First of all, Don't try to compare it with Mesa/boogies whatever...
It comes in a "let's start playing" kind of guitar kit, it's nothing but an amp for newbies.
Comes with 1 volume, 1 treble, 1 bass, Input jack in, headphones jack out, and clean/drive ch select. Basically enough for a _beginner_
It is powerful enough to play inside your bedroom and surely weak to play outdoors.

I play it with a Yamaha eg-112 that came with it and a Washburn Wi-16
as I said, it's enough to practice at home
the sound isn't great, but as said, it's _enought_ to practice
The clean channel is okay, nothing too special about it though
The drive channel is kinda... I don't like it, too much feedback, too noisy... you end up not understanding what the hell you're playing
Never used it on the max volume, and if you are planning to use only inside your bedroom (as I do) probably you won't need to put it on the max.

It's not enought to use on a gig, not even close to be enought... keep it on your bedroom.
I own it for about 5 years and it never broke down or showed any kind of misfunction, and I feel it will still last many years.
Really nice for a cheapy amp.

Well, If your are planning to start playing guitar, this is a nice amp to start with
BUT be aware that in the future you WILL feel like changing to a (far) better amp.
A suitable amp for beginners, nothing special about.

This amp features 4 channels. It was made in 1952 so it is a vintage model. It has 3 12'' speakers pumping out 10 watts of raw tone. I use it for gigging at arena venues/outdoors 600+ people and it is always up for the job and I never have to take it past 3-4 volume. I have a mesa boogie lonestar and it doesnt even match up to this monster. In all regards this is one of the best amps I have ever used and I was lucky to grab one for just under $3000 usd.

I have a fender custom shop stratocaster going through some custom Seymour Duncans. I usually run it through the single coil. I play everything from death metal to black metal and this has a great clean channel for both with awesome undertones and. It is VERY noisy but on 0.4 it is ok for a rehersal but I find that taking it over 4 is too loud even for a large gig (outdoor). It is the most versatile amp I have ever owned and I never use my EVH 5150 III amnymore now I own this.

I have been playing for 40+ years and currently I own 4 marshall cabs with a mesa boogie lonestar combo an EVH 5150III head. For $2999 it is some of the best value I have ever seen. I would recommend it to anyone who knows what real guitar sound is. This is my go to amp at all times. If it was stolen I would not hesitate to buy it again instantly. 10/10 in all categories a masterpiece.

No idea when amp was made, but was bought new in July 2007. I like to play Classic Rock and Blues. The amp on its own is pretty poor for these styles, it can do these styles (just about) but is pretty poor at doing them. It has clean and overdrive channels and treble, middle and bass and a headphone jack. I use this just for practicing so has enough power for me.

I'm using the guitar that came in the pack with the amp (Yamaha Pacifica 012). Clean channel is pretty decent, the overdrive on the other hand isn't as good. I'm able to play Classic Rock on the Overdrive channel and some clean Blues on the clean channel, but is pretty poor quality. The clean channels become distorded at louder volumes. The amp experiences feedback when the overdrive is on.

This is my first and only amp and came with my guitar, when I started playing. Its a decent amp for a beginner. If it was stolen I would buy another amp. Theres nothing really that makes it standout but at the same time nothing really to hate about it. I wouldn't choose to buy it again if I had the choice. I've been playing an effects box through it recently and sounds pretty good through that.An average amp overall.

No idea what year it was made, because I bought it from a second hand shop for 15 quid. I play speed/ thrash metal (Old school Metallica, Megadeth etc) and I'd say it has no where near as many features as I'd like it to have. It has and Overdrive channel and a clean channel and a headphone jack. I wish it had more options to chage the sound, because it only has a volume, bass and treble control. I use this amp in my bedroom and it has definately got enough power, you can hear it outside the house!

I'm using it with an immensely terrible Encore guitar. As I said before, my style is speed metal, so I need a pretty heavy, but not insanely heavy distortion. I'd say the only style it suits is probably very, very heavy metal. It is very noisy on overdrive and it constantly gives out feedback. It can't make many sounds at all. It's at extremes. The clean sounds way too bassy and boring and when you palm mute or play a power chord, it hurts your ears. The clean channel never really distorts, but sounds crap anyway, so it wouldn't matter. The overdrive is WAY too brutal. Seriously, you can even hear a chord change when playing at speed, which sucks because that's my style.

I've been playing for 4 or 5 months and I also own a tiny 5 watt amp that came with my guitar (which is actually better than this amp). If it was stolen, I'd buy a Line 6 or a Marshall, with digital effects, but I'm buying a new one soon anyway. I don'tt love anything, but I kinda like the distortion for slower metal music, like Metallica's black album stuff, but I absolutely detest the clean sound! I didn't compare it, but I've played a marshall MG-10, which has the same wattage, but costs 65 quid, and it was SO much better! That amp has a half decent clean mode and much better distortion. The things I wish it had are digital effects, but more importantly, a good sound. Overall then, a cheap amp, but that's all it is. Cheap. This is a terrible amp, even for ??15. I would suggest saving up just a bit longer and getting a Line 6 Spider III 15 or a marshall MG15DFX.

Anyone complaining about ANYTHING that they KNOW can't be put on an amp this size is being PRETTY Stupid! Is THIS AMP a Mesa Boogie Rectifier? NO, it's a SMALL, SMALL, SMALL PRACTICE AMP about the size of a a big toaster yet it has MORE than an amp (or toaster) this should normally HAS! - Input, Volume & Bass & Treble knobs, a headphone jack (!!) and a Clean or Drive button! And, plus, it's so DAWGGONE *CUTE*!

I got this at a Music-Go-Round for a whopping $35! *I* think if you buy ANY Yamaha musical instrument-oriented device bigger than a guitar pick or a pack of strings, it oughta costya at least $50, even if it's BROKEN (just kidding), so *THIS* was like finding a Treasure Chest to me!...
A very, very, very, very SMALL Treasure Chest, but a TREASURE CHEST JUST THE SAME!
I was needing a practice amp that I can have at work or at home while using my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for band practice/gigs, and this li'l beauty fits in my wallet (slight exaggeration) and can go with me anywhere! It makes tones semi-similar to what I play with the Real Equipment, so what the hell? It's convenience and quality are SUPERB for what I want it for!...
Oh, and It's so Dawggone *CUTE*!!!

Not sure what year the amp was made. This was the first guitar amp that I bought, it came with a Status Silhouette Series (Strat copy) guitar. At the time I was playing Pink Floyd muisc and Led Zeppelin. 2 channels clean and overdrive and a headphone jack. This was my first amp and electric guitar so I only used it in the bedroom so yes pleanty powerful enough for a small bedroom.

The guitar was a Status Silhouette Series (Strat style) guitar. Playing Pink Floyd and Zeppelin to start with and then moved on to playing Black Sabbath. It dosn't really have much variety in the sounds but I wasn't using any effects at the time, only the drive built into the amp which is pretty good distortion though. The clean channel is slightly distorted when turned up to about 7 or higher but I think just about any amp dose that.

I have been playing for 6 years. Own Gibson and Epiphone SGs and have experimented with other amps such as Marshall and Jade but the best so far is my Laney GH50L and 4x12 cabinet. Not saying this a bad amp, ideal for a beginner which is what I was when I bought it. I got the best deal with this amp I only paid $140 Australian for the guitar and amp which were both in good condition. Good for beginners.

For what it's worth, this amp functions pretty well, it produces sounds, so you can hear what you're playing, but that's pretty much it. It's got clean and distortion selectable by a push-button switch, but you probably don't want to use the distortion since it sounds awful. Got it as part of a Yamaha electric guitar starter set, so I'm just guessing on the price.
Opened it up one time to have a look at the wiring, and well, there's not a whole lot there. It uses a single op-amp for signal amplification, and the distortion switch increases the amplification so that it hard-clips. Simple highpass/lowpass filters with a potentiometer control the "bass" and "treble". Very simple electronics, but hey, it gets the job done.
Sound Quality
:

As a practice amp, you really can't expect much of it. The clean sound is okay, but it really lacks bass and treble (the knobs really don't do much of anything). The distortion is simply awful. It sounds really tinny, and just breaks up if you turn the volume past 3-4.
Listening to it through the headphones makes it sound even worse, so it's not a great headphone practice amp either.

It's built pretty solid, and after moving it around a lot, it can stand quite a bit. The electronics inside are pretty simple, and as such, there's not much to maintain.
It broke down recently because the fuse blew after I turned the volume past 8 (I don't know if this is a defect or if it's just bad design), after getting a new fuse it worked fine.

I can definately see myself hanging onto this amp for the time being.

Just using it with the guitar that it came with. Cheap yamaha, strat copy. (the guitar, Yamaha EG-112C, is actually not bad, for a cheap electric) This amp is good for practice. It amplifies your guitar, and that's all. The clean sounds are acceptable for a practice amp. The distortion stinks, and I don't like it. The tone controls (bass and treble) don't seem to have much effect on the sound. Sounds pretty generic, but it does it's job.... (makes it so you can hear what you're playing)
I believe that this unit is also sold as a keyboard amp.
I use the clean sound, with a digitech effects processor, which really helps alot.

This came with a guitar that I bought new on ebay. I paid $109 for the whole works.... I'd guess that this amp is worth about $10-$15. If I lost it, I'd buy another but I wouldn't pay much for it. It doesn't sound great, but it does what it's designed for. It's a cheap practice amp.
(use effects with it, and it's ok)

Not many features: input jack for headphones, bass, treble, volume, and a clean/drive button. I thought it was 10w, but after looking through the manuel, it said 7w. It's meant to be a practice amp, so it's not that bad to just practice in the bedroom, but there's not much you can do with it.

The sounds are very basic-you press the drive button, and there's only one tone possible for it. If you turn up the bass or volume above 5,the sound sounds stressed. The clean channel is better though.

It's reliable in the sense that it's like a tank-throw it out the balcony and it'll come back to you, relatively unharmed. As it's a practice amp, it's not meant for gigs.

Sounds absolutely ridiculous. Plenty of middle, no bass and no treble on that "clean" channel. Crappy, muddy, dark "distortion", that no normal ear would like to listen to.

I've been playing violin for 8 years in my childhood, then I followed with classical guitar for several years. After becoming student at a university, I suspended my "guitarist" carreer. Fifteen years have passed, and last year I finally decided to restart, just for my personal fun, this time with electric guitar. Considering myself a beginner, and willing to spend not too much money on my first electric guitar, I bought a Yamaha ERG-121 GP beginners pack. The guitar itself was a really great value for the money, but the GA-10 amp that came in the pack is simply a piece of shit. They've put it in that pack just to have something that can produce sounds. Okay, it actually produces sounds, but that's all. It's worth nothing, it's useless, even for beginners.
Since then I've bought a beautiful Yamaha RGX-TT guitar (my oh my, what a piece of artwork, I'm inlove with it:). Just for curiousity, I've tried it out with GA-10, and you bet... that shitty little amp sounded, okay, just a little bit better, but still horrible, even with those lovely Duncan Vintage Rail and Jeff Beck pickups :(
If you consider buying a Yamaha guitar value pack, just do it, because the guitar's definitely worth that money, but don't leave the store without buying another 15W (or stronger) practice amp, say a Line6 Spider II, Roland Cube or whatever. Just throw out the GA-10, and forget it.

This started solid state amp came with a guitar (ERG-121) in a pack. It is no Mesa. It has channel switch, volume, bass and treble controls, and a headphone socket.
It is meant to be 10w, though on the speaker it says 8w. I really would have thought that a gain control would have made this amp better than it is worth.

Well, it has an ok clean channel that can be used with a distortion pedal or amp simulator. Put on full, it gives a cruch sound. If fact, this can also be used with a microphone like a portable PA (this sound isnt too bad).
The drive channel is fizzy crunch. Its just a practice amp, so Ill leave it alone. If it was adjustable, then I would have given it a better mark, but it isnt. Cheap crap.
The bass and treble could have just been 'tone', and left room for a gain control. Oh well.

The guitar in the pack was very good quality for the price (like a lot of Yamaha gear). The amp was just a practice tool, and thats it. This amp is very portable though (small size), so that is a plus.
If it had a gain control, I would have rated it higher, but the drive sound is fizzy anyway, clean is better. I suppose one could get a distortion pedal or amp sim and use this with the clean channel, then that would be a half decent practice setup for limited budget or space. Or just get a new amp.
However, dont buy this new or seperately, there are better amps out there. Obviously I have better amp/s now.

You would think that it would at least be made to sound good with the guitar it was made for, the Yamaha Strat nock-offs, but, it doesn't. there much noise to be heard when playing it clean, and you only get one type of distortion, dark and muddy and annoying. It does have a bit of volume to it, however, just enough to annoy the upstairs neighbors, which is always good. with the single coils, it sounds horrible on distortion, but it has a nicer almost a wah-ish sound with the humbucker.
