i bought this in 2007 online. i was looking for a 7-srting with a floyd for under $600. it didn't appear too common. then i found this. and was set on getting it.
24 frets
i'm thinking it's a laminated top
1 volume and 1 tone knob, 2 pickups, i apparently got this one right before they started selling them with emgs :(
quilted top
strat-styled body
floyd rose-licensed trem
jumbo frets

this sucker has faithfullly served me for almost 3 years now faithfully through exstensive play. when i started with it i had a zoom combo amp, i then got a marshall lead 100 mosfet + 4x12 cab, and it's sound has worked well through these amps, i also ran a digitech DF-7 through to get a more saturated distortion. when i first got it, in the honeymoon phase this thing was amazing, looking back, the pickups aren't really anything special, they do their job, 'nuff said. the cleans sound pretty good, in fact on my recordings, the clean has sounded the clearest and purest. i've used this thing for several different music avenuess, rock, metal, and even church praise band. comes in handy sometimes when capoed. really i wanted something that i wouldn't need to down-tune to play. throw some duncans or dimarzio's on it, and it'll scream!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
ok, when i got this delivered, the action sucked. it was really high, and when in tune, it would fret flat or sharp after like the 12th fret on the higher strings. got that fixed up and it works fine. the neck isn't much wider than a 6-string, and it's thinner than my other 7-string. so for new 7-players this would be a good thing. the floyd stays in tune for the most part. it's just a pain if you wanna switch from standard (BEADGBE) to drop (AEADGBE) i'd reccomend another guitar for alternate tunings as it seems to not like being switched back and forth. my only complaint really is that the guitar doesn't have a little holder for your allen wrench for the nuts on the floyd. i just lost mine after like 2+ years, and can't lock it right now until i find it or buy another.

Reliability/Durability : 9
this guitar would and does withstand live play. i've had it for 2+ years and have not had the pickups crap out on me. but the strap buttons are to be watched. mine came out, and the guitar crashed on the floor of a friend's garage. and it still plays fine, there's a large crack in the finish right below the volume and tone knobs (in the lamiated finish, but it still plays. i'm giving it a 9 because i'm rough on everything and i tend to break most of my stuff if only once. and after a couple years of abuse, it's still working, i find that a miracle.

i've been playing for 5 years now, and on 7's for 4 of them. i got this as an upgrade from the squier stagemaster 7-string, and was delighted when i got it. i'd buy it again if stolen or lost, i'm actually in the fix to get another for alternate tuning. i've played an ibanez rg321, and this thing holds solid to it in my opinion. there's not too many people i know who play 7's in my area, so a comparison isn't really available other than that. definitely a good 7 to start with, get used to a floyd. and if anything, i highly reccomend it for anyone who downtune's their 6's. you get to understand guitar more if you try and play drop songs on a 7, makes the player more innovative, and they can still simultaneously play all the popular stuff in standard.

2007, korea, 24 frets, laminated top i believe (or a very thin coating). 1 tone, 1 volume. 2 humbuckers (duncan-inspired. blue flame-maple top. strat-ish body. floyd rose + locking tuners. jumbo frets. pretty much what i wanted from this guitar...

Sound : 7
well this is an interesting guitar, it's the cheapest i could find with the specifications that i wanted (7-string, floyd rose for $425.) after playing it for about a year, i've come to the conclusion that this is a decent guitar, but has little personality. yes it has what i want, but it seems limited in veratile sound. i use a marshall lead 100 mosfet with a crate cab that i bought at a pawn shop, and run it through a digitech df-7 distortion pedal as well as a delay of the same type. i can get the biting guitar tone that i want from it (i finally got it after like a week of tinkering). but the problem is, with my other guitar (1970's aria pro II Les Paul custom), it has so much more personality, with this guitar it seems to merely put out exactly what was put in it, like a mirror showing exactly what you see. no luster, no shimmer, just bare bones. it's probably the pickups, i've noticed that the newer version of this guitar comes with emg's. mine did not, they were stock "custom agile pickups" that seem to be seymor duncan inspired. don't get me wrong, it's a great guitar for the price, but after a year of playing it, i've realized it has no real original, or veratile tones.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
the factor set up was a joke. when tuned the guitar played notes sharp on the upper E and B strings. i had it professionally set up and it plays well. i tune maybe once or twice a day (as in about 2-3 hours of play). you can't really yank on the trem to go up, the cavity for the knife of the floyd isn't deep enough to really do that, but for dive-bombing, it's perfectly functional. and it holds its tune quite well. i recently had a strap button pop out and the guitar crashed to the floor. now there's a large crack in the finish. it seems as if the finish is laminated on top of the wood. the guitar still works and plays fine though...

Reliability/Durability : 7
this guitar will and has withstood live play, and the hardware is pretty solid as well. the finish is another story, i'm thinking that it won't last as long as other guitars, but for at least 5 years of continuous contact it should hold. you may want to look into a straplock system for this guitar, just saying. it's been a dependable guitar since i've had it, but i would never not use this without a backup, just because you're out if you snap a string. i would reccomend either another one of these or have a down-tuned 6-string (heavier guaged strings)handy, because it'll sound crappier with a down-tuned 6-string with 9's

well, it's exactly what i wanted from a $400 7 string with a floyd rose. it got me to test the waters of having a floyd without spending an astronomical amount of money. i've been playing for 5 years and have always been interested in 7 strings. this was definetely better than my first 7 string (Squire Stagemaster 7), and it definetely won't be my last, as i have seen that rondomusic.net has just recently started selling a telecaster 7-string. i enjoy using this guitar in standard B or Drop A, and after playing on a 7 string for 3+ years, i've found it to be more versatile than using a 6-string dropped to C or B or further. so i would reccomen buying this guitar as the newer version has emg's for pickups and it seems that Rondo Music is perfecting their creations.

This was made in 2005 in China. It has 24 frets, basswood body, with a flame maple top. The controls are volume and tone (coil tap) with a 3 way switch. Dual Dimarzio Blazes adorn the Neck and bridge position. The neck is a 27" bolt-on 3 piece maple with an Ebony fingerboard, and this one came with a transparent purple finish. A licensed Floyd Rose in incuded, and the tuners are Grovers. The neck is c-ahaped, and is reminiscent of the neck profile on an ESP/LTD 7 string. The frets are tall, but not very wide like you'd see in a Jackson or Ibanez.

Sound : 8
I play industrial and gothic black metal, and the Blazes in this guitar sound very clear going through my Ppod XT Pro. I actually found myself dialing back the mids a bit. Blaze owners will not be surprised, but other basswood guitar owners will probably be surprised the clear tones this guitar produces, although I contribte this to the extended scale length. The coil tap works the way you would expect, brighten the sound while adding the traditional 60 cycle hum.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
The guitar wasn't set up at all when I received it, but a quick tune-uo leveled the bridge and made the guitar playable. The pickups, although close, were balanced well, and did not sound like they needed adjusting. I needed to tighten down te locking nut, but I didn't notice any noticeable flaws, the frets were crowned reasonably well, and although this guitar could definitely used a fret level the action was pretty light.. The trem stays in tune reasonable well, but the CAVITY IS NOT ROUTED DEEP ENOUGH FOR FULL TRAVEL. Personally, I would just replace it with a real OFR, which defeats the need for a trem post plate, and makes the route deep enough for full trem travel.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I bleieve this guitar oculd take a beating (although clearly the finish must suffer), but I purchased two anyway, just to have a spare. I alway replace the strap buttons with Cliplocks, so no issues there. I've played 2 shows with so far with no issues, and have gotten more compliments on my tone recently then I did with the RG so life is good.

The Agile Interceptor is an insanely great guitar for the money spent, it's proof positive that a great guitar can be made at a modest price. As of this writing all the issues I've had with the guitar have been related solely to the addition of the licensed trem. My feeling is this will be addressed in future versions, but for the price one could very well install an original Floyd Rose, and still be within the range of what I feel this guitar is worth.
