This MC1P was built way way back in 1995 in Brewster NY (per rear of matching headstock). Its a composite body with a wood top. The top is beautiful. A natural finished BLISTERED maple top. Amazing. Seymour Duncan H/H configuration (no idea what kind). Sperzel Locking Tuners, Wilkinson Vibrato, and RMC piezo. 24 frets. 5 way p/u selector. Volume Knob and Tone Knob (push/pull) and Piezo volume.

I purchased this at Sam Ash for $1580. Came with a beat up hardshell case that doesn't close. Missing was the trem bar. One of the Sperzel locking tuners was broken. The knob on the back was missing and the whole tuner was loose. There was no G string on the guitar because of this. I had to purchase a new Sperzel Locking Tuner.

I play in a metal band. It suits the style well using a Mesa Boogie Triple Rec head. The composite body does make the tone different when you go clean. Its very bright to very dull. Its hard to explain. The guitar can make any tone you want I think. I'm just kinda not so keen on the guitar at times.

Action, Fit, & Finish : No Opinion
its used so it was in poor shape. action was way off and just so high i have no idea what happened. the blistered quilt is just fantastic. nothing can come close to this, nothing. I wish I could post a pic of this top. Again this is a guitar that is at least 11yrs old so the fit and finish is not going to be the best. Lots of chips on the body here and there. The previous owner must have worn a belt buckle because there are some bad scratches on the back. Nice big chip in the neck where the composite just crumbled off. Headstock sustained some hits as well. But brand new i'm sure this thing was gold.

Reliability/Durability : 4
Well the 5 way switch is extreamly noisy! I don't know what the deal is as I did put some oil in the switch and worked it in but it did not work. The knobs make TONS of noise as well and I need to get this looked at. The Piezo does not work (using the Y cable) and the push/pull does NOTHING to the tone. I dont know what happened to it. 11 years of abuse I think. The store told me the guy that owned it played in a popular local band. He said he didn't take care of the guitar so...

Emailed them and they told me about the guitar. Responsive but their main focus today is the Korean and China model guitars. Custom Shop stuff is not very popular.

Overall Rating : 6
The guitar is beautiful and it was the main reason why I got it. I'm probably going to sell it soon and take a look at a custom Jackson Soloist. Don't get me wrong its a very nice guitar its just that it doesn't suit me. I've heard Brian Moore Customs are rare and will be good investments but from what the store told me, they are really not popular guitars at all. They make phenomenal guitars in the custom shop but they are just not popular.

Flagship model made at the Brian Moore Custom Shop in 1998 - Brewster NY, USA. 24 Fret, neck-thru (completely heel-less) with highly figured flame maple top / matching headstock / birdseye maple finger board. EMG H/S/H set up with Wilkinson RMC Piezo brdige and Sperzel locking tuners (all gold harware). 5 way toggle plus push-pull tone pot creating 7 different tone combinations. You want features, this guitar has features!

Guitar produces an incredible range of sounds. I play mostly progressive rock and the guitar (through Line 6 AX2) allows me to go from sweetest acoustic clean tones to the crunchiest metal sounds. I really like the variety of sounds attainable and EMGs respond nicely to subtle tone / volume adjustments. The pull pot splits the humbuckers which really opens up the blues tones on the guitar. I would rate this category a 10 but all guitars sound "funny" from time to time which is why we all need more than one!

I bought the guitar used ... After a cleaning all I did was put on new strings and raise the bridge a bit to fit my playing style. After 6 month's of playing I have yet to make any further adjustments. The bookmatched figured maple top would easily receive a "10 Top" rating if it were a PRS. No surprise here as I feel this is the case on all the top Brian Moore models. There is a slight cosmetic flaw in the pain finish where the fretboard joins the body which prevents me from giving this category the top rating.

The guitar is a true engineering marvel. It goes far beyond the typical "super strat" guitar with an extremely comfortable (sitting or standing) body shape and incredible upper fret access via the seemless neck joint. The guitars composite construction feels incredibly solid so there's no need to baby it. However, I added Schaller strap locks as I would hate myself if I ever dropped it while bouncing around.

Best in the business here. I bought the guitar used and one of the piezo saddles was out of order. After a few months of playing, I shipped the guitar off to the factory and since a repair was not possible they replaced the entire bridge for free (great warranty). Not only that, they did a full blown set-up which included a body / neck polish which removed all the minor swirl marks! I started out with a used machince & basically got back a new one! Lastly, for some reason the previous owner had removed Brian Moore brass logo plate from the custom hardshell case & they replaced it with a brand new one also with no charge. Through the entire process the Brian Moore staff was friendly and very accessible.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been actively playing for 10 years and have owned many other guitars. The only other guitars which I could compare to the MC/1P would be the Parker Fly (USA) and the Music Man John Petrucci (USA) model both of which I also own. While all have similar options, in my opinion, the MC/1P is by far the best looking and best all around playing guitar. However, I would give a slight edge to the Parker tremolo system and the Petrucci piezo controls. None the less, I would buy another one all day long!
