Recent (early 2000's) acoustic archtop from the premier archtop builder Robert Benedetto. This is Benedetto's top of the line. Simple and exquisite: Spruce top, maple back and sides. Solid wood tailpiece and bridge. No fingerboard inlay. It has the only feature that really matters--tone.

No amps or effects to consider. No "settings." Just a beautiful, well-balanced archtop sound. Perfect for acoustic solo work, and for small group playing. In acoustic trios, say, with string bass and clarinet, or string bass and violin--it's just superb. Has a crisp "woody" tone that really comes through when played into a mic for live gigs or recording.

I've never dealt with Benedetto directly, except to purchase strings from the website.

I've been playing for 40 years. I've been fortunate enough to own and play some fine archtops, including a Gibson Johnny Smith and a Guild Artist Award. The La Venezia is definitely the best I've ever played--or heard.
