This amp is the newer Banshee II. It takes up where the original Banshee left off. The original Banshee had 2 channels, shared EQ, bright switch on the clean channel, and an adjustable loop in the back. The Banshee II adds to these features a clean channel gain boost switch and a mid boost switch. The new lead channel received a gain boost switch, a mid boost switch, and a high cut knob to counteract any sharpness dialed in on the shared EQ. Also, there is a now a global master volume knob. I think the tone stack has been tweaked, too.

This section is totally subjective. I think it sounds great. The sounds of the original Banshee are in there, but there's just more goodies available. Put in the earplugs when turning past 6, because it will pummel. A very honset sound amp. Strats sounds like strats, Pauls sound like Pauls. The lead channel is crushing.

The guts of this amp are just like the original Banshee. The hand-wiring is without a doubt one of the best in the business. If you look inside a Matchless or a Two Rock, it's a chicken's nest of wiring compared the Zwengel. Carl's electronics training was in the Navy, so he knows damn well how to build a reliable circuit, and make it look great.

Carl has treated me with respect and honesty since day one. If you're honest and upfront with him, he's honest and upfront with you. He is a one man operation, and that can take a toll on turn-around time. People have to keep this in mind when dealing with Carl Zwengel. He can't build amps if he's on the phone all day, which is why I think his website is temporarily down.

This amp takes the original Banshee to the next level. If you like the sound of the original Banshee, you will love the new Banshee II. Feel free to drop me an e-mail with any questions. I also have contact info for Carl, since his website is down. If you're looking for a new one, I might be able to help you there as well.
