Decent features...the other reviews more than covered all of this. Nothing special, you get what you pay for.

Started out really good. Beat our Alvarez and Yamaha and even Takamine (though only beat the Takamine unplugged). Very strong and bright on high end, I would say a little too much. For the price it's quite good, but overall it's a very average sounding guitar. It isn't crap, but it sure isn't going to wow anyone, unless they have a guitar that's crap. Again, you get what you pay for.

Set-up was pretty good. It was actually as good as it could get. Lowering the action at all brought out a whole lot of buzzing. A couple joints a little messy, but not a really deal. Only a cosmetic problem. Decent quality wood, about the cheapes solidtop spruce you'll find (although Rogue has recently started selling one for $100, but for that price there's probably something wrong with it.

Very poor. The other reviewers rated this high, but if you look at it, none of them seem to be serious guitar players. They might take offense, but what I've found (and a friend corroborated with his similar guitar) is that these guitars are great new, and sound really good (esp. for the price) but when they're played consistently over a sustained period of time, they start to fall apart quickly. I have had mine for less than a year, and it's pretty much done for. Inside the bridge is falling apart, the frets on B and E buzz on almost every fret (open is about the only safe fingering for them) and I don't even try to play up on the fretboard. Now, I will concede that over that past year I was learning to play guitar, so I probably played it pretty rough (though I kept very good care of it--always in case when not being played!) and I did play it for at least an hour a day, more than most people would play their guitar. Good learning guitar, but don't expect it to make it past that.

I haven't been playing more than a year, but I've been playing extensively during that year and have enough hardcore musician friends that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to guitars. I've played the following guitars at length (more than just a store trial)--Alvarez, Yamaha, Takamine, Martin, Samick, so that's what I'm comparing it to. This is a fantastic guitar to learn on, because there is little risk in paying this little for a guitar. It is also a great roadworthy guitar, though I wouldn't take it on a gig circuit. Basically, durability is so low that if you're an accomplished player at all you don't want to mess with this guitar, unless you want a guitar that sounds decent, and that you'll only play on trips and such, places you don't want to bring your real guitar. This comes highly recommended as a learner, (actually, as a learner it's as good as they come...decent sound and low price, what more could you want?) but anything beyond that you need to suck it up and fork over some real money. I rated it so low because it simply won't last...durability is horrible.

2001, chinese made guitar, isn't everything made there now? amazing to find an inexpensive guitar with a solid top. I'm not just sure about the rose wood sides and back, they may be laminated, but just could be solid also, Its an A grade rose wood so lots of color but not the most expensive grade as AAAA grade. Acoustic with lots of ping and higher end than my 67 Frontier. real warm sound though. neck is mohagany with rose wood fret board. what a deal!!!! unbelievable sound and price. tuners are the weak point, oh well for what I paid I'll replace them. neck is fairly thin which I like as I am use to it, on my Epi. came with a gig bag. Man what a deal. finish was very decent and totally acceptable. Good Grief, this baby has inlayed abalone around the rosette. unheard of. the top Monogram is a decal I believe.

I play mostly oldies and church music. I like the sound, just enough diffrent than my 67. with more treble. I think its a real pleasing sound and look. bright much tinnier than my other guitar. Its the rosewood I think. I like the action its low-medium and suits me well. no buzzing up or down the neck.

action was set up fine when I received it no complaints at all. top is not the most perfect bookmatch but well within reason I've seen high dollar guitars that didn't impress me with their match. only flaw is little dark spot about the size of a small cigerette burn on the front its under the finish just a flaw in the wood I suppose really very unnoticeable unless your really looking for something to bitch about. everything fits fine like I said before the weak points are the tuners. for the price like I said before what a deal. can't give it a 10 as the woods are not the high end woods, but still so much better than laminates.

I'm sure the guitar would stand up to live playing, I would say the interior bracing is a bit beefy, thus the lower price. not as well shaved on the inside a bit rougher bracing of larger dimension. finish should last fine. strap button is solid. I think a person could play it as long as he took care of it and didn't drop it or anything stupid. I would gig with it without a backup no problem if all I was looking for was the higher end sound as I said much brighter sound without as much bass as my aged guitar. Oh well, momma this would be a fine guitar for your fledgling, could keep it forever if taken care of and not really have to be embarressed about it.

I've played off and on for 20 years, and I still suck at it but oh well. I own a 67 Epiphone frontier a traditions 87 les paul c170 and this little gem. Ive also owned epi les paul and a dean flying v. dont like the electrics so for a backup or for something else to play this baby is great. If it were lost or stolen I'd buy another I mean what the hay, I've pissed away $75 on beer over the weekend what a great thing. I bought this sight unseen on ebay because of the solid top and the price almost impossible to beat. inlayed abalone around the rosette, rosewood back and sides, solid top, rosewood finger board come on you cant lose. I got to give it a 10 on features for the price. Gadzooks. only thing I wish I had was another one to give to my brother. lets see christmas is coming.

made in 2002, 15 frets, solid spruce top, rosewood sides and back, dreadnought body style, rosewood neck. Beatiful Guitar...came with martin strings...a shine to the finish on the body.

THIS IS A LOUD GUITAR. It just rings out loudly and the notes sustain a cheerful ring after they are played. The actual sound quality stands out too. Some of the middle strings are louder than the higher E, but these may be the Marting strings. Beautiful sounding guiar.

No production date shows that I've seen. 20 frets . 14 to the body. Solid top spruce. The spruce pattern on mine was VERY wise at spots, but I don't think that is usual. Indian (?) rosewood for back and sides is listed, but again It doesn't seen to be one SOLID piece although it is rosewood. The neck is mahogany. Binding is 5 layer black and white with a herringbone pattern down the middle of the back. Finished in a nice gloss. The tuners are cheap. The bridge, though described in a few different places as bone, is really plastic with compensated saddle although the intonation at the octave was way off on the low A and E. When it arrived the strings were already starting to cut through the plastic saddle. It comes with Martin strings which although being wrapped when it arrived had a nick on three strings around the soundhole. This I have found to be a Martin string trait, having seen it before in a new set off the shelf. Because of the woods involved it is getting a higher mark than otherwise.

This is an acoustic guitar, no electronics. It is louder than most other acoustic guitars. I had a chance to compare it with others (Fender, Martin, Dean, Hohner) It is LOUDER! If that's what you want, get it. Bright sound. A & D strings stand out, but that might be Martin's fault too. I compared this to $1000 guitars. Louder! Needs different strings. Ernie Ball Earthwood seems to have brought out the low E nicely

Neck needs adjusting. Strings need replacing. Need new tuners. Needs new saddle. Some frets not pressed in completely. (I'll never understand how that happens. It seems to be the thing nowadays) Nut should be replaced or lowered.

O.K. After all that criticism how can I rate this guitar highly? I have played many guitars, and in spite of everything this guitar isn't, what it is is a great start on what could be more than a very good guitar. This is a great guitar in the making. I have never bought a guitar that was "ready to go" and I have looked and been disappointed by Martins that sounded weak, didn't handle well and still demanded top dollar. So I will do what I would have done anyway, Tweak it into something that will respond right. Set the neck, replace the strings, saddle and nut, seat the frets, and after all of that still be amazing dollars ahead of what I could not have got at six times the price. AXL will probably never know how close they came to making a truly great guitar The price. The price. The price.

It was built in Taiwan in 2002. It has 20 frets. The AXL-715 acoustic guitar has a solid stika spruce top. It has no electronics, it is a pure dreadnaught style 6 string guitar. Therein lies it's beauty. Listen up folks, for the money I swear there are no other guitars that can equal it. It's back and sides are made of SOLID East Indian Grade AA rosewood. Bookmatched to perfection. The neck is made of Mahogany with a top grade of rosewood for the fingerboard. The frets are professionaly finshed and polished. It's excellent gloss finish caps off the outstanding abalone rosette work. It is a non- cutaway body. It has a rosewood bridge with a comensated bone saddle and a bone nut. The action is superb. It plays like butter. The intonation is perfect right out of the box. The tuners are proably the only place that AXL cheated a little bit. They have a little slack in them so I replaced them with gold Grovers and that was all that needed to be done to it. It has a neck that feels like that of a Gibson Les Paul in it's radius and shape. The action is that of a Les Paul with no buzzes or dead spots anywhere. It came with a hard shell case.

The AXL-715 has a sweeter and softer sound than Mahogany box guitar. It's sustain and ring are unbelieveable. It has the most beautiful voicing I have ever heard in an inexpensive guitar anywhere. I play blues, jazz, rock and country. I have been a professional performer and player for 40 years. I own Moondog Studios in Baltimore, Maryland. I believe can say I know what sounds good and what doesn't.
The AXL AG-715 has a great harmonic sustain and ring also. Once again the only dislike I could find was the tuning gears and that was an easy and cheap fix.
Action, Fit, & Finish

Once again the AXL AG-715 right from the factory had an excellent action and intonation. I changed to Martin strings that came on it to a set of GHS Silk & Steel ones in the 11 thru 50 guage. That gave it a sweet and mellow voicing that makes the AG-715 just sing. I could find no flaws in the workmanship or fit and finish on this instrument.

You can certainly depend on this instrument for playing live or for studio use. For live use you might want to add a pick up system or use say a AKG C1000 microphone. The hardware, except for the before mentioned tuning gears, is first rate. The finish is a non-factor and the strap buttons are solid and safe. I always have 6 to 8 guitars when I perform so back up is always there for me.
