Very srtiking back and sides, great tone from the cedar top, and unique rounded tortoise pick guard. Came with abalone dots on the pegs, too.
Simple neck with diagonal abalone on the 12th fret. Nice gloss finish. No pickup. Tuners are nickel silver and hold solid tuning.

Sound : 10
It really shines here- good volume, rich tone and perfect intonation. A standard bridge instead of the Yairi compound one. Low action, no buzzes.
The darkness of Jacaranda blended with mellowness of cedar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Perfect all around.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It's got a few dings since cedar is a softer wood, but so far no structural problems from endless campouts, playing at home and gigging.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A. But when you phone or email their American distributer, they are very supportive.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
This guitar is a sleepr, a classic people don't generally know about. They turn up on eBay a lot. Get one!

The DY50N is the Wind River Jacaranda dread, first came out in 1991~ with a Mfgrs of $1,000~ It has a solid North American Cedar top, with a Jacaranda body (laminated).Rosewood fretboard has unusual diamond shaped inlays. Rosewood bridge: the Whale Tail type.... Mahogany neck, Abalone rosette, and tortoise pickguard, gold tuners, natural finish..1991 to 1995.

I have been playing for almost 20 years. I had several guitars Larrivees, taylors, martins and old yamahas etc.

if it were stolne, i will be very sad..cause it's discontinued. so i keep it at home..:)

love the sound of cedar top with jacaranda back & side.
