Pretty basic, even for a 10 watter: 1 channel, no dist on/off switch, 3 band eq, distortion and volume knobs, head-phone output, no cd/line in output.

It`s a pretty versatile solid-state practice amp; i only wish it had a distortion switch.

Sound Quality : 8
Nice clean channel, with very little distortion at high volumes.

The distortion sounds good if you know how to equalize it. One of the warmer and softer sounds i've seen in this kind of practice amps, well suited for rock and blues. Getting a heavier metal sound is not so easy, though. Really quiet, even with dist on 8 or more.

It's pretty loud for a 10 watter

Reliability : 8
Never broken down, although i never dropped it or hit it. Seems pretty sturdy and well built. The knobs don't seem like they're gonna come off. Woudn't gig with it because it's far too small.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 8
Really nice little amp. Loud enough for a practice amp and one of the best souding amps of this price.

If it were stolen or lost i would probably get another one; sounds better than most of the other 10 or 15 watt amps and, like all yamaha products, it's really dependable and built to last.

Pretty basic 10 watt, 1 channel amp with tremble, mid, and bass controls. Also has distortion and a headphone jack. I got this years ago in a starter pack and I still fool around with it sometimes. It's not a bad amp, but it IS a 10W amp.

Sound Quality : 7
I play a Les Paul with a Duncan SH-4 Jeff Beck pickup in the bridge and a Duncan SH-2 Jazz Model in the neck. I also use a Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion pedal and a DOD GS30 multi-effects pedal. To me, the amp sounds a little bassy but I like my guitar to sound "bright." I usually turn the bass down a little. The built in distortion gets the job done but it's pretty generic so I usually just use pedals. When the volume is high, there is a fair amount of distortion and when the input is high, you can get a fair amount of overdrive. Some people might see that as a negative but personally I think it's kind of neat - the amp has character. Once again, it's just a 10W amp.

Reliability : 9
Never had any problems so far but considering it came bundled with a guitar for $100, I wouldn't be too upset if it did break.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

I've had it for about 7 years now. It's functional and good for what it is.

Don't know what year it was made in, but I got it a few years ago new.
It's pretty basic, just dist / volume / 3 band EQ; input jack and headphone out.
It has enough power for what it is, which is a practice amp, and no more. You could maybe jam with it, but you defintly couldn't gig with it.

Sound Quality : 7
Let me say, the sounds you get out of your amp depend entirely on your guitar - if you guitar sucks, you won't get good sound from the amp - if it's a little practice amp or a marshall stack.
I play a Les Paul (not a Gibson), but a very nice one, and this thing sounds great. Lots of punch on the clean channel. EQ works very well. the distortion lacks a little, it's just simple overdrive. Crank it to 10 and it'll pass for practice sounds.

Reliability : 9
It's pretty reliable. Never cut out or fizzed or broken in anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I got it as a gift, I don't even know where it came from.

Overall Rating : 5
I've been playing bass for about 4 or 5 years (I got this when I asked for an amp and my mom didn't know there was a differnce between bass amps and guitar amps. whoops!). i didn't use it much, as I eventually got a real bass amp. But then I got an electric guitar, and now I play 4 hours a day for the past couple years. My guitar (as above) is a Les Paul. I own a few pedals, but I actually just got them literally a few minutes ago and I havn't had a chance to try them yet... but I'm sure they'll sound find.
That said, if I didn't have this amp, I'd defintly get another one, something bigger and with more features (like an FX loop). But amps are so damned expensive!

1x8 inch speaker, 3 band eq, no reverb, no FX input, headphone jack, 1 channel. Your basic practice amp. Solidstate obviously. What else would you expect?

Sound Quality : 3
I'm using a Jackson KV4 (SD loaded) and a Epi Strat clone on it. No matter on what setting, it just sucks. The clean channel is absolutely flat and lifeless, and the distortion is horrible.

I'm running a Boss GE7 and a Boss MT2 which have helped a lot, the tone is much better. For bring a practice amp like this it has a decent bottom end (far from enough though).

On the distorted setting, the wattage of the amp increases A LOT, but the tone just blows it. On the clean the power won't get u above ANY drummer. Keep it on the bedroom where it belongs (if not the trash can), for rehearsals or gigs get a real amp.

I can't think of someone who could like the distortion on this thing, it just isn't suitable for anything.

Just crap.

Reliability : 10
Reliable, and a lot. 4 years of use and it hasn't broken down even once. I would use it on a gig if it wasn't so crappy, because it is VERY reliable. Thumbs up on this one.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with Yamaha, I don't think that will ever happen though.

Overall Rating : 3
If I could go back to 1998 I'd buy another thing. A really bad amp even for starters. I won't go any further on this detail. Best thing about it are that it is very reliable and light. Besides that, an amp that should have never been done.

have been playing 2 years and the amp has been with me since, exepect my very first amp was danocrapo mini amp which I think sucks and makes this amp look like the best in the world. If it were stolen or lost would not buy again because I need a bigger amp which I already halve a rouge half stack.

Little solid state practice amp. 2 channels clean / overdrive, headphone jack. No FX loop.

Sound Quality : 3
I used some guitars on it, a MIJ telecaster, a customized epiphone sheraton, a jagmaster, an Epiphone Del Rey.
This is just a piece of crap. What sound? Uuurgh....
Don't use the distorted channel, cheap crap sound. Clean sound is so-so. Good enough to test a home-made guitar effect to check if sound comes out. Not suited for any musical experience.

Once amplifier mosfet broke down (i don't know the serial number anymore). Soldered another one in. Now it works again. Case is solidly constructed.

Been playing some years now, was my first little practice amp. Still have it to test some circuits, and I don't want to sell it because I don't want to rip someone off. If it was stolen, I would be glad if the thief would pick this one up instead of something other.

1 Input jack, distortion, volume, bass, treble, middle, headphone jack.
I personally find the headphone jack to be a must feature that way I'm not limited to when I want to practice. Just 1 channel. I've seen other practice amps for the same price after I got this one with 2 channels.

Sound Quality : 4
I play a MiM Fender Tele and a Simon&Patrick SpPro Mahogony with a Fishman under the saddle pickup. Not a good amp for acoustic imho. I like country and classic rock. I wouldn't say it is a noisy amp I don't use the distortion over 4. It is as basic as they come as far as sound goes. Although if someone is on a budget it will do for a first amp.

Reliability : 10
Being only 10w I would have to say it is made for playing in the house or basement. It is very well built both structurally and appearance wise. I've owned it for about 7 months and I've had any troubles with it. A friend has owned the same amp for a few years he loves his. I don't crank this amp let's face it how long would you expect a 10w amp to last if you abuse it. I would say this little amp would last 20yrs or more if it wasn't abused and you wanted just a basic sound.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with this company. I got this amp thru a club points card(Zellars in Canada) I think it has a 1yr warranty.

Overall Rating : 6
I have been playing for a year. I would recommend buying it if you are on a budget for your first amp. I am currently looking to upgrade it and I figure I will have to pay at least $400 to $500 to get the next level of sound quality. If it had another channel to try I would probably be satisfied enough to hang on to it for another while.

This is a VERY basic amp, with distortion, volume, treble, mid, and bass controls with a headphone output. I think this couldn't be more than 10 watts, with an 8" speaker. Nothing more to say.

Sound Quality : 9
You know, everybody here is giving this bad reviews. The thing about this amp is that it's only real purpose is to be a "cheap first amp". You can't expect it to be a great amplifier for the money (BTW, whoever paid 150 for this got ripped off, the only amp in this category that costs that much is the crate gfx15...i paid 30 bucks for mine used, and it was almost like-new!). However, I have owned this thing for years, and have since stepped up to a Line6 Spider 210 and now a Mesa/Boogie Nomad 100 half stack!!! Well, when I first got this about two years ago, i was just starting (and believe me, i have progressed way more than enough in 2 years to deserve that stack...guitar is my life!), and I was playing through a crappy Yamaha acoustic retrofitted with a Dean Markley acoustic soundhole pickup. Well, it was my first taste of distortion, and of course, i thought it was awesome...well, in a little time I gained a tiny bit more knowledge in the guitar world and realized that it pretty much sucked. However, I've recently rediscovered this amp, as it has been sitting collecting dust for around one and a half years...and i must say I am quite surprised! This amp will play any pedal you put into it perfectly clean, as the amp's processor barely alters your guitar's sound, which is perfect for putting my metal zone and boss eq into. This amp is pretty loud, and the distortion has now become more of a fuzz box to me. Believe me, there is a period where you're gonna hate this amp...but you will begin to like it again if you just realize that although crappy amps make crappy sound, good amps cannot replicate those sounds.

Reliability : 8
When I bought mine, it had one flaw. There was some loose piece floting around in the preamp housing, and i think it's a piece of the electronics. However, my amp has worked flawlessly for two years and in that case it proves that this amp is pretty durable.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
Here's what I basically have to say about this amp...if you're a beginner and have around a hundred bucks, don't get this amp. Go for a fender frontman or a crate gfx15 or something. If you're just starting to get good, DO NOT GET THIS AMP!!! You're gonna think it sucks, just like I did. If you have been playing for a while, try it out...hell, they're dirt cheap used...you can get some really new sounds out of it and it's good for quite practice because you can simulate the sound of your good amps by running good pedals through it. It doesn't alter the sound of your pedals at all. In fact, today we got hit by a big storm, and i didn't want to risk playing through my stack and having one lightning bolt cause a power surge that would screw me out of a 2500 dollar amp, so i plugged into this and jammed some metallica and pantera with my CD's, and it did fine. So give it a try, you might just like it!

Well, the basic stuff like a headphone output (can _anyone_ get a clean sound from it?) and bass/mid/treble and a distortion effect that sounds quite bad.

Sound Quality : 3
Well.. I've found it impossible to get a clean sound out of the headphone input, as well as with the amp with a bit higher volumes, especially wah effects at a bit higher vols tend to get the sound distorted.. The distortion effect is quite horrible but the good thing is that you can get pretty high volumes with this amp (but not high quality anyway!) Anyways this was the first amp that I bought so I wasn't expecting high quality from the beginning.. and it didn't even cost very much.

Reliability : 3
Well, I bought that amp new and it wasn't a long time after that (maybe 3-6 months) when the amp broke (of course the warranty had ended) so my friend had to fix it.. he told me that apparently that model has the tendency to heat up from certain parts so I wouldn't know about the reliability .. since it was fixed and some cooling methods were adapted, it has been working fairly well (good enough for that amp anyway)

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 3
Well.. I wouldn't suggest to buy this amp, except if it would be me selling it.. :-)

Very basic POS... input, dist, vol, treb, mid, bass, phones, power switch and nothing else. it came in a guitar package with a yamaha start eg112 which is also not that great. its an 8" w/ 10 watts solid state. of course the features could be worse (some of those retro fenders only have volume and tone)

Sound Quality : 3
i never put the amp's distortion on because it sounds dry and dead. i usually play it with some cheesy comp speakers (for treb boost) or i play it with a microsoft digital 80 comp speakers (which sounds a hell of a lot better than this yamaha). i usually let a boss comp/sustain, dod preamp/overdrive 250 and an old dod sustain pedal do the distortion with vol at 5. it sounds ok with some comp speakers at bedroom vol. unfortunately i have to use this at band meets since its my only amp, at band vol it farts a lot. i like to play all sorts of styles, and usually the amp does a half assed job of producing good tone. i have never had the pleasure to play a marshall stack (let alone a half stack) but i still know that this thing sucks. i guess it's not particullarly noisy unless i put lots of gain through my efxs. i must say that it can stay fairly clean even at mild band volumes. however, i can get decent dist w/ my sustain

Reliability : 10
it's quite dependable but my experience in this department is limited to trip from home to my friend's every few weeks, the rest of the time it sits in my room and doubles as a footrest. i would never use it on a gig because it sounds awful but reliability wise i wouldn't worry.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i've never had to deal w/ yamaha and i hope i never have to

Overall Rating : 3
i've been playing for about a year and i have a strat style yamaha and a yamaha d'nought (and i dont like yamaha, it's just that their stuff always goes on sale and i'm constantly short on cash). if it was stolen i'd be somewhat happy b/c it'd be an excuse to buy a vox cambridge or something. i hate everything about it and like nothing. i'm sure if you wait for a clearance at guitar center you can get something better for like 50 bucks or something. most other cheap amps probably wouldn't do any better than this one but your best bet is trying it out yourself...

the sound is not BAD BAD but the only way i realy can handle it is when i have ever thing full other then volume.
with no distortion it realy suck's if your looking for a good cleen sound go for tube's other then that i would say its got more power then you would think it say's "||7v~60hz 50watts " wich im not realy sure what that means but 4 what i was useing it for i never need to go past 6 and that was at a prastis with drum's and all but in my room just playing around and trying to keep my mom sort of happy around 2-3 was about right some time's a bit lower im mosty a lead guitar player i play some rythum and my syle is some were in the rock hard rock blue's sort of way i like most all music so it sort of belnds

well i got it from a guy who like most have keeped it in a gold box cuz its like new and i have not realy beet it up much but as far as i can see it will hold up good

good for someone who is starting and has like no $ and bad hearing. lol
you could get it for a back up or just around the house or at a frend's house or some 1 who does not play much guitar but wants an elc guitar and amp just to mess around with but its not something you keep and play for years but as far as i can see it will last for years if you mess around with the setttings you can get a some what good sound and if you tryed some pedles on it may help as well but i would say get a cheeper fender or crate befor this if you have a chance

Yamaha HY-10G3 is a pretty std practise amp, 10 watts, solid-state, no reverb, a headphones jack. There's no fx loops or other fancy stuff, no footswiching. It's a one channel amp.

Sound Quality : 5
The clean channel is pretty characterless, and the od channel isn't too great, very fizzy, maybe great for punk, but for me, a tube emulation would be nice.

Reliability : 9
Very reliable, it has taken some major hits (eg dropping from 5 feet) with out any problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had problems, the warranty is 1 year here in Finland

Overall Rating : 5
I wouldn't really recommend this amp, even for starters, 'cos there's no reverb or anything else necessary. Buy a Squier practise amp instead.
