Zemaitis disc-style guitar (Ron Wood style)with 3 Entwhistle designed humbuckers, 5 way strat style switch, 1 volume, 3 tone controls, 24 frets with diamond shaped MOP markers. The neck has pearloid binding along the fretboard and headstock and the headstock is a large Gibson style 3 tuners per side configuration. All hardware is a satin-chrome finish, including the pickups and rings, with the exception of the disc shaped aluminium pickguard. Black painted body and neck is a modified telecaster design but not quite as thick. I believe the body is mahognany, the fingerboard is rosewood. Tune-o-matic style bridge, made in China.

Sound : 8
Sounds great for the price. The pickups are comparable to a lower tier Les Paul or SG, same sound. I'm using a Egnator Rebel 20 amp and a Digitech RP150 pedal for reverb/Delay. I play classic style metal and it does fine for that. The bridge pickup sounds great, the neck doesn't really stand out and the middle pickup is kind of a waste of space. Nothing wrong with the pickup, just not a fan of 3 humbucker guitars. When I bought it used, it was rewired with new pots and a 3 way fender switch which has only single pickup positions. The middle pickup is what you'd expect, less bass than the neck position and not as much treble as the bridge. Quiet, no noise to speak of. Clean or dirty, it sounds fine. It doesn't stand out like a good set of Seymour Duncan pickups, but it'll do the job.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Previous owner had set the action, seems fine. Not really low, but comfortable. Workmanship seems fine, paint job is adequate, not much gloss. Tuners work fine, plays fine, neck a little fat on the sides, more gibson style. Set in neck. Pots and caps were replaced by the previous owner, they sound fine, but are not stock.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I would play live with this guitar, it seems reliable and sturdy. I'm a craftsman (woodworker) by trade and the craftsmanship is good, just could have used some better quality paint. The aluminium disc-pickguard is actually engraved, not photo-engraved and seems like it will last the test of time also.

I've never had to deal with the company.

I've been playing for 30 years on and off, mostly a rythm player doing anything from 60's pop-rock to 80's hard rock / heavy metal. I play with allot of gain/distortion. I've used Line Six spider amps for the last few years and recently purchased an Egnator Rebel 20 amp and a Digitech RP150 pedal for reverb/Delay. The Alden sounds great on either combination. Room for improvement? I might eventually put some Seymour Duncan Humbuckers on it, but the stock pickups will do the job in the meantime. Good value fot the money, but if I were going to spend $600 on a main guitar I'd go with a PRS SE model guitar instead. I own one and the PRS is a better made guitar in the same price range.

Pros: Well made, good pickups, stays in tune and is comfortable to play. Metal-disc pickguard gives it a unique look, the selling point for me really. I always loved Ron Wood's original Zemaitis guitar, but not enough to shell out 3 or 4 grand for an Greco clone of the original. This was a reasonable compromise for me.

Cons: Too much Satin-chrome hardware! I could see it on the bridge and tailpiece, to blend with the brushed aluminium disc, but it would have looked much better with chrome pickup covers, tuners, volume knobs and black pickup rings. I may replace the rings and knobs eventually.

Very suprised,Feels great fast neck and smooth frets,
for the money this is MUCHO-BANGO for the buck,
minor finish flaws, but you must look very close.
9-nothing is perfect

Reliability/Durability : 8
Feels solid, cheaper hardware, I might replace bridge, tail
and tuners. but I'll see what happens in a couple months.
finish seems good and long lasting.
very dependable, would play without a back-up.

Playing for 40 years and owned tons of stuff.
this guitar is a great deal.
I would definetly buy another.
Love the guitar, hate nothing(life's too short to hate)
ranks up there in playability to Gibson studio models
better in my opinion than Fender.
Wish it had a Bigsby, (might add).
Get this if you play Rock/Blues.
For $500 you can't go wrong! Tons of Value !!

ron wood zemaitis styled guitar. Mahogany set neck, body, looks to be ebony fingerboard. Gloss black with machine engraved aluminum disc front. 3 entwhistle (surprisingly good)humbuckers, 24 fret.

Sound : 10
Great sounding guitar. Sound falls somewhere between 3 PU les paul and 3 PU SG. Sounds like a 3 PU les paul with more punch and attitude. These stock pickups are actually very good. I had every intention on changing them because I always remove stock pickups, but I am actually going to leave these in. Think hot PAF, reminds me of 70's dimarzios. GREAT rock and classic rock guitar. Could even be cool for some country. Don't think I would use it for jazz though.

Made in China I believe, but nowadays the guitars coming from Asia are every bit as well constructed as the US in my opinion, just cheaper hardware in most cases.Very solidly built. Feels sturdy and tough. Taking off a couple points here cause there were some minor cosmetic flaws. At this price I can't really complain though. The flaws were merely cosmetic though, like a speck of paint on the aluminum disc. No structural flaws . One scratchy pot but all gutitars from asia have scratchy pots. If this were a $4000 guitar I would complain but for $700 t is to be expected and I can't really complain cause it is an awesome guitar. Setup was good out of the box, a few minor adjustments to my liking. Neck is awesome, not too fat, not to thin, just right! Nut was a little high but I prefer that on a new guitar cause then you can file to where you want it. Better than having one too low!

Reliability/Durability : 9
Feels tough but have only had it a couple months. Don't forsee any trouble though.

Like I said I have only had it a couple of months. have had no need to contact anyone

Have been playing many many many years ( a nice way of saying I am Old!) Have played the greco comparable model. All I can say is save yourself $3000 and buy one of these. This is every bit as good sounding and playing a guitar. Like I said before, other than a few minute finish flaws, I have NO complaints at all. I am in love with this guitar and I thank Alden guitars for making an affordablr alternative to the ridiculously priced Z guitars.
