It's a 4x12, what else do we need? Casters? Yup... Metal Handles? Yup!... All pine ply construction? You betcha... Innards filled with glass pack? Yes..., Celestion speakers? Dunno, unless Celestion branded these with the Yamaha brand. Yamaha states that they use Celestion Vintage 30's these fon't look anything like Vintage 30's, but I could be wrong. My only gripe is they are front loaded, I know they are SUPPOSED to be more solid but I prefer rear mounting, removable backs are easier to work with should you need to.

Sound Quality : 8
This cab sounds great! I'd believe that they had Vintage 30's after hearing it, but they don't look like Celestions at all.

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't care about reliability. It's built well and should hold up if the speakers do.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know... I do not think Yamaha makes this stuff anymore.

Overall Rating : 9
I'd like more of these. They are well made, sound as good as anything I ever had, and cannot complain about the price.

Very solidly built 4x12 cabinet. Metal corner protectors on all corners. White piping around the speaker cloth.
Stereo input (2 x 8 ohms) or Mono (16 ohms) input jacks
The toggle switch for the inputs is very solid and it has a solid feel when switching between settings
Loaded with Celestion G12T-75 speakers
The cabinet is open on the inside. (Some cabinets have dividers inside them)
Cabinet is built as solid as a Peavey cabinet from the 70's. And I bet if I put a Marshall logo on the front nobody would know the difference.

Sound Quality : 10
It has that wonderfull "british" tone. The sound Celestions are known for.

Reliability : 10
Built like a brick $%^& house. VERY SOLID AND VERY RUGGED.

I saw this cabinet in a pawn shop and about crapped mt pants when I saw how cheap it was. I figure they had it priced so cheaply because it's a Yamaha cabinet. Not a popular brand when it comes to speaker cabinets. I was shocked to learn it had Celestions in it. I couldn't pass up the deal for that price. I have done some reading and it appears that most of these 4x12's come with Celestions. So if you see one and it's cheap, buy it. It's a hell of a lot cheaper that a Marshall and it will sound just the same.

Bought it used and in pristine condition. Not sure of the year of manufacture, but I'm guessing mid-80's. At 240W Continuous, it has plenty of power handling capability.

Sound Quality : 10
Using with an Ampeg VL-1002 (Lee Jackson) 100W head. Epiphone Dot Archtop, Les Paul Standard and 80's Japanese Fender Strat...all sound great through this cabinet.

Reliability : 10
It's been around this long...will probably outlast me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had the need.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing on & off for almost 30 years. I bought this used off of e-Bay picked it up locally around Seattle, WA...best $200 I ever spent. This is the last 4x12 I'll ever need. More than enough power handling, solid construction and beautiful brown & black grill cloth...looks as good as it sounds. If it were lost or stolen, I would definately hunt another one down, even if I had to drive across country to get it. If you find one, buy it...you won't be disappointed.

Basic 4x12 cabinet. single input, closed back, with celestions. Sounds great, no noticable tone coloring. This cab also came with casters, which always comes in handy.

Sound Quality : 10
This cabinet sounds amazing. I saw it in the corner at my local music store, tried it out and was bringing it home a few hours later. as previously stated, the celestions sound great and there is no noticable tone coloring at all. I've played it through a few different heads and it handles any type of sound very well.

I've had this amp for about 2 years, and it seems well put together. I am not worried about it breaking down at all, and see no need for a back up.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No need to ever bother.

Overall Rating : 10
Lately I have been playing a JCM 2000 DSL through this cab, which has recently replaced a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier. Both of these amps sounded amazing through the cabinet. I use a Les Paul Standard, a jr, and an Epiphone riviera hollowbody, and have never had a problem with sounds from this cab. If it were lost or stolen, I'd probably try to track another one of these down. All in all, It's probably the best sounding cabinet I've owned, and also the cheapest one I've ever bought.

Yamaha started manufacturing these in '83, but they don't make them anymore. Four 12" Celestions, 240 watt CONTINUOUS power handling, 8ohm, closed back guitar speaker cabinet, one input. Straighforward, great cabinet. My only minor complaint is the handles--a fat chrome tube inset on each side, a nice comfortable size for gripping, but the angle and depth of the cutout around each handle requires you to have the back of your hand facing away from the cabinet instead of toward it. That's fine if you're carrying it yourself (and you'd better have a strong back!), but if two people are carrying it this is a little awkward.

Sound Quality : 10
Celestions are great speakers, and this is a great 4x12 cab. Clear, accurate reproduction of whatever comes out of your guitar head--no noticeable coloration of tone, although of course every speaker cabinet will sound different. If anything I'd say it may be a little less mid-rangey than other cabs I've used, but I don't have another 4x12 to compare. With its huge power handling capability I actually used it for bass guitar playing in bars with a loud rock band with various amplifiers driving it, and it sounded great with no ill effects whatsoever (I was playing an Ibanez Roadster with active pickups). Clean and loud, no problem at all keeping up with a loud drummer. I also used it with a biamp bass setup for the high end. I've also used it for lead and rhythm guitar work with a Les Paul and a Strat with excellent results, using an Acoustic 150 head (115 watts, plenty loud, so this cabinet seems to be efficient enough). It has also been used with a Marshall head and as an extension cab for a Mesa Boogie Mark III, all with great results.

Reliability : 10
Never a problem, even when used for bass. It's rated at 240 watts continuous so it would be hard to hurt it. Solid heavy cabinet.

Customer Support : 9
I called Yamaha to find out what kind of speakers are in it, and they were friendly, professional, and answered my questions. I also asked about playing bass through it. The guy said it shouldn't be a problem as long as I don't push it too hard--it is a guitar cabinet not a bass cabinet after all. However they didn't have a manual or any other literature that they could send me--just one point off the score for that.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 27 years and bought this used in the late '80's (or traded for it, I can't remember). You can't go wrong with this speaker cabinet if you can find one. It's heavy to carry, but if the 4x12 sound is what you have to have you won't let that stop you. It will push major air into your audience, but sounds great at any volume. You'll have to throw a lot of watts into it to get speaker distortion, so if that's your bag, bring on the power and wear earplugs. But if that's your bag I bet you won't wear earplugs, will you?
