This guitar has a lot of really nice, detailed features on it. the binding on the body of the guitar is a separate piece of finely chosen wood. Accents the body beautifully. The headstock is very unique and attractive. The solid back, sides, and top make it a very good guitar for the money.

Sound : 7
The dy-67's sound is good. It's not great. There are no dominant highs or lows. When you dig in with your pick, it really sounds off however. This is a very loud guitar. This doesn't suit my style so well as I often use a flatpick in combination with my fingers. The volume level is too disparate. Overall, for a strumming guitar its got great sound. If you like fingerstyle jazz, or fingerpicking, I wouldn't recommend it.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This guitar has a very unique look to it. The wood is dark and very nice looking. The action is great. I've owned a lot of alvarez's and Yairi's and they have always been stellar when it comes to action, stability, and comfort. This guitar is the 2nd best alvarez I've owned, but is #1 in looks.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is extremely reliable. It always stays in tune. The construction is rock solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
If you want a loud strumming guitar for gigging, singing, or the like, this is the perfect guitar. If you're looking to record, or do something requiring a distinct sound, try an Alvarez 5044, or a dy-61

Japanes made dreadnought, solid top back and sides, satin finish, ebony fretboard, gold tuners, nice looking headstock.

Sound : 9
It's a very nice sound. Not the fullest in the world, but clean and clear and resonant and colorful. It doesn't have the single string definition of a Taylor, nor does it have the chocolate richness of a Martin. But for what you pay for these when you find them used, it really makes it a deal.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action on A-Ys are superb. Just terrific. They play like well set up Strats. Yet to find acoustics that play better. Even Martins or Taylors.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Have you seen Ani Difranco abuse these things? An AY can take any abuse.

Once worked for a store that dealt them. They're good people.

Love it love it love it. For the money it's a gigging guitar that can't be beat. If you're looking to get bang for the buck take a good hard look at a used Yairi. I had a Taylor that I was too afraid to play. I like to be able to strum and drum and dig in. I sold it and turned it into this guitar, a Sansamp acoustic unit, a Realistic/Moog Synth and a nice chunk of change to boot. I win. This guitar plugged in sounds as good if not better than the Taylor.
