This amp makes a pretty good step up for a guitarist still learning. It has two channels, one clean and one distorted. Spring reverb (3), ft switch for channels and presence, efx loop, three tone controls for the distorted channel, two for the clean + seperate gain and vol, and the usual headphone jack. The only problem being switching between channels when the gain is high on the distortion, it makes a big noise :(. Haven't really pushed it yet, but it goes pretty loud with a still clean tone.

I play everything except really heavy, and this amp is fine, the tone controls are good, and with my cheap guitar (strat copy) sounds bloody amazing. I think this amp can pretty much make anything sound good, warm bluesy, harsh, you name it. The distortion, while having a nice gain, doesn't quite pick the harmonics up as well as it could, but it does okay. When i say a cheap guitar, it is pretty rubbishy, but being a three pickup job gives a huge range of tones, which the amp picks up well. Noise level is okay except (see below)

I don't think this amp would ever crap out on you, and i'd probably trust it. But keep it going for a long (real long) time, and it heats up and gets a little noisy

This view may be slightly biased, i hadn't realy previously used anything really good, only little 'box' amps. As i said before this amp would probably be perfect except for the channel switching. It must be said my previous amp was a DH-25 Soundtank, which could really only get anything juicy with distortion (i virtually always had to use a chorus on it). I probably wouldn't buy it again, if only for the switching, and a want to try something else.
