I'm guessing this guitar was made in 2000 or 2001 - in Korea. A nice Les Paul copy with set neck. 21 frets, 2 PAF-style Humbuckers. Same features as have been covered in other reviews here. I like it a lot because it's not a shoulder breaker and it has a surprisingly good sound for a cheap copy.
Came with a cheap gig bag.

Sound : 9
I play a lot of different styles from country to oldies to heavier stuff. I currently have a Peavey Pacer and an Ibanez flanger. I can get a nice warm sound from the neck pickup or the middle position and I can make it scream with a little Overdrive on the amp. I'm very pleased with the amount of sustain I can get from this semi hollow body. What I really like is the Leslie sound when I kick in the flanger - Yee Ha! Joe Walsh rides again!!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
This guitar came straight from gman music perfectly set up. Nice low action with no fret buzz whatsoever. I cannot find any imperfections in the finish - unlike other cheap clones I've bought.

Reliability/Durability : 8
I would use this guitar for gigs without hesitation. I would have a backup with any guitar I brought to a gig. It feels nice & solid. I haven't had it long enough to say for sure how it would hold up.

Customer Support : 9
Don't know about Aslin Dane, but I'll give gman music a 9!

Overall Rating : 10
I'm a drummer but I like to play anything I can get my hands on (violin, accordian, keyboards) and I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years. I currently have a Yamaha APX-8 elec./acoustic, a Jay Turser Tele-clone (junk), and this guitar. In the past I've owned a Gibson Les Paul Special (VERY SWEET), a Univox LP copy, Mosrites, Hagstroms, Fenders - you name it. My brother has a Mexican Strat & a friend has an Epi LP - this blows them both away! If it was stolen, I would first find the cretin and bash his head in, then look up the gman and buy another.

This a new Aslin Dane Les Paul style guitar. It is made of bass wood, with a maple top, the neck is maple, with a superphenol finger board. Tuners are non-brand die cast like gotoh, jumbo frets, slim taper neck. Pickups are nock-off Gibsons. I got a hard shell TKL professional arch-top case with it. The finish is gloss tobaco sunburst. Nice guitar as good as the Epiphone's I have looked at. This guitar has everything that a Gibson studio has.

Sound : 10
The pickups are as loud as the Gibson 490 I have, but sound more mellow. Great many possible sounds playing with the two position switch, dual tone and dual volume controls.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The action was set too low, at 2/64's! I turned the bridge up a few turns to get it to 4/64's. The only flaws was a small nick on the headstock edge, and some minor scratches by the tone control.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Solid guitar I gig with every week.

Customer Support : 10
I have called the Company and the owner David Burns was very helpful and answered all my questions at www.aslindane.com.

Overall Rating : 10
I own mostly acoustic guitars,Taylor,Larrivee,Martin, old Guild electric. I play at a local church, mostly Vineyard music. I do have a Digitech RP-2000 pedal which the Aslin Dane sounds great with! The Gibson studio was $900, I feel this guitar is gust as good for me.

I would assume it's a recent '00 or '01 model, made in Korea, of course. On the outside it looks 99% like your average Les Paul copy, only real asthetic diffrence is that the upper contours of the body are a bit more flowing. Same setup as a Paul, 2 PAF style hummers, 4 control knobs, stop bar n' tune-o-matic, what were you expecting? :-D That's where the similarities end as far as construction goes, however. Structurally this thing is the direct oposite of a Les Paul. It's made of basswood and on this particular model the body is 'chambered' to give it more resonance, this also drastically decreases the weight of the guitar. The neck is maple, and is set with a very nice smoothed-out heel joint. Fretboard is a bit diffrent, it's made of some kind of polymer composite that looks as if it is laquer-finished, very nice and smooth and seems to have great tone qualities. Whereas a classic Les Paul is a big, heavy, unruly block of mohogany, this thing is a very sleek, lightweight instrument, diffrent, and yet still serving it's purpose, I like it, I like it alot. I give it a 10 simply because A.) it copies a LP well, and B.) the fingerboard composite and chambered body are both very unique design characteristics.

Sound : 9
My style is whatever, so I guess it fits :-D I use it with a variety of equipment, mostly solid-state amps and various effects. In my setup it IS a bit noisy with heavy distortion, this may just be my gear or perhaps a wiring defect in my guitar itself, it doesn't seem overly obnoxious though. One thing that grabbed me imediately was the clarity of the pickups, you can actually hear all the notes ring out very well even under heavy distortion. The clean sound of this instrument is outstanding, the neck position sounds extremely full-bodied without getting muddy at all. I disagree with the other review, I think you could use this guitar for a fairly wide range of styles. The sound under distortion is nice and thick pickups seem to crunch pretty well, so all is right with the world! I'm gona give it a 9 for the feedback thing, but the clarity of the "cheap korean stock pickups" is outstanding.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
Everything looks good to me, the action is comfortable, everything is where it should be, finish is... black... there's a little smear of something (glue probably) near the side of the neck joint, nothing major or even all that noticible. Good finish, everything's put together well, action and inotation are both set right, so all is well with the world! 9 simply cuz I dunno if that flaw is a true indication of workmanship on AD's part, or if that's why I got the guitar so cheap :-D

Reliability/Durability : 9
It seems solid enough, but with a chambered basswood body i definitly wouldn't use it as a whacking stick. I don't think it's gona fall appart due to normal playing, just don't abuse it overly much. The hardware is average Korean stock, but the tune-o-matic seems a bit higher-grade and is very easy to adjust (the saddle screws). It might feel a bit fragile to some peole, I think, but it seems good. 9 as an instrument, 3 as a beating club, heh.

Customer Support : 10
I don't know about warranties but I have e-mailed AD a number of times with various little questions and each time, within 24 hours, the VP himself responded to my letters and not only answered the questions but gave additional info on related issues and seemed more than happy to help with any concerns i might have with the guitar, this is how it SHOULD be, A+

Overall Rating : 10
Well, I have to go to work LOL, so all I can say here is that it's a great guitar, especially for the price. It's a bit diffrent, but still serves it's purpose and does so well. Not only that, but it comes from a very well-run company. I'd definitly buy another one of these, or another Aslin Dane in general, great guitar.

Made 2001 (I guess). Made in Korea (A little sticker on the back of the headstock sez so...). 21 Frets. 2 volumes, 2 tone, like a Les Paul. 2 Humbuckers. Passive electronics. Maple neck not sure about the body. Tune-o-matic bridge. Non-locking die cast tuners, a little cheap. This guitar is a very close Les Paul clone. See www.aslindane.com.

Sound : 7
I play in a copy band. A living juke box. We play 60+ songs and cover a lot of styles. This guitar does well. I use it with a Peavey VTX 140 Watt head running through two 80Watt Celestions (M type I think). The guitar sounds good. It is not VERY versatile but neither is a Les Paul.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 7
I bought the guitar through E-Bay. I have another Aslin Dane P-Bass copy and I love it. I decided to try a guitar and got this one for less than $150. Including shipping. For that price it is a steal. Hell, it is a good value for three times the price. The guitar came out of the box very well set up. I still need to tweak it but it is definitly playable as is. I have found no OBVIOUS flaws with it yet.

Reliability/Durability : 7
I have gigged with it and it is very solid. I have the chambered out version (like a psuedo-semi-hollow) and it is very light but does not feedback. Neat!! Does not break my back after three hours of playing. The hardware is a little cheap but they had to cut corners somewhere. Strap buttons are solid. I generally would not gig without my trusty Godin SD as a backup (or vice-versa) but if I had to I would use this guitar (if only for the fact I paid so little for it and if were busted up or stolen it wouldn't be such a financial hit).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to yet.

Overall Rating : 8
I've been playing for 26 years (God I'm old). I own Godins and Yamahas. I can't afford 'real' Fenders or Gibsons anymore. Besides I like offbrand guitars, they have more to prove and I don't feel like I'm tempting fate by using them. I would by another one without hesitation if it were stolen. I love the fact that it is so nice looking and so light. There is nothing about it I hate. I wish the hardware was more beefy but it works (so far). I think Aslin Dane makes a pretty damn good guitar. I recommend it to anyone who wants a good solid first guitar or is tired of spending $500 to $1000 for instruments that have been made by companies who have been resting on their laurels for too long (I'll get off my soapbox now).
