The most wonderful stage guitar ever I have 2 , one with fishmans and one with K&k mike and transducer system , They play and sound great with there own individule charicter . One has a lower softer faster action and the the other is firmer but still very light. There sound is slightly differnt as one seem to me have been played more . I string then with extra lights on the 12 and custom lights on the 6 . because i play long sets 4 hrs and mostly there my pa system thru a fishman aura . This combo is just awsome for, any style music i play which is an electic mix 0f 60 s, 70 s, jazz, blues.

Acousticly its the most resonant giutar you'll ever pick the extra set of string fill every chord. not one empty spot in the whole range. with the onboard electronics its amazing . nothing i can't do with it.

you know dreadnaught comes from a classs of battleships . this thing is built like one . but not so that it detracts from it s overall visaul appeal . i have a martin d12 12 1970 and this guitar is built as well or better.

the only problen i had with my second one was that it was sent in the keyhole case via usps and when i opened the case it had been droped on the tail block pushing it in. I was horrified the send did'nt pad it on that end at all. I was a 60.00 fix from my fav guitar repair shop and you can't tell it was repaird. my other came in the big later model case so when i travel thats the one i use.

i own somenice 12 strings and 6 strings Great looking great playing with all the features that both of my yaris have but for gigs i take my dy 87s. as a solo player they fill all my needs and i'm afraid to use them because they make me happy when i wrap myself around them.i paid fair prices for both and there both in great condition if i get rid of all my other guitars i know i won't miss them

Great bottom end and crystal clear treble. I have a million miles on mine (bought new in 81)and played 10,000 gigs with it and it still gets me compliments on it's sound.

Like I said I have played 10,000 gigs with this thing and it plays great. Installed Fishmans under each saddle and there's nothing like it. I have however had the bridge problem with mine but I sent it back to St. Louis and they took care of it....FREE!

St. Louis repaired the bridge FREE in 1999. Still holding up. This guitar has been through it all. Customer support is second to none.

My guitar was made in 1982 just bought it used in 2005 for what I would consider a steal. These Japanese acoustic guitars have two necks: 12 on top and 6 below with a 17 inch jumbo body. Same body as a Gibson J-200. Solid spruce tops and laminated mahongany sides and back. Solid mahongany necks and ebony fingerboards and bridge, with nice snowflake shell markers. This is a straight acoustic guitar made before everything had to have electronics. Crome tuners, high polished finish and came with a very substantial and large case.

This is probably one of the best sounding acoustics I have played. It just booms and projects. That is with either the six or the twelve. The bass is amazing and the tremble is very balanced. The tone and overtones just are so pleasent. Just a warm booming sound. This is the guitar I would take if I have to fill a room acoustically.

I am looking at this guitar 23 years after manufacture and it still looks amazing. That is a tribute to how well it was built. Necks are still straight as an arrow. No real finish flaws that were not put there by the last 20 years. Yairi makes a very solid intrument.

What more can I say after 22 years and it still looks like it came from a showroom except for the few dings and scratch from those years. I think it is good for another 22 at least. This model does have a history of bridge problems given the tention of 18 strings. Mine had the bridge reglued. I have heard of others with the bridge cracking. This is really the only issue with this instrument. Any repair of this one weakspot will be forth it.

I have seen this model many times before and I have always been fasinated with acoustic doublenecks. Just not that many made. These were only made in the early 80's. I have the Ovation Celebrity doubleneck, the Yairi is a much better made and a far superior acoustic intrument. This one I will treasure. The sound is just wonderful. Doublenecks just give you so many possibilities. This guitar has found a permanent home. If I lost it I would try to find another but it took me three years to find this one and I would have a hard time replacing it at double the price I paid.

1981 Dreadnaught Doubleneck acoustic, handmade in Japan. 12 string top, 6 string bottom. Solid Canadian spruce top, mahogany sides, back and necks, ebony fret boards. Shared oval soundhole, double ebony bridge.

At home with blues and folk, rock and jazz, even classical. Flat picking, crosspicking, whatever. Deep rich sound, especially with the passive drone of the extra set of strings. True up and down both necks.

Fit and finish is as fine as i've seen. She's gotten a little wear over the last 20 years we've been together (finish scratches, a couple minor dings), but then again, so have I. Very low smooth action with no buzz.

Over the last twenty years she's had no problems and looks as fit an when she came over from Japan. I know she'll do another 20 with nothing but changes of strings. She'll outlive me!

I've been playing 30 years. I've got a 30 year old classical, and a 24 year old Takamine 12 string. I love to play the classical and the Takamine sits in her hard shell case in the closet. But, the doubleneck is always the first I pick up and the last I put down. I don't know what I'd do with out her.....
