One piece maple tele-style neck, walnut skunk stripe down the back. Vintage truss rod adjust at heel. 1" thick beefy C shaped back profile, 9.5" fretboard radius, curved nut slot, vintage style frets, nitrocellulose lacquer finish, drilled for vintage style tuners (Kluson style), no neck attachment holes. I give this a 10 because if you're looking for a vintage style neck with a very beefy feel, this is about as close as it gets.

Asking how a neck sounds is sort of silly, it's one component of a guitar. However, mine did have a dramatic impact on a telecaster project guitar I assembled. Previously I had bought a Warmoth Maple/rosewood tele neck with their standard profile. The guitar sounded okay with that neck, but I sold it because it was not beefy enough for my big hands. After installing the Allparts TMNF-Fat to the guitar, there was a noticeable difference in resonance and volume, both of which were greatly increased with the new neck. This improved the overall "thing" this guitar had going, therefore I give it a 10.

This neck came with none of the fine details that make a neck play great. There was lacquer on the frets, which was easy to remove. After installing the neck, there were some dead spots on the strings. I took it in for a full professional level and crown, which was expensive, but worth every penny. This neck has been straight and amazingly playable since then, no tweaking required. Normally these steps are performed at a factory during final assembly. Since this is a part, and I was the one to do the assembly, these details were left for me to do. The finish work and fret ends were flawless. Therefore overall I give this neck a 6 because of the additional labor involved in assembly.

I have played this neck live, and it's my favorite neck out of five guitars. Sadly, the guitar doesn't work well for me overall as a #1 for the band I play with so I don't get to play it as much as I would like. As beefy as it is, I wouldn't have to worry about the action going crazy at an especially hot gig like some tend to be here in the Southwest desert.

I have not dealt with Allparts directly. However, I might recommend you purchase it from an Allparts reseller rather than direct from allparts.com, as you'll save easily $50 or so.

The assembly issues are set aside in this 10 rating because those are a one time deal. Like I said before, this is my favorite neck out of five guitars. I have been playing for about 19 years, and have owned about 16 guitars. I absolutely love how beefy it is, and if you have large hands like me, give this neck a shot. It'll feel oversized at first but once you get accustomed to it, you'll wonder how you ever played those pencil thin necks most other guitars have. Necks I would compare this to include the Gibson Custom Shop reissue 1957 and 58 reissue Les Pauls and Warmoth Fatback necks.
Also, if you're like the previous reviewer, looking for a thick neck to shave down to your own custom profile, purchasing the nitro-finished TMNF-FAT is a waste of money. The same neck unfinished is the TMO-FAT, which costs around $60 less. If you're shaving down a neck's profile, you'll just have to finish it again anyway, might as well save a few bucks.

2006 Allparts TMNF-Fat Telecaster Replacement Neck made in Japan.
21 Medium Jumbo sized frets.
9.5" modern radius fretboard.
Beautifully done amber NITRO finish over very consistent straight-grained solid maple.
The biggest back shape that I have ever seen or felt on a guitar. This is not for someone who likes thin to medium neck sizes...It's Huge!
I rate it a 7 because it's really nice....but still just a neck.

I got the neck for an Esquire project that I wanted to complete. I love the old 50's style deep V necks. My plan was to get the neck and shave the backshape to that V shape. I got the neck mounted to the body and, once strung up, produced one of the loudest acoustic tones that I have ever heard from an electric guitar. The plugged in tone was great to match.

The neck is wonderfully made. The tuner holes were pre-drilled for vintage style tuners. I bought a set of the vintage style staggered klusons and they fit tightly into the slots. the nut slot was perfect. the Fender replacement nut blank that I used was a snug fit. The nitro finish was thick but well applied. There is a vintage looking tint to the neck wich gives it a cool vibe. In fact, the quality of the wood looks better than almost all of the recent American Fenders that I have seen.
Now, lets talk about the size of this neck. This is the hugest neck that I have ever felt. Upon receiving it I showed it to some friends who proceeded to laugh at how ridiculously enormous this thing is. The shape literally does not narrow from headstock to heel. I didn't mind the size due to my plans to reshape it anyway, however, If you are expecting to play it as-is, you better like them huge.
The fretwork was what you should expect from a neck that has never been mounted to a body. The frets were well seated and stable but needed some dressing and leveling in order to play correctly. This is completely normal.
As with any non-original manufacturer there may be some minor sanding/routing/shaping that needs to happen in order the mate the body and neck. I had to remove a small amount of material from the inside walls of the heel pocket of the Fender body to fit them together. Keep in mind that even though Allparts sells licensd parts, they may not be a perfect fit. If you are at all unsure how to do this give it to a tech to mate them. The fit between the neck and body is vital in having the intrument sound the best when complete.

This is great...
When I got the neck mounted to the body and finally strung up, I didn't have to touch the trussrod at all! The freakin' thing is so stable that it did not even move when I strung a set of .010 gauge onto it. And I have full movement either way on the rod to adjust for anything years to come.

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years. I have owned almost everything under the sun when it comes to instruments. I am also a admitted gear snob. I have very high standards and get rid of equipt that is not up to snuff. The quality of the necks coming from Allparts is fantastic. The guitar is now done and I could not be happier that I went this direction. I have had necks from Moses Graphite, WD, Warmoth, and have had experience with USA custom guitars necks, and this Allparts one is by far the best overall. I would recommend it to anyone, and definitly get an exact replacement if anything happened to this one.
