One of many Admira guitars produced in Spain in 2004. The Sombra is distinctive because of it's light coloured solid spruce top and it's distictive dark sapelly back and sides with a rosewood fingerboard.
It's finished with a thick clear laquer and nicely finished gold-plated machine heads.
It would be considered a standard size classical guitar.
Sound

The sound is very bright in the trebles and the bases hold deep and vibrant mood.
The decay of the notes is rather fast and the projection of sound is limited. The harmonics are good considering the make up of the instrument, but again suffer from fast decay.
Action, Fit, & Finish

My guitar has not been modified in anyway, which is credit to the luthier and the outlet, as it was obviously set-up well to begin with.
The finish laquer is smooth and unblemished but on close inspection it is noticable that the wood has had a few dents and the laquer has filled them in. This doesn't detract from the sound of the instrument though.
Overall the finish of the instrument is good.

This can only be described as a student guitar, for students that are on the early road in classical guitar playing. Because of the solid top it undoubtedly gives the instrument longer life, helping the student to progress further before needing upgrade.
It must be said though, even though this is a low end guitar, the sound it produces and the apparent quality of the woodwork give it a positive edge on a number of other similarly targeted instruments.
For a newcomer or someone who needs a guitar for travelling, practicing and maybe to stand out a little from the crowd, this has to be on your short list.
