I just thought this Yamaha G50 series with the 4- 10 inch speaker set up! I bought it yesterday, have played through it a few times with my replica of my fendor Strat Frankenstein elect guitar! I am intermediate experienced this is my first large amp and I'll tell you what this thing rocks, as far as I'm concerned being made in the early 80s it's made extremely well and I think better than some of the new amps! Mine has been modified to accept another amp in line, but it also came originally stock to power another power source or amp, let's put it this way my living room is probably 30 x 20 and I have to keep this thing below number one on the volume setting ha ha! I paid $150 for it and I'm seeing that everybody else has been paying $200-$250 so I got a good deal it's in excellent shape, you can also run a microphone through it which sounds excellent for vocals, this amp has enough power to supply a ball room no problem! It's a ground shaker, the distortion, reverb, intensity, bass, treble, midrange, all works perfectly sounds incredible, also has the pre volume set and Jack in the back to control volume bursts! Along with other jacks for reverb, distortion, etc. etc., I would rate this a number 10, sincerely a dinosaur amp! And its solid-state no fuses to worry about, MY OPINION FROM COLORADO!

Sound quality is incredible, lots of variety controls, distortion, reverb, intensity, brightness, speed, bass, treble, midrange! I bought This amp yesterday, I'm playing a replica of a fender Stratocaster Frankenstein, three single coil pickups! And it sounds incredible, the distortion can be set to a brutal setting, I'm into playing Eddie Van Halen style, and with the amp at higher settings volume wise it will do the tapping harmonics no problem, my opinion this amp can be used for any sound figuration wanted by the player? It's got so much power running through it that when it's turned off it takes at least five seconds to power down, MY OPINION COLORADO WAY.

Late '70s Solid State Amp - 50W into 4 10" speakers. Lots of EQ control - Bass, Mid, Treble and Bright. Reverb (Accutronics spring) and Tremolo (nice tremolo!). Pre Set Volume control that can be footswitch controlled for boost. Line Out for recording. Solid construction. Distortion control.

Clean headroom, clean headroom, clean headroom - that's what these late '70s/early '80s G-series Yamaha amps are all about. If you want overdrive or distortion you need to use a pedal and these amps will play loud and clean whatever you feed them.
The tone knobs are useful - the Reverb is very nice, but not able to do the Fender deep surf thing - it just adds the sound of a nice size room - smooth and realistic sounding. The Tremolo is very smooth and sweet - very musical - with a wide range. The amp sounds good quiet and loud and all points in between. Very good dynamic clean tone - add pedals for seasoning. Super for jazz, Ventures, clean country or steel guitar as is.

If you are tired of dealing with tubes and need loud clean tone - one of these G-series Yamahas (G50 and G100s are available used in lots of speaker configurations - 1-12"/2-12"/2-10"/4-10"/4-12" !!Huge!!) would be a good buy.

Just like the other reviewers said, hi-lo input, reverb, distortion, tremolo, and a preset volume knob for footswitching?

Well, I just bought mine and it is behaving strangely. At first I thought it was my effects pedal. Apparently there is some bad wiring in the effects portion. At first the reverb knob was down and it still had reverb...later, it started phasing like the tremolo was on as well. Good thing I have a 24hr. return policy on it. It actually is a nice amp, but it must have had some moisture or other unknown mishap.

Sucks, Yamaha doesn't really acknowledge making anything older on their websites. Kinda pissed me off..I sent a request for schematic but only time will tell

Wish it was a Fender Super with the 4x10s...played through one a while back and it was beautifull. But for alot more money.....and it was modified.

The amp was made somewhere in the mid-80's.
The G50-410 is versatile enough for my styles of music which include blues,R&B reggae and country. It has two channels, one high and the other low. It also has footswitchable preset power volume, tremolo, distortion and reverb. It is a combo unit with four ten inch speakers. It also has an ac power connection for plugging other powered sources into the amp. I use the amp in several different venues from small to medium clubs to big ball rooms. Sounds great miked.
This amp has enough power for most situations, but I would love to have the same sound pushed by a few more watts.

I have been playing a strat and an Ibanez Talman 630 thru' the amp and sounds great with single coil pickups. This amp is extremly quiet when it is idling at the ready. I have only used the volume settings at around four or five. the amp reminds me of the sound that a Fender twin amp would produce, but at a lot cheaper price. I put the distortion on no high then 7 and that gives the clean channel a nice metalic sting to it almost like using a compressor. Full distortion may not be that attractive. No heavy metal.

I haven't had it long enough to have any problems as I purchased it second hand. I would use it on a gig without a backup.

I have been playing for over 20 years. I have gone thru' various amps brands down thru' the years and I fell in love with sound of this at first sound. If this amp were stolen or lost and I came across another at a reasonable price I would not hesitate to purchase it.
I really love the clean sound that it creates and even more when a little distortion is dialed in. The reverb on this unit is great.
the only thing that I would change is the power output. would love to have this same amp in a 100watt package.

The amp is about 2 1/3 feet tall and 2 1/2 feet wide. Some of the features include build in distortion, tremolo, and reverb. It has two input jacks, rec. out jack, and a bunch of jacks in the back for foot switches. Knobs for controlling the bass, middle, treble, and bright. This thing can pump 250 Watts. I haven't tried it yet. No channels switching.

My Strat (not a squire) sounds great through this amp. The way I see it, if you want to get a good distortion sound from it, it's best to turn the dist. knob to where you want it and put the amp volume down and turn up the guitar volume. That way it has a real fuzzy sound to it. The reverb on the amp is awesome. And if you set the speed and intensity knobs on the tremolo right, you can easily get the sound from "Money"

This amp is very reliable. Never had it break except for the volume knob, but that's how I got it. It's doing pretty good for an amp that's been sittin in storage for about 15 years

This is a great amp. It more than meets my needs. When I play I have the volume to about 4 1/2 or 5 and that's to where you can feel the floor vibrating. This thing can blow away any other amp I've played with. It's got so much power running through it that after you hit the switch to off, it keeps going for about 5 seconds more till it fades off. I would buy it again; if I could find one. Well really, I wouldn't buy one again, being that I didn't buy the first one. I was lucky enough for my dad's friend to have an amp laying around in his garage.
