This is an Antonio Aparicio AA20 classical guitar made in Spain. I bought it in May 2005 at Luthier Music Corp. in New York for $400 including a backpack-style soft case. It has a cedar top, rosewood fingerboard and mahogany sides. It's a great buy compared to the $649 price listed on some discount Web sites. It is one, large step up from the AA10, which costs just $50 less. The AA30, with rosewood sides, costs an added $100 but is not worth the premium considering the nearly undiscernible improvement in sound.

Sound : 9
It has a rich, warm sound that you would find in a much more expensive guitar.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The guitar is well-made. It lacks the ``dots'' indicating where notes are on the fretboard but I seem to be doing well without it and can alway apply small dabs of Whiteout if I change my mind. The action on the upper fretboard is a tad high but the store said they can adjust it.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion

I just returned to the classic guitar after leaving one in the closet for about 10 years. My other guitar is an Alvarez-Yairi CY30 bought in 1978 for about $700. The Aparacio has a stronger sound, while the Alvarez has the warmth that comes with age.
Overall I would give this guitar an 8 compared with the perfect instrument and a 10 after factoring in its value. That all said, I'll give it a 9.
