This is basically a Harmony Rocket 2-pickup (Dearmonds single coil).
It has 2 volume controls and 2 tone controls plus a 3 position toggle
switch for pickup selection. I'm not sure how old it is but I would
guess probably mid to late sixties vintage. It doesn't have an
adjustable neck truss rod, but the neck is straight as an arrow.
It is original as the day it was sold. Everything works perfectly.
They made them to last in the USA.

Sound : 10
A friend of mine owned one of these back in the late sixties and I
thought it had a great sound then (He was a talented musician), and
when I found this at the Music Exchange and plugged it in to an amp,
the great sound came through once again. (Time Warp) These old two pickup Rockets are really, really nice sounding/playing guitars.
Sound is rich, full, and bright.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Guitar has great action. It is not a bit clunky and it a great guitar
to play (plugged in or not). I love the feel of it. It has held up
very well for it's long life. Very well.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It is probably over 30 years old. The finish polished up nicely.
It has some cracks on the side where the amp wire plugs in. Someone
probably left the thing plugged in all the time and it fell or something. But, even though it has cracks, it is still solid.
I do use an angle style plug though. Very dependable guitar.
Also, it is a beauty to look at. Good old American made Electric
guitar that can still honk it on.

I wouldn't know where to look. Is Montgomery Wards or Harmony Guitars
still in business. I don't think they are.

Overall Rating : 10
I saw this old guitar in the store several months ago and should have
purchased it then, but I didn't. Every couple of months I would still
see it and pick it up and look at it. I finally got smart and bought
it. The Musician's Exchange made me a pretty good deal (I thought) on it. I would recommend anyone who comes across one of these old Airline's (Harmony Rocket) and wants a great guitar for the money, don't hesitate to try it out. Play it on a tube amp and turn up the
volume. This baby can rock your socks off.

This guitar was probably made by Harmony as it is identical to the Harmony Rocket. It's a 1964 USA made beauty. It has 2 pickups, both diamond cut DeArmonds by Rowe Industries. The neck feels great in my hand, more like a fender fat neck than anything. Short scale 20 fret neck. 3-way pickup selector. F-holes hollowbody. I did replace the tuners with some Ping Deluxe 3 over 3's that go well with the age of the guitar and actually work which makes this a player

Sound : No Opinion
The pickups are great, lots of tone just like most DeArmond's, a few changes will make it a perfect player--i.e. a ground wire to eleminate buzz.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
I got lucky with this vintage guitar, the neck is straight and has low action with no buzz. There is no truss rod so it is hit or miss with some of thesee old guitars.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Well it's been around for 36 years and still plays great, so I see no reason for it to fall to peices now
