects or how string they are, this amp handles it like nothing. Its a solid state so the distortion is lacking but i use me pedal for that anyway. I play mostly rock and metal and it all sounds good. Its got more than enough power, it starts to drown out the drums at only half.

Sound Quality : 9
when its clean you can turn it up all the way (if your ears can take it) and won't distort at all, even the highest highs are still clear. It also has a lot of bass to it if you want, you'll get an occasional rumbling feedback if you get to close but that happens with every amp. I use it as my main amp for practice and small gigs. Its very simple and very useful. But like i said before, the distortion is lacking even for a solidstate

Reliability : 10
never broken down. never even got warm, and i've played for 8 hours straight at practice with it.

I bought it used so i don't really know or care

I've been playing about a year now and i've had this amp for about 8 months, i've never had any trouble with it (except when my friend didn't want to give it back after he borrowed it). I only paid 30 bucks for it so i'd buy it again for that price in a heartbeat. i would probably pay 200 for it if i needed to. but its a little lacking for features, but i like em simple
