This guitar was called "SGC" Springfield Guitar Company back in 1997/98. The only difference between a "SGC" and Allen as I can see is the rosette patern on the sound hole. SGC I guess is difunct company. I traced the allen guitar using the same model #. Same as the Allen - Made in Korea.
My SGC has a bearclaw sitka top and what looks like Rose wood back and sides. H-750 under the saddle pickup with 3-band EQ. Although the fret board looks like roeswood it feels like laminated immitation. It has mother of pearl inlays and glod tuners.
I had the action lowered and use light elixir strings.

I have play this guitar often, recording and live preformances. Unplugged the guitar has enough volume, plugged in, it works great. I like the fact that it has a magazine push next to the EQ for 9V battery change in a flash.
The tuners are not too efficient and strings may go out of tune when heavy play. The harmonics are good with new strings but does not have that WOW sound of a more expensive guitar.

The guitar is very well made but I guess some crucial short cuts were made. 1st as I mentioned above, the fret board material feels like laminated fake wood. 2nd with the nice tone woods used, they could of installed real bone for the bridge and saddle instead of the plastic crap. as with the end pins. 3rd, Tuners (Gold) could have better acuracy.
It has a truss rod and that is great because with the thin neck, it does bow from time to time and adjusting the neck between installing strings makes the guitar more accurate and sing.

I have no problems with this guitar until strings sag. Because of teh price, I am not too concerned if it gets dinged - however, there have been close calls but this guitar can take some punishment and leave no markings.

I Guess SGC Company is out of Business and do not know if Allen has picked up the slack.

I have been playing for over 35 years. Jazz, fingerpicking, open sting arrangements. I own and play several handmade guitars and this jumbo is my all around whatever guitar. I try to find a luthier that will not laugh at me to replace the nut and bridge to bone-as with better end pins. I think it will do the guitar wonders.

Basic jumbo acoustic/electric. The electric pre-amp for this acoustic has a 3-band EQ (low, high, mids) a presence, volume, and bass boost. It even has a cool little pause/cutout switch that you can push between numbers so it doesn't pick up any unwanted noise. Mine has a natural finish, with a rosewood fretboard with a wierd (but cool) inlay design, and flametop. The body style is a cutway.

This guitar sounds beautiful. Nice full thick sound with clean highs. Comparable to a Epiphone cutway acoustic that I had at one time. I haven't changed the strings on it yet, but that needs to happen soon. I haven't played it through an amp yet (too much $$$), but I have heard it sounds much like a Gibson acoustic/electric (and the Epiphone I had). Nothing more I can say, but this is a nice sounding guitar.

Overall I like this guitar. I have wanted an acoustic, and I'm glad I got this one. It brings a different sound to my already expnading variety.
