This is an Aria Elecord FE-60. I bought it in 1984 adn have owned and used it continually ever since. I think it was made in 1982-83. I paid about 300 pounds sterling for it. Mahogany back and sides, spruce top (I think). One volume pot, one tone pot. It's all original, I believe. Back is arched. Neck is a little on the wide side. Guitar overall is about halfway between a lap guitar and a dreadnought in terms of size and feel.
Sound

Played acoustically, the guitar sounds extremely good, and always has (I have owned and played it for more than 20 years). The electronics stopped working about 15 years ago and since the guitar never sounded anywhere near as good plugged in I have never bothered fixing them. Miked up, however, the sound is beautiful. Very thick, rich, and more Martin-woody than Taylor-pingy, which suits me fine. The neck is a little wider than I like, but not excessively so. It plays well, staqys in tune, and as I already said, has a superior tone.
Action, Fit, & Finish
:7
Guitar was used when I bought it, but well enough set up. Action is not especially low, but low enough. It takes a little effort to play -- compared with a new Taylor, for example. There are no obvious flaws on the guitar, though over the years I have had it a crack has appeared on the spruce top, running all the way from the neck to the back of the guitar. The electronics packed up 15 years ago, and were never all that impressive.
Reliability/Durability

Fairly durable. As I say, the guitar has a crack running the entire length of the top. But this does not seem to affect the sound and has been stable for at least 10 years. I ought to get it fixed, I guess. Strap buttons are solid, tuners are great. Mostly a very solid guitar.

Been playing 35 years. My only other acoustic is a Martin 000 series, which is my main live guitar. I use the Aria a lot for recording and at home, but rarely on gigs, since it's electronics are broken and in any case I prefer the thinner neck on the Martin. If it were lost or stolen I doubt I'd be able to find another like it, though I would miss it.

This guitar sounds really good. But the sound doesn't make up for all of the other problems that I had with the guitar.

This is where this instrument suffers. The first thing I noticed about this guitar is that the binding looks like crap. Also the binding around the soundhole was frayed where it comes up against the neck and there wasn't any laquer on the body at the base of the neck. The next problem was the nut, it was actually warped so there was a 1/16" gap between the nut and the fretboard at the low E string and then it was flush from the G to the high E string. It also had a gouge out of the fretboard around the 5th fret. And last but not least the action was pretty high. I bought this new and I expected more from a new guitar. I ended up sending this thing back right away and bought an Ibanez for $30 more and was much happier with that guitar.
This was a pity because the guitar really did sound pretty good.

I can't give this guitar a very high overall rating. The reasons are obvious. It may be that I just got a lemon but I'm not sure I'll ever know because Aria doesn't have any local distributors around here for me to try another one out and I'll definitely never purchase anything else from Aria sight unseen.

This is an electro-acoustic guitar and it sounds great both acoustic end electrified. When acoustic it has got a wonderful bright tone, and electrified is simply Great, both rich and bright tone. Has got a simply but useful eq, called AEQ-401R, presence-treb-mid-bass-volume, all very effective; batt check button too.
I use it through a Gem digital piano, which is also a (poor) ampli. A few weeks ago my father built for me a new ampli, using old Galactron Mk120 (a sort of stereo ampli) with an Augusta loudspeaker, and this "home-built-ampli" is the best I ever tried, a great mid-bass tone, better than other Marshall or Ibanez expensive acoustic ampli.
My effect little effect chain (Nobels overdrive special > Zoom 505II) isn't made for this guitar, because I play some punk-ska-alternative rock stuff, and I don't use it as an electric guitar, but I can say that some effects of the Zoom (phaser flanger pitch delay reverb, no chorus coz it's shitty) are very good with this. I'm going to buy a Mexican Tele to use heavier distortions etc, but this Aria is incredibly great with light overdive or distortion.
To play some acoustic stuff (I play mostly Radiohead alone but punk-ska with my band) it's great (The Perfection in songs like True Love Waits or Exit Music or Paranoid Android). Works very well also with effects.

When I bought it I paid less because it was in exposition, but it was well otherwise

The eq will last, it seem very well built. But for the guitar, it's acoustic, you must pay attention (not like my band's second guitarist-I'm the first-).

Great great great. I'm playng since I was 10 (I'm 15), I have played a lot of different music with this guitar, and it fits very well in everything. If this were stolen.....sigh.......sigh........ I don't know what I will do, these guitar are not so commons! So, if you are interested to buy an electro-acoustic guitar or simply an acoustic guitar, and you have the luck to find this baby, BUY IT, you will thank me.

I recently bought a red Aria Elecord and must admit, though it is not the colour I would normally go for, it plays and sounds brilliant both acoustically and plugged in.

I think it suits my music style fine because it also has an amazingly
low action. Therefore I can use it as a lead guitar and every other form of playing, even possibly a bass.

no
prob something else, because there are no shops near me that sell it. Also I bought it privately off someone else
I love the playability, but wish it was coloured with natural wood colour
I didn't choose it, it was shown to me by a friend who had it in theeir possesion
I like the Fishman pickups, but the sliders scratch on my arms sometimes.

Its an electro acoustic, very nice birdseye maple top in sunburst, fishman piezos, abalone binding. its a single cutaway, vintage tuners.

I play a lot of indie stuff and led zeppelin. Its got a nice tone , with a lot of low end, slighlty lacking in the top end but its got a good rythym sound. I really like the tone of this guitar, very rich and mellow.

This action is quite high on this, but thats probably cos im used to using electrics. The finish is perfect and the tuners stay in tune very well.

I already gigged with this guitar ( acoustic set) and it worked fine, the finish doesn't chip easily and It feels pretty solid.

I've been playing for three years now and I also own a Schecter C-1, Squier Strat, Rocktron r80 amp, a few pedals aswell. If it were stolen, I would buy another, I really like the looks and the rich tone. I compared it with a yamaha and this was so much better. Buy it
