I got it as a Christmas gift in 1995.So I don't know what it cost.It was made in Korea. It has 20 frets. It has a laminated top.Actually the whole thing may be laminated around the form inside.Very smooth Mahogany neck.A generous layer of laquer covers the entire guitar. It did come with a case but I had a flood about 3 years ago and the case was destoyed the guitar was not damaged at all.Maybe all the laquer protected it.

Sound : 10
It has a very clean sound. You can feel the vibrations,it would have been great for bethoven.I like to play a little home school blues and the guitar lets you play just about what ever you want to play. You can hammer all day long and pick hard never shows any damage.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 9
The acoustic guitars now days are probably alot better. But this is my very first guitar and for as long as I have played it,as many sets of strings I have replaced it has been great. All the hardware works,Bridge is good.

Reliability/Durability : 10
You could play this guitar live, actually I know you could play this guitar live. This guitar looks and sounds just like it did when it was new.It has a pick guard and there are a few scratches on that but,the rest of the guitar is fine. This guitar didn't come with stap buttons and I have neglected to install any because I don't want to compromise sound or durabilty. This is the backup, and when it gets down to it I'd almost rather play this one cause it sounds better to me.

I don't think Bently is around. But all the parts look the same as alot of other major names.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing since 1992.My other guitar's include:A Fender Statocaster,a Yamaha G-200,a Dean Cadillac,Alvarez 12 string acoustic and a Gibson Les Paul Custom Eletric. If this one was lost or stolen,I would try to find it at a pawn shop,if it was lost in fire or water.I wouldn't try to replace it at all.It has givin me alot of fun.My favorite part of this guitar it the smooth neck you can slide all day long.I wish it did come with stap buttons.

I have no idea how old this 20 fret Bently is. It is made in Korea. It is a laminated top but sounds quite full. The finsh is gloss and applied very thick. Good for durability but perhaps cuts back on sound quality. The finish is cracking where the neck joins the body but it seems to be ok. Tuners work fine. Neck is average thickness and Frets seem OK to me. I have seen other reviews of Bently with complaints of poorly filed or overhanging frats. My Bently does not have this problem,

Sound : 8
Sound for this guitar is quite good despite the fact that it is a low end guitar. Plenty of volume but I would stay with light strings. Mediums or heavy would sound better but that may compromise the neck joint. Action is OK and I could bring it down but for now it is ok.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 6
This is an inexpensive guitar. Basically the fit is OK. The finish could have been done better. I got it at a garage sale so odds are that someone may have taken the time to set it up pretty good at one time.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Time will tell how well this guitar holds up. I think it will survive if taken care of. But since it is cheap it will go to the beach and you know how that goes.

no idea

Overall Rating : 10
Playing for several years. I collect cheap guitars so I have too many to list. I also have a Martin D-41 but that gets played indoors.
Sure for the price I paid I gota working guitar. I would do it again.
I love the sound and the idea that it can be a guitar to just be there at any time to play.

1992 Bently 5106G 6 string Acoustic Guitar
Purchased in 1992 at Robbie's Music in Nyack New York for $120 as my first guitar. I was in college and $120 was all I could afford. Standard 14 fret dreadnought. Top, back, and sides appear to be made of 300 sheets of paper laminated together. The top sheet has a look that reminds me of the fake yellowish woodgrain dashboard panels in my parents old 1977 Chevy Malibu station wagon. This is all held together by a liberally applied gloss finish which sucks away whatever vibrations can get through the 300 sheets. The finish is horrible...gobs of lacquer all over. The one thing is that since the gloss finish was just slopped on there, it's pretty thick and it's hard to really scratch or chip it.

The funny thing is, for all of it's faults, I've had lots of people tell me it sounds good! This is not a 'finesse' guitar, but is a good barroom basher. You can get a decent bass response from it. My college roommates also bought entry level guitars....an Ibanez PF-10 and a Martin Sigma. They think this Bently sounds and plays better!

Action, Fit, & Finish : 1
After 8 years, cracks have developed around the neck joint and it is ready to snap off any day now. This guitar has it all: overhanging fret ends, uneven and poorly filed frets, neck slightly twisted. The bridge saddle disintegrated after 2 years. The top is all bowed around the bridge, indicating that the string pressure is ready to yank the bridge right off the top. The tuners are falling off the headstock. The fingerboard is wearing down. Don't even bother looking in the sound hole...there are little pick-stealing gremlins in there.

does Bently still exist?

Overall Rating : 6
This guitar served as the 'house' guitar for me and 3 college roommates who also play. It has been through all kinds of situations and has taken a lot of abuse. I keep it for sentimental value. I'll keep playing it until the neck snaps, and then I'll actually go get the Martin 000-18 I have been lusting after. If it were stolen, I would certainly do something else with my $120.
