My C55-7 was made in 1999 in the Brewster,NY factory. I discovered it sitting in a guitar shop in New Jersey and it caught my interest because of the price and the fact it was a REAL brian moore and not the i-series korean made stuff. It has a mahogany body with a dark grey quilted maple top that looks as good as the PRS tops. Its got a 22 fret bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood fretboard and abalone dot inlays. The pickups are Dimarzio Blaze humbuckers wired through a 5-way pickup selector and a push/pull tone pot for coil tapping. The hardware is a chrome tune-o-matic bridge with stoptail and satin chrome sperzel locking tuners on the headstock. Despite the fact it was second-hand it came with the original hardshell case with all original factory papers and pamphlets.

Sound : 9
The sound of this 7-string is an example of fine-tuning. I've played many kinds of seven strings from ibanez universes to RG models to ESP LTD 7's. And the one thing all those guitars never acheived was producing a sound that wasnt muddy and unclear, especially on the low-B. This guitar took care of that problem. The sound is clear and defined even on the low-B and has the versatility between the pickups to go from tight chunky rhythm to warm bluesy lead tones. The number of tones you can get out of this guitar is remarkable. The very first 7-string i've used that doesnt muddy up on the low-B.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
This is another good job they did. The intonation is near perfection and the action is low enough for excellent comfort during playing but without much buzz at all. No dead notes anywhere on the neck and even during hard string bending the strings dont go out of tune. As far as i can see the only flaws on this instruments construction are nothing except for very tiny signs of use such as a small nick or scratch here and there. The controls are noise-free and the pickup selector is crackle and pop-free as well. All hardware looks sturdy and the chrome looks as shiny as the day it was bought 3 years ago.

Reliability/Durability : 9
I've only had this guitar for a small period of time so i havent had a chance to play out with it yet but the way it looks i have more than enough confidence its sturdy enough to last through pretty much anything. Real solid construction and good materials make this a beautiful instrument you wouldnt be afraid to make a workhorse. Never gig without a backup, that rule applies to even 6000 dollar custom instruments. Common sense.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I havent dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing nearly 11 years and this is my second 7-string and my nicest one at that. I am experimenting with 7's because of my interest and influence in bands like Soilwork and Nevermore. It still amazes me how i found such an incredible instrument for the price i found it for. This thing could of easily sold for 1200 if the store knew better. Well, better for me because now i have an american made brian moore in like new condition and paid under a grand. What Luck! Awesome guitar.

This model is a 7-string version of BMCG's C-55 model. Mine is a 1999 model and was handmade in Brewster, NY. It features a mahogany body with a quilted maple top, bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fretboard, 22 jumbo frets, a pair of DiMarzio Blaze II HB's, fixed bridge and Sperzel locking tuners. The electronics on my guitar are a little different from the stock model: instead of a 5-way switch with the push pots I have a 3-way LP style switch that is wired like the Ibanez JPM guitars.

Sound : 10
I play a style of metal that's a combination of progressive metal (Dream Theater/Fates Warning) and "modern" metal (Korn/Fear Factory). The guitar suits my style perfectly. It excells at high-gain sounds because of it's rich, detailed sound and unlike my other 7-strings, it doesn't "mush out" on the low B. Sounds even better clean.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
Everything was put together perfectly on the guitar. All soldering was neat, the cavity was fully sheilded, awesome fretwork and a perfect finish. The guitar did need a few minor adjustments when I recieved it, but I blame that on the December weather and the perils of shipping.

Reliability/Durability : 10
This is an "investment" instrument. It's built to last under demanding professional use/abuse. This is a guitar that I will be able to depend on for years to come.

Customer Support : 10
The company was very friendly and helpful.

I have two other 7-strings: an RG7620 and one of the first late 80's/early 90's Univerese guitars (SN#88). Because of the 557, those guitars are now gathering dust. I love absolutely everything about this instrument. This is a flawless guitar and is worth every penny. I'm already planning on ordering another.
