I bought one of these new when I was sixteen years old. I'm 47 now. I've played a lot of guitars in that space of time, some crappy beyond being playable and some very expensive and highly respected. I wouldn't trade this guitar for any of them or for any amount of money, it simply plays like a dream, the action and response is unmatched and anyone else who has ever played it just falls in love with it. It buzzes a bit noe and then as the frets are worn -but I'm afraid to let anyone touch it to do a refret, I'm sure it would be ruined. Nad yet it has had a frew mods, bridge replaced with Kahler locking vibrato, bridge pickup replaced with humbucker and pickup wiring has added switches to allow single/parallel/revers coil combinations.

Originally, the sound was great, but with pickup and wiring changes all the possible combinations make it a real chameleon now. I've always run through a lot of effects and into very loud amps. My tastes run the gamut. I've played everything from Floyd to Happy the Man, Halen to Skynyrd and I can always cont on it to deliver.

From the factory the action wasn't bad. I quickly tweaked to where it now feels like the action "isn't there" every other guitar I've played feels like a 12-string compared to this thing. Others have described it as "you don't really 'play it', you just 'touch it'".

This guitar looks almost as good today as the day I bought it. Sure, it has some road wear, but then again, so do I. But the maple neck (yes, maple -remember this thing has a black Les Paul body ... with a blond neck, it's a real head turner) is a real treasure, the finish on it is, and has always been as smooth as glass and seemingly as hard. I do think you'd have to work at breaking this thing.

My dad bought this guitar to sell on ebay.He only payed 50 bucks for it at a garage sale.I traded to him a homemade resonator guitar (aka dobro)I paid 150 for it.It has a sharp black body, with nice lookin hummbucker pickups, stop bar tremmy, and of course the toggle switch.4 sound/tone knobs.Very nice ivory look-a-like plastic tunning knobs. It has the open book mustache "lawsuit" head stock, which makes me belive its a japan made guitar, alot like my old Electra I had.
One heck of a nice neck, has perfect action. Its one of them blonde maple necks, with the white trim and black inlays. The features on this thing to me are hot.

Man the sound on this thing rocks.I have played alot of fender strats and gibson lp's.This guitar has pretty close sound to them.it is one nicely made Les Paul Copy.I use an rp2000 through a 1959 gretch dual twin electromatic amp.Maybe its the tubes on the amp that give it the sound im hearing, but I think its the guitar too.
I play alot of speed metal randy rhoades stuff, and alot of acid rock blues hendrix stuff. This guitar suits it for those styles very well.I play classic rock too.

Oh man, the action on this is buttery.I can go from the top of the neck hittin hammer on's pull off's and slides all the way down to the last fret very very fast. I give this a high rating lol.

This thing is built like a tank.its heavy, but easy to play. Its well over 30 years old.The finish is good.I wouldnt play at a gig without a back up though, no matter what guitar your playin.A new gibson, fender, ibanez,or even PRS can have its flaws when your playin, you could short out a volume switch, input wire, or even break a tunning machine.Blow a pickup too.
So always have a backup no matter what.Although i could depend on this guitar, but I would still have a back up.

Ok kids heres the low down on the Aims Les Paul.. It was made by Rogue..yes ROGUE along with a line of inexpensive amps. There was also a line of bass guitars and bass amps, the peak of their short production was in the early 70's and was finnished before 1975. Im
not sure were there factory was but an educated guess would be Japan
or Korea because the construction is identical to the Aria Pro and Univox and so many of the other copy lps. By this I mean the "hollow"
yes I said "hollow" archtop which is "glued on to the guitar body". This hollow space can be seen when removing the bridge pickup and takes away most of the vintage Lp tone from the guitar and leaves you with a sort of a hollow body 335 sound only muffled by no sound
holes. Check around on the net and on ebay you will find old sale flyers from Rogue advertising these amps and guitars.
features were:
3 piece maple neck with Black block inlays
LP style bound body
two tone ,two volume controls
gibson style headstock with AIMS in pearl inlay (probably not real)
sealed kluson style tuners (definately japan made)

well it sure looks like a Lp but it dont sound like one.... the pickups are powerful, but they feed back like mad with the covers.
The coils coldn't be wax potted. If a person were going to use this
guitar for practice or anything else a pickup change would be a must.
This thing sounds like a hollow body with the F holes plugged up...for lack of a better description. It might be ok to play slide
on the neck pickup.

here is where the guitar shines... the maple neck is very playable and very smart looking with the black inlays and the fretwork aint to
bad. The neck wood is top quality 3 piece and is really solid. the finnish on the body looks really great as dose the binding (too bad you cant play notes on the finnish) the headstock inlay (probably immitation MOP) dose however look great. the action is easily adjustable and can be dialed in to that low fast feel very easily. this thing probably has a better feel than a modern day epiphone for
instance. The guitar feels solid and has a good weight to it very similar to a gibson LP.

this guitar is built like an M1 A1 Tank. Ive seen them 30 yrs old and still going strong with 90% of the original parts. The 3 piece maple neck is indestructible.

overall... It isnt a LP and it dosent sound like one but many, many
copies I have played from Japan dont have the tones of a Gibson LP and you are not going to get these tones from any foriegn copy that
sells used for about $100.00. Basically speaking...you get what you pay for kids ...you dont get anything else.... Bottom line is, its a great looking, durable practice guitar or a backup and not much else
If you want "ANY QUALITY AT ALL FROM A COPY LP...GET A HOHNER SET NECK" FOR ABOUT $250 - $300.00. I started playing in 1977.

All the ratings I have read seem to be accurate. My Aims Les Paul Custom was purchased used in 1976 for $70.00 USD. Original price paid from seller was $190.00 USD. I did replace the treble pick-up with an Ibenez Hummbucker in 1977 ($27.00) I was 16-years old in 1976 playing this axe through a Marshall 100-watt tube stack. Today, playing the same guitar through a Peavey Sheffield 212---STILL SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!

No idea when this thing was made...it's probably mid 70's, when Randall Amplifiers was distributing the Aims Product line. Aims Amps seem to pop up on eBay fairly regularly. I've only seen three of their guitars though, a Tele Style and another 2 of these Les Paul Custom Copies...which sold for $125.00 & $255.00 by the way. This one is in good shape for it's age...almost 30 years old, although a bit worn as far as the hardware goes, TOM & Stop Tail Piece finish worn and a bit pitted, tuners...same as TOM & ST, pickup rings are warped (and will be replaced w/new black ones)...but...the neck is incredibly sweet to play...and it loooks brand new...3 piece maple neck w/maple cap fretboard and black block inlays, jumbo frets, 24 3/4" scale. Neck fits the body pocket snugly enough. No noticable gaps. Pickups are high output and w/the front/back bound Mahogany solidbody (which has a couple of dings and player scuffs but nothing major in the way of damage) underneath the faux archtop (you can see the assembly of the sokid mahogany body and the faux archtop from the control cavity...it has an archtop "ply" suspended above the top of the body) it kicks out some pleasant "woman tones" though w/o feedback. I was impressed w/the sound, even w/old grungy strings that were on it, through a couple of different high quality amps, both tube and solid state. It's difficult to find information on Aims Guitars as they apparently only made them for a real short period of time...but it appears that Aims set out to make some decent copies of some of the most popular guitar models that the big boys were making. Components have lasted almost 30 years, remain functional and have stood the test of time. It's a budget axe, but a well made one.

Excellent. The stock pickups are unmarked and unknown as to manufacture...but they have plenty of character, output and raw grind to drive every amp that I plugged it into while trying it out. They were a bit worn and the finish is a bit pitted from age...but oh the tone these things pack...think Clapton's Bluesbreaker "Woman Tone". Next to the neck, the pickups were my favorite feature. Played nicely both clean and dirty...very versatile pickups. No need to change unless you want some Zakk Wylde EMGs!

Hey...this is an almost 30 year old used guitar. It's built like a tank and has stood up to whatever it's been subjected to. It has aged gracefully, has character and looks stylish as well as being a true player type guitar. The maple neck really makes it stand out...it's one of the best/most comfortable necks I've ever played. It's a budget guitar, that, although not perfect, is well designed and manufactured.

Hey...it's "withstood this long". Wouldn't expect it to simply fall apart now. May change the gold hardware, TOM & Stop Tail, for new ones someday, but that would simply be for cosmetic reasons, not functional ones. Everything on this guitar appears ROCK SOLID.

Been playing for a few years now, own 8 guitars currently and have owned probably 50 over the course of my lifetime. This one has a vibe all it's own...bound black lacquer body and matching headstock look like classy like a regular Les Paul Custom...but the lovely and "like new" 3 Piece Maple Neck w/Maple Cap Fretboard and Black Block Inlays really top this thing off. Pickups are vintage and absolutely ooze classic tone. If it were lost/stolen, and I was fortunate enough to come across another...HELL YES yes I'd buy it. I'd buy another even if this one weren't stolen!
