Beautiful for fingerstyle or singer/songwriters stuff.
Nice ringing trebles but also very balanced sound.
Very long sustain.
Extremely good projection and very responsive.
For a guitar of that size it is very loud.

The wood quality is absolutely stunning.
The bearclaw top has a very regular pattern - beautiful! (Which can not be said about every bearclaw top you find - in my humble opinion.)
The Rio is not highly figured, but seems high quality - looks very nice.
Bound headstock and fingerboard (Koa)
diamond and dot fingerboard markers
Waverly 3-on-a-plate tuners with ebony buttons (slotted headstock)
abalone top border and rosette
Very low action but no buzzing.
In two words: Perfect Craftmanship!
Simon, Andy and their crew are artists in my view!

The price for a high-end, hand built guitar with master grade tonewoods like this and a phenomenal sound is absolutely adequate!
If it was destroyed/stolen I would try to have them build a similar guitar, but as this one is so unique, I would still need lots of "I don't know what" to come over it!!!

This is my second Lyn the first was a sitka and walnut Taw (OM style really) - which is still a great guitar BUT I paid yet another visit to Deven and played a couple of Andy and Simon's 12 fretters. One of them was a Lyn
The rio makes a lovely difference as does the 12 fret join.
The sound is sublime, more complex than my 14 fret Taw, with a distinct and fabulous bottom end.
I use this guitar exclusively in the C modal tuning (that is C G C D G C) which is really Csus2 and it fits this Lyn perfectly.
There is nothing I dislike about this guitar it is simply beautiful, in looks and sound. The best I have ever had. Just to give you an idea I have owned 2 pre CBS strats, 2 Les Pauls - one of them a 56, Guild acoustics and have extensive playing experience of Martins, Sobells and Fylde's - so thats what its up against.
The Highlander rig is fine, but to be honest all rigs like this are a compromise as far as I am concerned more of a necessary evil - but having said that the Highlander is one of th best rigs there are.

Brook's (believe it or not) have tendency to have actions that are tooo low - not that they buzz, Heaven forfend! So I have mine highered slightly

This is a top flight guitar and will last accordingly I am sure, my Taw is nearly 5 years old and has done plenty of gigs with no problems at all.

`stunning - as good as it gets.
Mind you, if you want to play and own a top quality acoustic and you live in Britain (I'm sure the same is true for the States from what I hear), you are in heaven, as there has never been a better time to buy a hand built guitar. Simon and Andy at Brook are the boys for me, but David Oddy, Alistair Atkin and many others all make great guitars.
