Set neck construction with heel-less design, rosewood fingerboard, maple top on mahogany body. Chrome hardware, dual sound switches, sealed (Gotoh?) tuners, built at Japan's Matsumoku factory in 1985. Two zebra humbuckers, basic Les Paul configuration with stock coil tap mini toggle switches. 22 frets, passive electronics, top loading stop tailpiece with tune-o-matic style bridge. Original rectangular case, well built and well padded.

Played it through a Hiwatt Dr-103, Fender Tonemaster, and a Bedrock AC-30 clone. Nice sounding guitar, well shielded at the factory and very quiet. Sounds like a Les Paul, but I actually like the neck and overall feel a bit better than my three Gibson LPs. Neck pickup is very bassy, the jury's still out on that one, otherwise all else is great.

This is Japan at it's finest. Over the top build quality from the factory that produced the original Ibanez Artists, Iceman, etc, and this was a shot at doing something stylish and original with the Les Paul concept. Typical chrome pitting you see on the late 70's Ibanez guitars, otherwise a flawless instrument with great attention to detail.

Very solid and after 22 years it still looks very much like it did when it left the factory. Nice stock oversized strap buttons, no need to replace. No worries about using this without backup.

I've been playing for 30 years and have a collection that fluxuates between 70-100 guitars and a few amps as well. I'd always wanted one of these as they attracted some really interesting endorsees back when they built them. Love the neck, body styling, and heel-less feature feels great.

purchased from e/bay, japanese made, it has 22 frets mahagony top , mahogany back and neck, rosewood fret board, this one is equiped with a schaler roller bridge, les paul style but not a les paul feel,a lot lighter, this guitar has a nice contoured back and in my opinion will blow a gibson away, the action is incredible, it sustains forever!!! what more can i say.

this guitar absolutely sounds great with the stock pickups, i own another with a duncan distortion in the bridge, and a duncan '59 in the neck, it screams!!! nice raw distortion from the bridge, and a nice warm tone from the neck pickup. no noises or hums, i'm really not that great of a player, (a bedroom player i guess) but my nephew is an awesome guitarist he absolutely loves it. i play thru a small marshall and it smokes. when my nephew plays it he runs thru a marshall head 4/12 cabinet, digitech processor, it has coil taps and a phase switch which gives you an incredible variety of tones, thru his system it sounds incredible!!!!!!!!! nothing to dislike about this beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been playing on and off for about ten years, i really am not that good but i know a great guitar when i put one in my hand. i love everything about this guitar, and i really can't compare it to any other it has a feel and sound all its own, but if i had to i would say a les paul but oh so much better, especially for the price. i will eventually put a set of duncans or emg's but it suits me just fine as it is. these aria proII's are incredibly high quality guitars, they are hard to find but if you come across one check it out you will not be dissapointed, and if you own one of these other high end $$$$$ jobs you will probably get sick to your stomach, knowing what you could have had!!!

I bought mine in 1983. It is made in Japan. 22 frets, H/H with a three-way selector and two switches to split each one. Speed knobs and switches all slightly recessed. Body style could be described as a "contoured" Les Paul. Very comfortable guitar. Tun-o-matic bridge with stop bar tailpiece. Heel on neck contoured into body. Set neck.

Lot's of variety in tone from a two-pickup guitar. The combinations of the two pickups with the option to split one or both are seemingly endless. You can also play with the tone a lot by effecting the balance by raising and lowering each pick-up to work your tone. Overall a very smooth, warm tone, but with the bridge pick-up split to a single, through a good amp, you get a good punchy, bright sound.

I have had this guitar 17 years and have never done anything to it except adjust the pick-up height and change the strings. Action is awesome. Nice and low, easy to play and stays in tune. I need to have it re-fretted.

Only issue is the 1/4" jack. Gets loose at times. Strap buttons are very solid. And larger than normal. Finish is good. Chrome has bubbled on the bridge, but I sweat acid, so that is somewhat expected.

I bought this guitar after looking at (and drooling over) Les Pauls for years. I finally had saved enough money to make the big purchase and went into a music store in Nashville, TN to look. I figured in Gibson's back yard, they should have a good selection. They had several other Gibsons (V's, Explorers, the old horible Vicories-ugh) but no LP's. I asked why and the salesman told me that they had a hard time selling LP's next to this guitar. I played it and fell in love. At the time, Neal Schon (Journey) was playing a PE-80 frequently, so that tended to lend some creedence to the company. I mulled it over and talked a local store into stocking them. The guitar is awesom. I have never found one I like better. It's not the prettiest guitar I have ever seen. Basic tobacco sunburst with a light wood grain visible behind the finish. I'll never sell it and would love to find another one.
