Ca. 1962 made in Texas.Hollow core body...it's light. Two single coil pickups. This one has a three and three headstock. Blonde Mist paint, rosewood board.3-way switch, vol and tone knobs. It doesn't have many features...only great pickups and a nice neck...that's enough!!

Sound : 9
These are great sounding pickups. I had heard that the earlier larger pickups weren't as good but these have a great rich tone with nice bite. Alamo used these units on almost all their guitars I've seen...they have some of the cool Danelectro sound, but are distinctive. The hollow core body adds a nice character to the sound,,,this thing has nice sustain unplugged which is usually a good sign for how a guitar will sound plugged in.The middle position is a little quiet...maybe it's wired out of phase?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I had been led to believe that these were in the "nice to look at but forget actually playing it" category...not true at all. It seems like Alalmo put all the money into the pickups and the neck on these guitars. I know there can be alot of variation but this one plays well and has an easy, slightly chunky neck with a good rosewood board. The "Blonde Mist" paint job is a nice color but they did'nt exactly go for the high-dollar finish here! This is an area where it does look like a cheap guitar.

Reliability/Durability : 8
It's lasted forty years plus though I don't think this one was played too much..

Customer Support : No Opinion
Good Luck...just go to San Antonio and ask for the Alamo!!

Overall Rating : 8
This is a cool little guitar that will interest someone who want something different, but playable. Great sound for Blues or Rock'n'Roll.
