I have no clue when it was made but I have to say it is a sweet guitar (if you can find one) fot the chicks. I bought it at a used guitar store 20 years ago for 175 bucks (that's all I could afford) and never been more happy with it as far as sound. I call it my "beater" as it travels with me to campsites or houseparties, and we do get stupid....As with every guitar, it really depends on what strings you put to it. I would like to hear what other owners suggest as far as strings. Right now I just changed to a lighter guage and it seems to make a difference big time. I was doing mediums before...Give me some advice please-
Jonzo

Sound : 10
Sound, like a wine that ages comes with time and the aging of the wood.
My own $.02 worth

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
No compaints. Never checked the wood but from another reviewer it seems to have a solid back (one piece) which makes the resonance.

Reliability/Durability : 10
Been with me for twenty years, say no more, say no more (wink wink)

I think this guitar was made in Spain. It has 19 frets. It has solid spruce top, laminated sides probably rosewood or Mexican rosewood. The back is a solid piece of rosewood or mahogany. The neck is a Spanish wood called samanguilla, something like the mahogany, but not sure. The fret board is rosewood or granadillo. The tuners were the German type from the sixties, even though the guitar looks like 20 years old only.

Sound is very smooth and clear. I placed a real bone bridge and the sound is out of this world. I also lower the action slanted, so that the treble strings are closer to the top than the basses. It is loud enough and really sweetsound. I first used it with a plastic bridge bone. After I changed the bridge the sound improved so much.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
The actin came high from factory with a regular plastic bridge. Too high action produce to much effort in my fingers. It is perfectly bookmatch in the top. THe back is one solid piece. THe sound is garantee to make the whole guitar vibrate (correction, the top and back), the sound goes projected up front. The assembly was perfect.

Reliability/Durability : 9
This guitar was purchase about 15 years ago by my wife and never used. It was always in the closed. The tuners were not the best quality and got rusted, I changed them. I now love this guitar

I know the company was out of Spain. It was probably bought by a larger company, Admira Guitars. THey still manufacture a model called Avila, but it is top of the line. This one I have from years ago is mid range, something like a Yamaha G231. Probably cost about $300 twenty years ago. I would not sell it for less than $300 now. The spruce has cured and the sound has gotten better. I do not know where to find the Avila nowdays. Some of the new onwers do not know how good they are.

Overall Rating : 9
It is a good guitar to keep. Nice sound and good looking. I will keep it.
