it is a very "versatile" amp and has a lot of effects but theres not much you can do with the effects and some of the effects are bad like the ring mod. it does have a built in tuner which is cool and a bank if you happen to come across a cool sound you can save it. i never use the metal.

Sound Quality : 4
i had a behringer before it and i think it sounded better than this on i just wanted it because it was bigger and i thought it was a good idea but i think i was wrong. it is just so noisy and theres so much feedback. the blues gain sounds good but too much feedback and the tone knobs dont do much when you have the bass at 12 o clock your walls will be shaking and your ears will be bleeding because of the buzz. i like the fuzz sound on the standard channel and the clan sounds good too but the metal has way too much feedback i like the distortion maily because it has the least feedback and wehn you turn up the clean higher it will be becoming distorted and it doesnt sound good. Im using an Epiphone les paul ultra and it hal alnico magnet humbuckers and idk

Reliability : 6
i wouldnt gig with it well maybe i would if i had a gig

Customer Support : No Opinion
idk

Overall Rating : 5

The new Zoom Fire-36M, combining legendary multi-effects processing with a compact, powerful speaker cabinet with an exclusive built-in microphone, giving you one of the most unique guitar combos on the market!

Exclusive Built-in Microphone
An innovative concept never seen before, the new Fire "M" amps feature mini-condenser microphones mounted on the grilles, in front of the speaker cone. A dedicated pre-amp then provides a true miced cabinet tone for recording or live sound.

Record with the Direct Output From the Mic
Output signal from the mic pre-amp is directly routed to the XLR recording output, so you can send the microphone signal directly to your recording device or PA system. The line signal can also be mixed with the XLR out, so you can blend your direct and miced signals.

Zoom Amplifier Modeling
From vintage combo to modern high gain amp sounds, Fire amps give you the tone you want at the turn of a knob. From vintage tube, to acoustic, to solid-state thrash metal, to clean-Zoom amps have it all.

Zoom Multi-Effects
A leader in effects processing for over a decade, Fire Amplifiers include a full complement of Zoom guitar effects. Standards like Chorus, Flanger, Phase, Delay, and Reverb as well as modern sounds like Ring Modulator and Slow Attack are on-board. There is a sound for every song, and every effect can be adjusted to your liking.

Sound Quality : 10
Modulation Control
The Fire-36M also features a Modulation control that allows the user to control the intensity of modulation effects with the turn of a dial.

Auto Chromatic Tuner
A built-in auto chromatic tuner allows you to tune your guitar quickly and accurately.

Foot Switch
Using the optional FS01 foot switch, the user can switch between manual mode and program mode. Switch between a clean sound for rhythm parts, and an overdrive tone for leads.

Zoom Noise Reduction
ZNR is Zoom's own noise reduction system. It cleanly cuts out spurious noise during silences in your playing. ZNR is also adjustable, and can be turned on and off.

Auxiliary Input / Phones Output
When connecting a CD player to the AUX IN, you can hear the CD playback and the sound of your guitar. This is a great feature for rehearsing, or learning a guitar part. Also, the PHONES jack lets you plug in a pair of headphones for personal listening.

I won't go into the boring details regarding the features of this amp. If you are here reading about it, you already know what this amp packs. It has numerous amp models and digital effects. It has 1 ten inch speaker as well as 2 built in mics by the speaker that allows you to connect direct to a mixing board or PA without placing a mic in front of the speaker.

I have to say that I was looking for an "all-in-one" amp that I could just plug straight into and rock. I was using a Zoom 505II pedal through a few different amps before I bought this amp. I must say that the Zoom 505II is the best pedal out there and I found that this amp is basically a 505II built into a speaker box! The amps and effects settings on the 505II pedal are exactly the same on this amp. Just what I was looking for. It is very easy to turn a few dials and get a great sound out of it. I play mostly 80's metal, and I think that this amp gives me what I need to get those sounds. I am a very happy guy since buying this amp. At 36 watts it is very loud. I have not gigged with it nor do I plan to. I got this because the amp puts out great sounds at low "bedroom" levels. Again, just what I was looking for.

I use many different guitars through this amp but I would break them down into 2 categories. Les Paul and Strat. The LP style with humbuckers sound really great throught this amp. I have no complainant whatsoever. The single coils sound much better on the clean settings but can get a good sound on the distortions due to the very good noise gate settings. The humbuckers are quiet even on the high gain settings. Overall, this amp goes from crystal clean to mayhem with no problem at all. Very high gain settings for the metal minded! The effects are all first rate. Choruses, Flanges, etc all sound fine. There are "pre-sets" for each effect, just like the 505II. When you change to an effect, turn the dial from 1-9 to get different levels of that effect. (ex: C1-C9, F1-F9..etc) Reverbs and delays etc have their own mix dial to vary the ammount of the effect which is a great and useful feature. Overall.......Very Nice!

I have only owned this for a week, but it looks like it's built to last. Very sound construction and fairly heavy to lift. Looks like it will take a thump or two. Before this I had the Fire 18 and had no problems with it, just a little bit smaller but built to the same standards.

Haven't dealt with them but I have used their website many times to download manuals, info etc...

I have been playing guitar for almost 30 years and have had many, many (too many) pieces of equipment pass through my hands. I currently have 4 other amps including a Line 6 SpiderII 112, a Marshall MG30DFX, an older 80's Marshall combo and a Crate 30 watt combo. I have to say that I love this amp to death. I used to have the 16 watt version (Fire 18) with the 8 inch speaker which also sounded amazing (Very similar to the 36 watt) but my son wanted that amp to practice on so I had to go out and replace it with this amp for myself. Best $190 I have spent in a long time. You get much more for the money than say, the Line 6 SpiderII. That is a great amp too, but I am much happier with this Zoom.

I don't think any amp in this price range has more features than the Fire-36. It even has more features than some amps ABOVE its price range. For example my Line 6 Spider 2 only allows me to save 4 personal presets--the Fire-36 allows you to save 10! My spider does not show you what your settings are (for example: bass 7, mid 4, treble 8) but the Fire-36 shows it to you digitally. When you turn the bass knob it shows you from -12 to +12 in a two digit window. Even better if you make a change a "." goes next to the number and the "." goes away if you put the bass setting back on the default value. All of this allows you to easily find out and write down you settings if you want to. Plus you get almost double the amount of amp models over the Spider 2 112 (22 vs 12). The Fire-36 has 7 effects modules and 19 effect types and the 36M features 2 mini-condenser microphones mounted in front of the speaker cone at different locations, with a dedicated pre-amp out section for direct output recordings. However, you can save 30 bucks by getting the non-M version, which is what I did. As the manual says it is identical to the M version except for lacking the mics ($199.99 without the mics). Finally, there is a Power Damp switch that lets you play at low volumes. Its nice to have but you do lose some tone.

I have tried the Roland Cube 30 watt and the Zoom Fire-36 blows it away. This is the second generation fire amp from zoom (the updated version of the older Fire-30) and the new "10-inch driver [speaker] with extended low frequency response" simply rocks. Used with the "Bottom" button it gives you mega bass. For you metal shredders out there combine this with the "edge" button and the Metal (Standard) amp model and you are ready to shred, big time. The R-fier setting of the cube 30 doesn't even come close to the settings I just described on the Zoom Fire-36. (By the way I use an Ibanez RG-570 basswood guitar with a Seymour Duncan Distortion tb-6 in the bridge.) Also there are 22 amp models to choose from--much more than the 8 of the Roland Cube! (I have nothing against roland, by the way, its just that if you are going to spend the same money you might as well get the better sounding one...) I should also mention that the built in ZNR Noise Reduction works well and you can raise or lower its settings (even my Line6 Spider 2 does not allow you to do that!) I also was able to get a good acoustic sound with the Fire-36: Clean (Vintage) + Boost + Edge + Chorus. This brings me to the stellar effects of Fire-36. There are 19 including some wild ones like pitch-doubling (you can harmonize everything in perfect 4ths or 5ths, etc.). You can alter the speed/intensity of the effects but you cannot lower or raise the mix (bummer!). You can lower the mix, however, of Delay/Reverb effects, which is nice.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it for a week so I don't know if it will last. It looks well made, and I like the fact that it is light weight wise. The manual says 12kg (24.4 lbs) but it feels lighter to me. Zoom gets knocked often, with Behringer, as "low-end". But my zoom drum machine mrt-3 is awesome too. I think they did a good job on this one. Try it out in the store before you buy if you can. I did this and as I said the Roland Cube 30 just could not compare, though the cube is built like a tank and probably could withstand more abuse than the Zoom. In fact the Zoom manual tells you to be careful with it because the knobs are (somewhat) delicate.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with Zoom.

I have been playing for 16 years. For a practice amp this is the real deal. If you get the optional footswitch you might be able to use it for SMALL (emphasis on SMALL) gigs. I didn't test the mic feature so I don't know how good it is for direct recording but that is another plus if you get the M version. (See my "Features" above for the minor differences between the 36M and non-M versions.) My Spider 2 (75 watts) is upstairs (much heavier - and I'm sick of moving it up and down...). I can sincerely give the Fire-36 a hearty recommendation. Best bang for the buck...
