Aslin Dane AST3Q
Canadian Rock Maple Neck, basswood body, Sunburst finish, quilt top (veneer), graphite nut, three singly coil pickups, one volume, two tones, twin pivot tremolo, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
The body is more contoured that your standard strat-style guitar, making it very comfortable to play.

To be honest, I bought this to be a backup guitar, and now it's my main instrument. You can get great standard "strat" tones, as well as some great mellow sounds. I've used this in rock, funk, and jazz gigs and have always been happy with my tone in each style.

Played very well out of the box. I got it set up the way I like it, and threw on a set of heavier strings, and it feels like home.
The top looks greay, and the finish looks extremely classy. This is, without a doubt the nicest looking and feeling guitar in this price range.

I've used live and in the studio, and I have no qualms using it without bringing a backup instrument.

I e-mailed the company with some questions before buying the instrument. The tech guy went above and beyond to answer all my questions (and believe me, I had alot).

If this guitar were stolen, I'd replace it in a heartbeat. I used to think that all guitars made in China or Korea were of lesser quality-- not so. Is it a $2000 custom guitar? No. Is it a great playing and great sounding guitar for an amazing price? You bet.

i've been playing gtr for 51 yrs, i've had them all, this aslin dane thing is a real piece of crap. My sister bought this gtr for her boy friend, Jim Moran.
this guitar is crap ! its Korean CRAP!. Composite neck is way to heavy
pickups sound harsh and brittle. body finish is loaded with "orange peel"... I guess this would be a good beginers gtr.

Sound quality is not very good. Gtr Pickups are Crap. Gtr sounds weak and transparent. Neck feels all wrong. Just not a good playing gtr.

Korean-made
Composite fretboard is really hard, so those powerful tones come through quite nicely.
I liked the gig bag that came with it.
Sound
:

I like the fact that it is somewhat noisy in 1-3-5 but quiet in 2-4.
It gives me just the right amount of distortion w/o too much.
It has a really rich sound that goes good with any blues licks.

The action was just fine for me as an intermediate player, with room to find the really sweet spot.
The nut was a little rough around the edges, could have been filed neater.
The tuners were also a little loose.
The neck seems to be loose also, I think I'll have that looked at.

I play very rough, and this guitar can definately handle the stress.
My only concern is with the loose neck.

I am happy with it's playability and would gladly recommend it to any beginning-intermediate player.
I was playing a Mexican Fender Strat, and this guitar killed it. It was much better built.
If I were buying another one, I would get it w/o the tremolo bridge.

3 single coil custom wound pickups (pretty quite in 2 and 4 position)
but noisy in 1-3-5, replaced with Fender noiseless)
Canadian Maple neck, The Fingerboard Super Phenol Composite (really like it guitar plays really well)
Bass wood body, great for strat (bright)
Made in China

3 single coil Pickups were nice, noise free in some positions
but noisy in others, pickups replaced, combination of basswood and
fingerboard, really bright clean tone....guitar should have been shielded...as with all strats the shielding makes a huge difference
in reduction of 60 cycle hum.......

Guitar shines in this category, had it (action) really low no problems....Tech took it back up a little and it feels good there also,
Finish is beautiful, natural honey strat (really turns heads)
no flaws

a quality instrument for the price. It stays in tune, Once adjusted
I am very encouraged that these type of quality guitars are available
without having pay a fortune, best features fretboard, neck, finish
action, only area which could be improved would be the pickups, but to be honest for the money i can't complain; one recommendation to all strat manufactures, offer factory shielding as a standard....
great guitar overall, very happy after making the pickup changes and shielding work, guitar is really quiet and able to get all the traditional fender quacky sounds plus some very warm humbucker like tones...

Korean built standard strat copy. The usual features: three single coils (they also have one with a humbucker in the bridge position, but at this price, an extra $50 is a huge increase!), five way selector, tremolo bridge, etc. Maple one piece neck with synthetic fingerboard. Comes with a useless 9 foot cable.

I was trying to figure out where they skimped to keep this thing so cheap, and it wasn't on electronics: this thing sounds great, very very clean!

Basically good looking, well constructed and basic. The guitar shop sets up and restrings everything before they sell it, so I can't vouche for how it plays right out of the factory.

After about six months, I am starting to notice that this guitar is a bit disposable. Neck and truss rod problems almost from the beginning -- the truss rod comes loose easily, I am constantly discovering a new rattle in the neck. But no problems with anything else, so I'm beginning to think I picked up a lemon.

I am a terrible, terrible guitarist but a serious musician with high standards. This was a fine choice for me as something to bang around on while I figure out how I really want to sound. With a better neck, I don't think I'd have any complaints at all. And it sounds so much better than other cheapo copies I've played! Great for a beginner, fine as a backup axe. One correction to the 335 review I just read: the guys at the shop told me Aslin and Dane are Canadians who have just started out in the business, and they suggested that they haven't yet learned how much they ought to be charging. It's a great steal at this price.
