I bought this amp new around '87. 2 channels, clean and gain, with 2-button footswitch (A/B and Q on/off), effects loop, external speaker output, mechanical reverb, and a parametric EQ.

Sound Quality : 8
I've mostly used it with my late 80's Charvel Fusion with a hotrail and humbucker, and 10-46 gauge strings. This amp got me using heavier strings with its clear supportive low-end. The clean channel is very clean and basic, like a PA, leaving you to color your sound with your own settings and effects. The distortion channel sounds awful, use a pedal or something. Though when blended with other effects, I suppose it can be made tolerable. I just use it to make heavy distortion mushier.
While not a recommended practice, I've played my bass through it several times at garage jams, and the thing can more than keep up with the guitarists who keep cranking up their volume. Just turn down the trebles (of course you'll give up some punchiness, but you'll still have working speakers when you're done.) It's very powerful; 100W through 2x10's. With the volume up to 2, it can be heard throughout a dorm building, and very clearly by your suburban neighbors at 1.
The mechanical reverb makes a hell of a sound when you set the thing down with the volume up.

Reliability : 10
Have had it 20 years now, no problems at all. It's survived much loudness, including a bass.

Never had problems, so never had to contact them.

Been playing electric about 25 years, just at parties and jams (played drums when I did do the band thing), also have a GK 250ML which is great in its own ways. When looking for a fast, controlled, rockin sound I'll use the GK; but for a thick, jazz/blues, (I wouldn't say 'warm' like tubes) but full-ranged sound; or just for sheer power, or when I find myself playing bass in a small setting, the Yamaha does it. I don't know how better to describe it: compared to just about any guitar amp I've tried, it adds no personality to the tone; just clean, powerful, and reliable; and very heavy.

Very early "80's" model. This amp is very versatile for any style of music. This combo is complete with two switchable channels one clean and one with distortion & parametric EQ. Some people say that the distortion sucks but it is raw crunch. This is "old school" power with two ten inch speakers. If you check out the G100-212 review it's even double the sound of this one. I couldnt afford the two twelves at the time so I settled for the G100-210. I bought mine new and I also own the piggy back head of the same amp. Great sounding unit.

Sound Quality : 10
I use mostly guitars with humbuckers on them, they seem to suit the amp better. Single coils work fine too but it is not as punchy. I use Les Paul deluxe, Gibson SG, Gibson Rd Artist, and various other guitars that I'd rather not mention at this time. The Yamaha is excellent for jazz, responds very well with semi-hollow or hollow jazz guitars. Very warm and can get bright without being tinny, even with ten inch speakers. Not noisy, even good in the studio.

Reliability : 10
You can depend on this amp. I've owned this amp for over twenty years, only been in the shop twice for minor wear. Reverb went out once. The other was the amp started sounding muddy at one point. With soume cleaning of parts it sounded great again.

Never had to use them.

Been playing for 37 years and used a lot of equipment during that time. I own a Peavey Renown, Yamaha G100-II head, Polytone mini Brute, Eden Metro, and a very strange looking amp made by Aria that looks like a Mesa Boogie with two six inch speakers I believe. Many guitars and basses and effects. If something happened and it got stolen I would look for another one before settling for something else. These amps are in a class by them selves. I've never played any thing else like them.
