Solid State Amp made in late 70's-early '80's. Bought used for $75 in 1981. Used to play hardcore, have used recently for "unplugged" acoustic gigs and for R&B slide/lead guitar.

Only single channel, headphone jack, no loops. Second channel would be nice, but obviously more expensive (the G112-30II had it)

Currently use it for home practice and church gigs (slide/lead)

Sound Quality : 8
Using a Hamer Special w/2 humbuckers, Charvel 625C and Ovation elec-acoustics. Clean sound is very bright and good for acoustics. Reverb works well, plenty of volume for club gig (up to 150 people). Electrically, the rotary distortion control helps give a bit of grit to the sound prior to any FX (I use a Boss OD and Analog Delay). I NEVER use the brightness control - it'll shred ears! Unlike other reviews, I kind of like the manual distortion - it doesn't exactly sound like tube distortion but it adds a Yamaha type of warmth (an oxymoron, I know)that worked well with punk/hardcore as well as with blues. I even dial in a little if the acoustics sound too strident.

Reliability : 9
Only problem experienced with this amp was when an idiot sound tech plugged in a phantom power line and fried the input. Had the fuse changed, replaced the input, sounded fine.

Playing for 30 years, also own a Music Man HD210, Peavey Bandit, and Yamaha B50115 (sister to this amp for bass). Have played countless others over the years. For the price, it's an amp that suits me well, especially since it amplifies acoustics ably while still delivering for electric guitars. For under $100, it's a helluva bargain when compared to the Doyle Dykes Signature Soldano Amp.

I bought mine used back in 89 as a practice amp for the "bachelor pad". The guy I bought it from threw in a EH eq with the deal so it wasnt that bad of a deal.
Honestly..there are no features other than it powers a 12" speaker. The distortion and reverb both were pitiful, so I never used them. It just works.

Sound Quality : 5
I use Ibanez rg series guitars through art, alesis and peavy rack equipment, so effects arent an issue. For practicing it did a fine job.

Overall......its treated me well over the 12 years ive had it. It just recently smoked a output transistor, (that i know ill never be able to find). *shrug*

This amplifier was made in 1981. It was a single channel amplifier. Essentially a no-frills solid state deal. It had a line out for an additional speaker and that was about it. Its sound was extrememly clean, and the onboard "distortion" as it was called was terrible. At the time, it had enough power, but I recall that the sound was very thin if you added a distortion or overdrive effect. The reverb was Okay.

Sound Quality : 2
I played a les paul clone through the amp. I eventually switched out the stock pickups for a Dimarzio superdistorion in the bridge postion, and a dual sound humbucker in the neck postion. The change improved the sound slightly. The amp was extremely limited in the tones you could get from it since it had no master volume, and the only eq was bass, treble and middle. As mentioned above, the on board distortion was terrible. The amp didn't clip at high volumes however.

Reliability : 9
Extremely reliable because it was solid state and had no frills. Never broke down in the 5 years I owned it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to contact Yamaha. I imagine it would have been difficult because it was a japanese import.

Overall Rating : 2
Its a no frills starter amp at best. By todays standards you could get a lot more for your money. I have been playing for over 20 years. I currently have a Les Paul standard with Seymour Duncan pickups, and play through a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL602.

Normally called a Thirty 112, this good looking black face solid state amp has a 12 inch Yamaha speaker and puts out a loud 30 watts of very clean sound. 2-way power switch (I guess to eliminate any hum which I never heard), vol, bass, treble, bright distortion and reverb knobs, hi lo input, headphone and 2 input footswitch for reverb and distortion. The reverb is weaker than what is found on most amps and the distortion comes on at above bedroom volume but most players prefer using stomp boxes anyway. I use the amp in my basement when "home alone".

Sound Quality : 9
I use an El-Degas double humbucker and a Series A with 2 single coil hard body guitars. Both sound great through this amp. From very very bright to mellow. The distortion is ok above 5 on vol. Reverb is adequate but I love lots of it. I play mostly blues and 60 instrumentals. The sound is a bit dry and piercing.

Not had it long enough.

Bought it on-line. Works great. Good garage amp. I have about 15 years experience...but took a 25 year break....been back for about 2 months now. Amp is a good buy at 150.00 and less. I own 5 or 6 other smaller amps.
