Warm, humbucker tones. If you are looking for single coil sound this is not it. I use tube power only. Sustain on this guitar is not the best, but that because it is light. It is a great rock and metal guitar. Pretty versatile sound. For you drop D guys and gals, this is a great guitar as well. I will say this if you are looking for strat tone get a strat. I had a push pull pot installed to split the coils and still not a single coil guitar. It is what it is, a humbucker guitar.

Poor setup, but do any guitars come set up well? Every thing was loose too. A couple of turns of the wrenches and she was ready to go. Fit and finish of this guitar is well beyond that of anything remotely in this price range. Fret ends are nice, Pickups are adjusted well. Flamed top is beautiful. This is by far the prettiest guitar for the money in the world. When you pull it out of the case, it draws attention like a guitar that cost several thousand dollars.

Had it for 2 years now and it has held up well. I set it up for 10's and have had no issues. The guitar is solid as a rock. Tuners are great, all hardware has worn in better than new.

This is my second Brian Moore Guitar. Their support is friendly and if the reps don't have and answer they will get it. I had an issue once with a guitar and they were going to pay to send it back to them to fix it. I fixed it myself with their instruction, but they were outstanding. Try that with any big box MFG!

I have been playing for about 15 years. I have some top notch equipment and some entry level equipment. This Brian Moore I81 guitar represents dollar for dollar one of the best values I have seen. This is my second one, I had an I8 first that was better than this one, but was a whole lot more expensive. This guitar is a great axe with stellar looks. It does not have the tone that I am looking for, but I am a single coil man. The best part of this guitar is the weight. It is nice and light. The ergonomics are outstanding. It stays in tune. Plays great. Sets up nice. Quality hardware. I installed a coil tap, which would be nice if it was factory. A little better pickups would be nice. This guitar will set you back about $5-$6 bills now that it is no longer available through Musicians Friend, and if I was buying another guitar in that range, this one would be it. It is a guitar that will draw attention to its self. I give it an overall rating of 10 in this price range, but 8 or 9 in any price range. In other words if the tone suits you, buy it.

The sound is great for a beginner. For a pro, the sound quality is somewhere else....
Through a Marshall 3203 head and a Carvin 4x12 the pickups had this strange quality. Crank the pots and it sounded ok, back the pots off to 7-8 and the pickups developed this barking condition. There was a very strong threshold where a volume/output cutover occurred. Pluck lightly and have mellow tone. Pluck just a slight bit stronger and all of a sudden the middle strings output dwarfed the higher (lighter gauge) strings. I have played for 19 years and have never witnessed this type of behavior. Strange....
BTW, it's not my amp. I tested my other guitars just to make sure I wasn't crazy.

The fret dressing and playability was very good. This was probably a strong prerequisite for the "Made in China" contract.

This guitar was built well. The finish was quite good. Tuners and pots were strong.

This instrument immediately felt like a beginner's instrument. The weight, weight distro, pickup sound quality, bridge screws pressing into the palm of my right hand. But my god.... for $199 what do you expect? Given the price, this guitar was very good. Although, since harmony-central does not categorize instruments and put this one into a beginner's cat I'll have to rate it low.
The thin body felt like the original Satch Ibanez models and were too thin and light for me. I like full sized (thick) bodies with two cutaways like Strat, 80's US Kramers, Jackson. I detected a bit of neck drop (like basses do) since the body was not full sized. I found this annoying. I also didn't like where they placed the rear strap button. A little too eccentric for me and it was actually less comfortable than the standard buttom of the guitar button.
Conclusion: If you are looking for a cheap guitar, this is a good one. If you are looking for a quality axe to proudly add to your stage stand, spend a few hundred more and buy a Carvin, Schecter, or better yet, build your own axe with Duncans, Warmoth, or Graphic compos.

Chinese made bolt on neck electric with 3 way switch and dual humbuckers. Typical features other than incredible cosmetics like a flamed maple top, high gloss teal transparent finish and the unusual headstock.
Came with a really nice gigbag.

I play rock and blues, so this is a nice guitar that fits well with what I do. The tone is slightly warm, but with a chime almost like single coils. I mostly record, so amps are irrelevant. Tone control works VERY well to create a wide pallette of tones.

I have never received a guitar that was set up so well. All I did was tune it and the action was perfect with no buzzes. I can hammer and pull all day without having to pick with my right hand.
I like the tones, but I'll mess with the pickup heights just to see what they can do.
I haven't found any flaws in the guitar, but it's worth mentioning how good the fret dressing was. It wasn't this good on my Gibsons when they arrived.

The Brian Moore will certainly withstand what I put a guitar through because I don't gig. It stays in the house. Without having had it long, I'm going to guess it would be as good as anything else I have.

I've been playing for 40 years. I just wanted something decent, but cheap to keep out in the livingroom and play when I didn't feel like staying in the home studio. I suppose the only thing I wish this guitar had was a switch with a shorter throw on it.

This guitar get set up in the NY warehouse and it is shipped with new strings and setup to outstanding specs. The action is low but with plenty of room for bright acoustics and the mahogany reall reels in the sustain. Through a clean amp, this guitar sounds boutique, and through a distorted channel, this guitar will absolutley shred. The frets are without flaw (unlike some of the les pauls that Gibson is putting out right now), and the contour rivals PRS to quite a degree.
I wish the finish was a little lighter, but it is still very pretty.

I am yet to find a fault in setup or fit and finish. Only my preference for a lighter contrast in color, but that is not the fault of Brian Moore. It is still a breath-taking guitar.

With haste I made this guitar part of my gig rig. I have no doubt that it will withstand the rigors of the road. The locking strap system I got from Kepur seems to be well fit, yet I dont think that would have been neccessary. The buttons are very sturdy and any strap probably would have done the trick.

After I purchased the guitar, I call Brian Moore to thank them for a job very well done. I did express my wish for a lighter finish and within an afternoon I recieved 2 phonecalls from BMG reps thanking me for the imput and gave me their contact info for future communication.
The warranty is lifetime on craftsmanship and 5 years on electronics.

I have been playing for 13 years and I have always endorsed Ibanez guitars. Up until now, Ibanez was the only guitars that had a neck that I really dug. I have used PRS, Cort, Dean, Hamer,Fender and Gibson, and I still put this Brian Moore on the top of the pile (at least level with PRS). Do yourself the favor and play a BMGi81 today. It is the hottest guitar on the market under $1000.

This is a 2004 model with a mahogany body and a flame top in purple(sort of a grape juice color). It is made in China, as opposed to the higher end Brian Moore models. It doesn't have the piezo or 13 pin synth jack, just a straight up dual humbucker setup, with a three-way toggle. It has a string through body bridge non-tremelo. The i91 is the same guitar, but with the trem. It comes with Brian Moore pu's and tuners. Also included was a really nice padded gig bag. I bought this guitar in my ongoing battle between higher end guitars(I have a Les Paul, and a couple of PRS)and "cheaper" guitars....sort of a quality vs. quantity disease that I have. I'm giving it a 10 because for the price you couldn't really expect more features without taking away from the overall quality.

I am playing this through a line 6 ax2 amp. As with most cheaper guitars, the pickups are always a bit suspect, and this guitar is no exception. I have no problem with the way they sound, but can tell they don't have quite the bite of say my les Paul. I may change them out some day, but really not bad. I play mostly rock/metal and some blues and I think it sounds good for all.

This guitar is beautiful in a simplistic way. The flame top is very subtle at least under the very dark grape juice color. I have found no flaws in it at all. This thing is built like a tank, and feels very heavy for such a sleek design. Some people may not like that, but I like some girth to my axes. One area that I am really impressed with is the tuners. I find this to be an area that is usually lacking on cheaper guitars, but these tuners feel very nice. They are smooth as you tune up, and don't have that lag that I have found in cheap tuners. I was going to replace them with sperzels, as I have done with most of my cheapies, but I banged on this thing for several hours when I first got it and it was still in tune. The whole guitar was set up well right out of the box.

As I said, this thing is built like a tank. If I were the type to abuse my guitars, this thing feels like it could take it.

This guitar is awesome in my opinion, for the price. I did find out though that Musicians friend was running a special on them when I bought it at $299, because I checked the other day and now they are almost $450. I still think they are worth it at that price, but I sure am glad I got it for the blowout price. Not to mention the gig bag it came with is a $70 value by itself.
