Good sunburst finish, but it could be a little better. Looks very similar to a Fender Strat, my friends couldn't see much difference.
Made in 1964, but I don't know where. 21 frets with a laminated top.
1 volume and 2 tones. S/S/H pickup style. Don't kow Pickup model.

Sound : 10
The sound is AWESOME!!!! Its perfect for grunge, my favorite type of music. Great with Distortion and Metal. Very Rich. Great with Bends.
Whammy Bar sounds Good

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion

Reliability/Durability : 10
This guitar is great for playing live! The hardware won't break EVER and so will the finish! The strap buttons are good, the strap hasn't came out while I was playing. Very Dependible, would use a backup only if strings broke.

Played for 1 year, and have played basses for 4. I also Have a B.C. Rich Warlock. Nothing I wish I had askes before buying this guitar. If I lost it, I would buy another. I love the sound and playability.
The only thing I wish it had was a transistor.

Features: Don't know the year or origin. All visible features identical to a fat strat, two single coils and a bridge humbucker, clone thru-body tremelo tailpiece. Not sure about the body - it's like a wood resin core with formica-quality outer plastic. It came to me in pieces in a box with a hand-brushed horrible paint job - even on the neck! I refinished it in a cool metallic blue (check out www.reranch.com ). It's beautiful now. Cheap-o hardware but everything is functional. The frets were worn but overall the rosewood was in good shape. Overall the body is very tough, you couldn't break this if you drove a truck over it. No serial number or anything other than the head-stock Bently decal.

Sound : No Opinion
This solid body has amazing resonance - not to say it's good, just unique. Unamplified, it's louder than a real wood guitar, which is good for the student who's practicing without an amp. Amplified it's a bit weak. Very little tonal differences between the 5 way switch positions, enough so you know it's working, but not anything like my real Strat. The pots were very clean, but again, not very rich.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
Once I reassembled the guitar, set-up was a snap. Great intonation, and the playing action is remarkable for such a cheap guitar. Oddly enough, it's almost as much fun to play as my real Strat. It's very light for its size (full size Strat clone). The guitar belongs to my son-in-law who's just a beginner. Anyone should be so lucky to have this guitar as a starter. If he ever gives up, I want it back!

Reliability/Durability : 4
Ha! This is a student guitar only. You COULD gig with it, but why? The hardware is cheap and probably wouldn't withstand the rigors of travel. But because of it's great action and light weight, a beginner can practice for hours on it without getting weary.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never attempted customer support. The guitar was a basket case and free, and the only place I found mention of a Bently on the net was here.

Overall Rating : 9
Thirty plus year guitar veteran. I currently own two Fenders, a new American Strat and a 1965 Duo-Sonic II (second owner - owned since 1968). I like this cheap Bently, just because it's easy and fun to play, and it's such a 'don't give a shit about it' guitar, so no sweat if it breaks or is lost. A diamond in the rough, no doubt. Too bad it's no longer in production.

This particular TURD was made in Korea. Poorly mimics basic Strat features. I paid $79.99 for it used, and I got raped. As I said-it is an incredible TURD!!!!!

The pickups are an unfunny joke. Pull the covers and viola-they aren't "Real" pickups. Similar to the feaux pickups popular on late '60's crappy Japanese guitars. AWFUL

Action, Fit, & Finish : 3
OK-plywood body. UGH! Fender wannabe bridge, with 1/2" fully threaded wood screws, instead of the proper type screws that are longer, with a hardened shoulder. The control pots are those crummy dime sized jobs. The pickups, are terrible. The tuning keys are equally terrible. The neck actually isn't half bad. The control cavity smells like a yeasty snatch. I don't know why it smells this way, and I don't want to know. Maybe some poor Korean guy lost a fingertip in there, and it's been fermenting. Anyhow, I find it rather disturbing that a guitar's innards would smell this way.

Reliability/Durability : 1
It would be great for setting on fire.

Yeah, right!

I orignally bought this as a guitar that I could drag around without having to worry about it being stolen, but the damn thing is totally unuseable. I have since cannibalized it for a few parts, and replaced it with a De Armond SG copy. My beloved Strats and Teles stay at home usually. Let me repeat myself-IT'S A TURD-Don't buy it!

21 frets, volume ,2 tone, 3 single coils, 5-way switch, Black finish, strat-body, Nonlocking-tremelo, medium frets

Sound : 4
It's Ok for that grunge sound, but not much else. I run it through a Crate 65-watt with a Morley wah pedal. It has really bad hum, even on the clean. It doesn't really have a full tone. Once you get to the high notes, it starts to lose tone.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 2
The action sucks on this guitar. the frets are hard to push down, especially on the first fret. Makes barre chords almost impossible.
The pickups get loose when you try to adjust their height. The pickup selecter is very noisy, and it gets loose, too.

Reliability/Durability : 1
This guitar would probably fall apart if you tried to do some heavy touring with it. Wouldn't ever use it on a gig, except maybe to smash it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never contacted them

It's your basic strat copy: 3 single coil pickups, 5-way pickup selector, 21 frets, your standard tremolo, and 1 volume and 2 tone knobs. Sunburst in color, which was not a flattering color on this guitar since the wood grains are dark and staggered. I'm not sure what wood the bodies made out of but I know it isn't plywood because its a solid piece of wood, it might be basswood, but that's just a guess. As I said before it's just a strat knockoff.

Sound : 8
The pickups are pretty weak, but man can they produce a sweet tone. It can handle distortion, clean sounds, just about anything you could want. You get all the strat tone here, and yes that does include the loud buzzing, but hey that's just how strats are. I did have to raise the pickups to get more output so they're absolutely fine now. The neck has to be the best part of the guitar, its smooth, fast, and it doesn't feel like your holding a baseball bat, you could easily play this guitar for hours.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 8
I got this guitar at a local guitar store and it was set up perfectly, nothing was loose or coming apart. It was set up for anyone to play right then and there. There were absolutely no flaws in the guitar the way I got it. I was actually surprised that overall the guitar was set up very well, and for a beginning guitarist who knows nothing about guitars, that was a good thing.

Reliability/Durability : 9
Well first of all most people would definately want to replace the tuners, strap buttons( which were kind of a problem), and possibly the pickups. Those things you would have to replace in order to gig with it, but other than that it can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. I dropped this guitar many, many times due to the strap buttons, and the guitar never once dented, scuffed, or was damaged in any way except for the paint on the body of the guitar which did chip twice. This thing was built like a tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never was able to deal with the company becuase they're no longer in bussines, which is kind of a shame because they made great little guitars for the price. The guitar store that I got it at would most likely help me with any questions or repairs that needed to be done.

Overall Rating : 8
After I got more familiar with guitars I went out and bought a washburn BT-2, which I didn't like at all, then traded that in for a Squier Strat, which is a great little guitar too. I still have my Bently Strat, but right now I'm using it for parts unfortunently, due to a bad paint job I tried to do. But I did have a chance to compare it to my Squier Strat, and the Bently won hands down. It was more comfortable to play, and sounded better overall. I was actually thinking about getting another one but the guitar store must have sold the rest because when I went back they were all gone. This just proves a point, if something is really expensive that doesn't all ways mean its better, which was deffinately shown in this strat copy.
