Great action! Mellow amber ceadar top; bracing is excellent as is bridge.

Playable in any weather and venue: stays tuned when stored for transport in thermoplastic case. Would use with a mike in any gig that is folk, flat picking, and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young rythmn, using either light or medium gauge strings; best with light strings if used as a rythmn instrument; if used for flat picking or pucking, use mediums; may not be suitable if one desires a Martin-like woody sound--buy a Martin D series, as Yairi copied the concept but created his own unique sound.

This guitar has been cared for and well maintained: bridge glued back on with no warping there; truss has never needed adjustment.

This guitar has been played intermittently for 26 years in home, church, and ocassionally in concerts. Guitar lovers say she is a sweet sounding lady that seemingly has mellowed with the years. I feel the same.

it's just an acoustic guitar, what features?
made in japan, signed by Mr. Yairi, purchased new in 1988. at the time, i thought in a few years i'd replace it with a nicer Guild...who would have thought?

the sound is nicely balanced...however, the low end could use some more oomph at times when playing live and sometimes when recording. it has the balance of a Martin, but a totally different tone... if i need some low-end i'll pull out a Gibson...
but many times it has the perfect tone.

great action from my perspective, but then again, i don't prefer guitars that play like a knife through warm butter...i prefer as little more effort...that said, it plays well in a range of styles, even slide...well-balanced for different styles of play...over the years, the action has remained almost perfect, but i'm starting to develop a little buzz on the 4th through 8th frets on the first string...

this pack-donkey has been played everywhere in all kinds of conditions, rain(?!), hot outdoor sun, nightly gigging, it's been handled by good and sucky players alike, beer spilled on it and in it, dropped again and again and again...i don't baby it, still sounds better than ever, still feels unbreakable...there is absolutely no pulling up on the bridge, the tuners are still solid, and i don't maintain it other than using some Old English furniture polish on it...apart from some scratches and dings it still looks beautiful...i've had a couple other acoustics for about as long that have been through a lot less, and are in a lot worse shape.

i've had more expensive and far cheaper acoustics than this, but this is my hands-down favorite - i will never sell this thing...anybody who can get their hands on one should.

This guitar was made in 1988. I'm not sure where it was made since I bought it from a pawn shop and no information came with it. It has a standard 20 frets. There are no electronics on this guitar. It is a solid top with laminate rosewood back and sides. I don't know what the top is made of, although I think it is maple. It is the standard dreadnought size with a transparent finish. It has a very thin neck with not a lot of room for your fingers. I wouldn't recommend it for soloing although it is good for basic playing.

When I first picked up this guitar in the pawn shop I was amazed at the sound it had compared to the other guitars I had looked at. The sound is really what sold me on this guitar. It has great high end as well as low end sound. The bass notes ring out but don't overpower the higher notes. A chord strummed on this guitar has a strong degree of balance, and they ring forever! I have never seen a guitar for this price with such great resonant qualities.

This guitar does have a few problems, but I assume that is because I bought it very used. The neck is slightly warped but tends to stay straight if I keep the guitar humidified. THe bridge has been raised since it was built so I really can't say whether it was properly built. The finish is nice. It is a thin finish but I love that because it makes the guitar resonate a whole lot better.

So far this guitar has stood up to anything I've been able to dish out. IT was pretty dinged up when I first got it, but you can't tell unless you look close. I've taken good care of it but I havn't babied it like I would a more expensive guitar. I play it pretty hard and the only reason I wouldn't play it live is because it doesn't have any electronics. It stays in tune amazingly well and I only have to make minor adjustments even after not playing it for a few days. You can tell that this guitar has been through a lot but it has held up very well. It is a very sturdy, well built guitar.

I havn't dealt with the company personally but I've heard they're not the best.

This is a good all-round guitar that is a joy to play. It sounds great and holds up well. IT projects very well also. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who loves to just sit around and play (if you can find one, I've heard they are pretty rare).
