made in 1086 by yuari the master himself. straight acoustic guitar with matchtop spruce top......dreadnought design. case was a bit extra but made for the guitar

Sound : 10
easy action,,,the neck is a tiny bit small for big blunt fingers (like mine) but there was no trouble adapting to the keyboard at all. the sound was this side of bright with a beautiful harmonic ring...usually only found on guitars cousting much more.
the guitar seemed a bit spartin for the tone quality but why complain? ever see what willie nelson plays as his old favorite?

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The guitar (dy-48) won me over immediately. I had the money to buy a martin d18 or a guild d50 etc but the sound and action were what suprized me on this guitar. the harmonics rang out and hooked me. why pay more for what i wanted?

Reliability/Durability : 10
excellent workmanship. I've owned over 8 guitars over time and this is the best , by far. Fit and finish were excellent.

playing for 30 plus yrs. have owned a guild d35, a guild d-50 country, a martin student guitar, a pre cbs fender telecaster circa 58, and a fender esquire (all sold). the dumest loss i had was a fender broadcaster, the precurser to the telecaster (fender sued by gretsch due to name claim from drum line) guitar was a telecaster with broadcaster name....stolen unfortunately... owned 1963 gretch country gentleman.......for the money, the alverez is one good purchase. would buy one again in a heartbeat. too bad relatevly unknown here!

My 1985 Dy48 Kazuo Yairi ACOUSTIC axe is most excellent. It was hand-made By Kazuo in his shop in the mountains of japan.
It has Twenty frets and with mini dot markers and a stylized emblem at the twelfth.
The Solid back and Sides are i believe indian rose wood buttah; I ain't ezzackly sho'. the top is a solid piece of a tight grained hard wood.
the finish is excellent and has a few dings and some sweat damage where one would rest his arm.
The Bridge is ebony as is the Fret board over top of what appears to be indian rosewood neck.. this seems unusual as I always assumed necks to be very hard.

Tuners are stock A/Y tuners
This axe came with a case for FOUR HUNDRED SMACKIEs.
A fair price I believe and the MOST I've ever paid for a guitar electric or otherwise.

Sound : 10
I play classical and finger style blues and reggae/ska and this axe fits right in whatever one is playing.
This axe is non electric and has no pick up.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Set up was just about perfect although I may install a new bridge saddle to raise it a bump.
The only major flaw I found is SWEAT DAMAGE from arm placement.

Reliability/Durability : 10
this is my new best axe although a spare is goode to keep from wearing it out.
No strap buttons so this is a sitdown axe and I expect many years of reliable service from this handmade work of art.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I may send it to the factory to fix the sweat damage so we'll see.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing thirty plus years and own several asian guitars including a reissue HARMONY and a COUNTREFEIT thirty-year old sunburst Hummingbird.
I like everything about this axe except when folkes want to play it. I must say NO..
this guitars voice is unique and full and rich in tone.
I've had very fine german guitar which was the lesser when compared to my Yairi..
I will have to mic it at some point so I'll need a pick-up. .

Hand made by the master, I guess, Mr. Yairi

Sound : 10
It has amazing tone, you have to grab the $3,000 Martins to get this tone today. It is also unbelively loud. You have to have a light touch or you will drown out your jamm'n buddies. This is a great sounding guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
Action is it's only (and slightly) only downside. My b-in-law has an older 00 Martin that has much better action. But look what I am comparing too.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Built like a brick, been smashed, dropped, gigged, and has a few small battle wounds, which just give it the proverbial "character". Very good finish, and it cleans up very well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never used it

Overall Rating : 10
It's a comletely "kick ass" guitar, and I would never part with it, other than to give it to my son. I have a few other guitars, a really nice older Gibson Les Paul custom, that I inherited from a old band member, (and dearest friend) who went to see his Lord a couple years back.. I would never part with that guitar, ever. I also have a great G&L electric Legacy special, that definately kicks ass over the newer Fenders, even the custom shop honeys.
