I got this guitar from my dad and he bought it in 1976 brand new he said it was about $800 and it has an ebony fret board and solid spruce top with mahagany sides and back. i don't know anything about the company other than they reproduced martins basically. it is a 12 string and it has mother of pearl inlays on the head stock.

Sound : 10
well it is very well used and taken care of so it is broken in and sounds good for everything i have played so far. i play alot of country and it is so good with that. it is a bright and kinda deep sound and in fact my dad now plays a martin hd-28 and his friend when he comes over would rather play the aspen over the martin it just sounds that good.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
the set up is amazing like everybody else i have not had to do anything to it. everything is like perfect all the way around it i can't see or find any flaws on it at all.

Reliability/Durability : 10
i would trust this guitar over anything i have played before and i think it is really reliable. the finish will last a lifetime like most other good guitars as long as its taken care of. i would use it anytime at a gig without having to take a backup in fact i do and if i ever take the martin i take this as a backup but if i know i am playing this i don't need a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i don't know anything about the company other than i was told some people from martin actually helped make the aspen and that is why it is just like a martin.

Overall Rating : 10
i have been playing for about 10 years now and i started on this same guitar and would take it without thought over any of the other guitars that i have played including the martin hd-28. don't get me wrong i would love to have a martin hd-28 but can't afford one yet but i don't care as long as i have this guitar. this guitar i know is more sedimental to me than price.

I purchased this guitar from a friend for $100 about 8 years ago. I'm not sure when it was made or where. The action was cleaned up with a new nylon bridge. It's a 21 fret 6 string. It has a bit of history with it, the friend I purchased from is a cousin of Fletcher the guitarist from Pennywise. This guitar was actually Fletchers dads, and used by Fletcher when he was a young boy. Of course the younger brothers of the guy who sold it to me want it back because of the history, and probably will, since I'm a nice guy.

Sound : 8
It has a good rich sound for small venues. I use it mostly for playing workship for a church bible study in a home. And also just to play for my son. I also used it to play a song I wrote to my wife at our wedding.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
The original action was poor, but I have cleaned it up with a new nylon bridge with a short stature which allows for the action to be improved. Be careful if you attempt this mod, a little to close and you get a nice rattle sound from the bottom E string.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar will take all the abuse you can give it. I have only replaced the pins for the strings once, and that's because I lost one.

I have been playing since I purchased this guitar 8 years ago. I have all electric guitars besides this one, including a Fender Strat, a Peavey Raptor, and a BC Rich Warlock.

Same as the other review really, made in Japan and a honey to play!
Finish is pretty plain and nothing fancy just like the martin D18 its a copy of,but without the price tag.Couldent find out much about them except to say that they were made by the same company who in the 70s made arias, alvarez and most other mid priced named brands.I heard they were only sold in Canada as there were too many lawsuits flying around from Martin in the US and any maker who produced a good copy got sued...this is a very good copy.

Sound : 10
Sound is great with a melodic tone and clearly defined bass, mid and treble. I use it for flatpicking and strum now and again too.Im into ragtime and country

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Action can be adjusted although mine is just fine and I havent touched it. The finish is good and its lasted nearly 30 years now...what more can I say?

Reliability/Durability : 10
Id use it anytime ,anyplace,anywhere,....it rocks!!

Ive been playing for 20 years now and been thru a few guitars, both good and bad....love the fact that its a solid and little known guitar here in the US,and the sound has grown up with me....if it got stolen,Id cry first.then take out the mint one I bought a few years ago as a backup and never used.... cause I didnt need to.

This is a Aspen AD 18 made in Japen not sure when it was made but i can tell that it is pretty old .It is a solid spruce top 6 string ,dreadnought.
I bought it at a pawn shop as my first guitar,It has been played alot from the looks of the fret board ,It has a adjustable Bridge and is a little beat up. every thing on it works great except for the tuners they need to be replaced .
Also if anyone has any info on this or on aspen guitars please emial me .I would love to know more about Aspen Guitars.

Sound : 10
It has a very rich bass sound to it,I have since bought a new six string that does not come close to the sound of this Aspen.I have some friends who play in bands that have played this guitar and they say it says as good as any $2000 guitar out there. It had some pinging at first but after a truse rod adjustment it sounded great

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
For me as a first time player this guitar has been really easy to play .I can adjust the bridge to fit my playing and it feels as good in my hands as any other guitar i have picked up.

Reliability/Durability : 10
It has to be a very reliabile guitar ,Because when i bought it ,you could tell it had been around the block a few times.
