Admira Elvira Spanish Guitar

This guitar was bought new in Spain by my Mother's Spanish guitar pal (study buddy if you must) in 1978 (for #60). It seems well made and had the usual classical attributes,redish brown in colour with flowery things near the rosette. I'm an electric guitarist and don't usually play classical,but,have been tinkering with this since I was 12 and had cause to pull it out today when tweaking a new electric.

The tuners look rubbishy,as they are open backed,but, are fine in operation.

I just discovered the name when I looked in the soundhole,and found a newish looking dealer label almost over the The "admira" name. Elvira is written at the bottom of the label (note to HM kids,this has nothing to do with Elvira mistress of the dark!!)

Lovely, i can strangle spanish ballad and other half cocked creations out of this puppy with impunity...soft tone=play near neck,harsher tone= play near bridge

Nice action,but,woooah is this thing wide -at the neck- I measured the nut and it comes to 2 inches (50mm) and the depth at the first fret is 14 or 15/16ths! Despite this the nylon and low tensioned strings make it a joy to play. All the finish is fine hardly any fret wear,give it some ax-wax and you'ld swear it was new.Body joins at 12th fret so solo heroics are out.

This thing is rock like in it's durability - well,ok, it ilves in a case and is played once a year or so with new strings every 4 0r 5 years. Keeping it in it's case has paid well.11 out of 10.

At 24 yrs of age she's a bit past warranty.

Have a look at an Admira if you need a spanish guitar. Mum gave up playing and i drag it out when i'm watering the dog,etc,so I'm not 100 percent sure about how it would stick up to daily use,but, given her longevity i'd say yes - get one.
I'm biased ,this thing is what caused me to be interested in guitar (learned Whole Lotta love and Smoke On The Water on it :) )so 10 out of 10.

Objectively i'd say it's an adequate middle range classical with a comfortable neck and good durability.
