Made in China. Standard D shape yet body thickness more like a OOO. Solid, glossy spruce top with a mohogany laminate body. Of interest the top bracing is scalloped which greatly enhances the sustain. Binding on body and neck are a nice touch visually.

After changing out the strings, the sound is bright yet not tinny, and with tons of sustain. Good mids but not great on the bass. Louder than you would expect....a great strumming box. The sound has improved over the two years I have owned it.

I bought it at a pawn shop and the action was high as to be painful. Adjusted the bridge height and truss rod to a very comfortable setup. Some glue visible on the inside and the top grain has imperfections and the color looks like beech flooring. That said, it is still easy on the eyes.

Although as stated before the body feels light, the box is very sturdy and travels well. This is a daily player around the house and on weekend getaways. I do not gig with it.

I have been playing on and off since childhood, and have owned, and currently own, a variety of acoustic and electric guitars of various quality/price points. This idiosycratic baby is no Martin or Gibson, yet I always have it hanging around like the family dog. I have no plans to get rid of it and if lost or stolen it would be like losing the aforementioned mutt. Subjectively a 7, but a 10 in my heart.

Like the other reviews. Sounded good with the strings that came on it, but sounded very good once strings were changed to in this case Martin Light Gauge. The guitar does not sound like a cheap guitar. While it doesn't have the brightness or tone of a Taylor, it sounds and plays way better than many mid-priced Fenders and Alvarezs I have played.
The wood on all sides of the guitar is flawless. No knots are strange patterns in the wood anywhere. I don't know what wood is used. It is heavier than a lot of cheap guitars. Feels like a real guitar not like a cradboard box with a neck like a lot of low-end guitars do.
The neck does not taper much and is kind of thick, which I like and it adds to the sustain. But, definitely not the guitar for someone with small hands.
Headstock is the classic Gibson Shape.

Neck needed to be adjusted as it was a little bowed from sitting on the store shelf for who knows how long with the strings tightened, but once it was the action was great. Very easy to play. As the other reviews said, it is a great strummer. Does not buzz anywhere on the neck.
Finish and fit is better than what I have seen in some $300 plus guitars. It has a high gloss finish and as with the wood its flawless, way nicer than what you commonly see at this end of the price spectrum.
Frets are well installed. And the fingerboard is finished well.
Tuners are ok they stay in tune, but are not that accurate. Take a little playing with to get in tune. But, once they are there they don't slip.

I play it all the time for over a year and it has held up like a champ. It's amazing this truely is one of the first "cheap" guitars that I have seen that truely is built like a higher end guitar. Even the bracings inside the guitar are finishede well and it does not look like a cheap guitar on the inside or out.
I'd gig with it no problem. Its very sturdy.

Bought 2 of these on clearance at K-Mart FOR TWENTY BUCKS A PIECE! Gave one to my brother. He loves his, as well.
Obviously this guitar was a stellar value for 20 bucks. But, if you can find one someplace, grab it! This is a low priced guitar that does not look, sound, or play like a low-end guitar.
If you can grab one for any price under $100 you are getting a helluva deal.

Gibson Baldwin Talent guitar made in China. Says "Designed and made to professional standards by Gibson??" on box - go figure. Gloss Finsish Dreadnought, Solid Rosewood Bridge and fretboard, Solid woodsSpruce top and Mahogany Back and Sides, Burgandy candy color, bound in antique white binding, decal rosette. Headstock looks like a Gibson. I walked up behind it on a stand and thought what's Gibson doing in a bath store? Came with Gig bag, strap, 1 set of strings, instructional dvd, picks.

Resonant deep tone with long sustain. Original light strings are cheap and produced thinner tone. Replaced with Medium Elixir polywebs and it really came alive. It had tone potential right away before string change. Is a big strummer, but for fingerstyle has nice long sustain.

Set up wasn't great. I adjusted the completely loose truss rod, shaved the saddle down some and added standard grover tuners. Overall fit and finish were very good for price point. Frets are sharp and inside of guitar is not so great but who cares. I decided to have it set up even with my alts, because it was so inexpensive...plays great now.

Seems like it will withstand standard wear and tear for an acoustic

Been playing about 25 years and have owned Taylors and Martins. This guitar would hold it's own in any acoustic jam. It has sustain beyond anything below $1,000. My last Martin was a highly regarded D-15S 12 fret slothead. This easily sounds comparable! Best Thirty-one dollars I've ever spent.

I have strummed this puppy hard and loud, it virtually stays in tune! Nice tuners, i would definetly use this guitar as a stage guitar or even a back up.

5 yr gibson warranty and although it was made in china, i am still very impressed with this little guitar. The extra that came with it made it an extreme value.

20 years in the guitar biz, i own a Martin acoustic and a Guild, i would definetly rate this "Talent" right up there real close. Remember, the stock strings they put on guitars cannot compete with Martin strings. I really liked the price of this guitar, i got it clearanced out at K-mart for a small sum of $50.00. I would buy another for a backup, its just that good for the price.
