This is a 70's vintage, japanese clone of a Martin D-35. Standard scale great playing neck (no buzzing, or adjusting after almost 30 years, amazing. Rosewood back and sides and sitka well figured spruce top. Only real difference between it and its seven thousand dollar counterpart is this has a rosewood fretboard as opposed to ebony. Hexagon MOP inlays in the neck and aspen leaf on the headstock.

Some 20 + years ago a girlfriend had an older Martin flat-top (d28 thru 45, I don,t know) but it sounded incredible with her Joni Mitchellish voice. I encountered a few other Martins back then that blew my mind (much better than the current lot including the Taylors). So anyway I always wanted one (an old Martin flat-top) but couldn't afford one then or now. Anyway I didn't touch a guitar for 20 years (I had a great 72 Garcia classical that waited patiently for me in my closet). Well lo and behold this Aspen that I stumbled upon in a Pawn Shop then strung with elixers, truly honestly sounds that good. This has to be the best D-35 copy ever made and all for the price of a cheap applause. I'd buy 10 in assorted conditions at that price and have a tough time selling any of them at 3 times the price.

This guitar was not exactly mint, a few minor scrapes and bruises, but what can you expect for 30 years old, still very regal. The rosewood in the first two frets (open C and D position) is slightly depressed but doesn't affect playability. Overall the best playing and sounding flat-top I've ever played.

Wierd company, according to reviews read (depending on the model) achieved greatness and mediocrity. Now defunct I surmise.

This time around I've been playing about a year and because of my obsessive compulsive personality have amassed an arsenol of seven mostly good quality pawnshop guitars. The same day I found this Aspen I also found an incredible 73 Ibanez Les Paul (same store) that I'd stack up against any vintage Gibson. I also own a Telecaster, a Hamer Archtop, an Ibanez AF120 jazzbox, a 65 Silvertone Jaguar, and a 70's vintage cort. They all have a distinctly different character. I truly love em all. But I'm particularly partial to this little sweety. Please don't steal it cause I'd have to kill ya.

Bought it new in 1974 for $300, which was a hell of a lot of money for a Japanese guitar at that time. 3-piece back, rosewood fretboard, pearl inlay, copied after Martin D-35.

Sounds as good as any Martin, and Martin is the best. It's 30 yrs old, and like good guitars, it's even better today.

warm and balanced, it is as loud a guitar as I have ever heard I have it is strung with lite string to save wear on the bridge. (starting to seperate) she has age well and sound as good as any dreadnaut I have ever heard.
