Nothing but the essentials, with the coil taps and dual volumes, I have almost unlimited amount of sounds I can get. My favorite setting is with both pickups and coil tap activated.

After playing it for several hours and switching back to the my well loved strat, I thought there was something wrong with it. The strat was dead, dead sounding. I have been spoiled rotten. Clean or dirty it has what I like.

I love the Exlir strings, after they are broken in they give the guitar a silkly feeling like no other and sound great. Finish was great! Just the right amount of bursting. Set up out of the factory doesn't matte to me because I'll always make tweeks and I like the action HIGH!

The only way to get this guitar to fail and stop singing is to bash it over an amp. Always in tune, thanks Buzz. No problems to date

Great support, however Gene's funny looking :) but don't hold that against him. He is really a guitarist at heart and loves working with other players. Will give you the time of day when you have questions or conerns. Something you can expect from a master builder

There are very few guitars I like. I will never own a PRS or PMS for that matter, but after playing a TCM, Fenders and what have you, this is the only guitar for me.

This is a 22 fret korina body and neck, solid body with a one piece quilted maple top, finished in what Gene Baker refers to as a cherry bengal burst. The body, neck, and headstock are bound with abalone, the brazilian fretboard has abalone trapeziods. The neck is an exact replica of a 59 LP, fat and comfortable, with medium perfectly finished frets. Two DiMarzio Bluesbuckers DP163s combined with a wrap around stop tail. Strings are stretched by Schaller tuners. Two volume controls one pull for split tone control and a three way switch. Very thin poly finish tops off this masterpiece. Check out Baker Guitars USA website under April 2001 guitars for pics.

This guitar sustains and rings unlike anything I have ever heard. Gene and I discussed and incorporated many features to experiment with enhancing the tone and sustain of a double cutaway guitar. It all worked. The neck is set one fret deeper than normal for an increased tenon area. The wrap around stop tails are known for their sustain, and finally the light weight korina combined with a Brazilian fret board top off the tonal package. The DiMarzio Bluesbuckers are a brand new pickup that are typical double coil humbucker size and looks, but sound like a tight hum free P-90. The tone of this guitar brakes so many sonic fronts it's hard to describe. I just fret a note anywhere, no picking , and it rings like a bell and continues to ring. The Bluesbuckers produce a sweet full P-90 tone that can really whack the speaker when you dig in. Distorted the Bluesbuckers never smooth out like a PAF they gring like a P-90. Split the Bluesbuckers open up but retain most of their power due to Steve Blucher's revolutionary pickup design in where one coil is doing most of the work while the other is cancelling the hum.

I have had other Baker guitars and this one is no different in the finish and setup. Perfection. Frets and fret ends are smooth and mirror finished, body stain is a stunning perimeter burst with a very thin perfectly applied poly top coat, I feel that a thin poly coat sounds as good as nitro without any of the nitro-negatives. All the abalone inlays are eye-popping without any filler. It doesn't get any better than this as far a guitar building goes. I have owned and still own quite a few high end guitars and this one looks and sounds better than any of them.
